Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me early access to this arc!

I was so excited when I read that the synopsis was Agatha Christie meets a cozy crime book with the essence of the 1930’s! Doesn’t that just sound like a blast? I love reading cozy mysteries. Especially ones that involve rich houses, fancy weddings, and a new detective trying to solve a rich people murder.

We are following Miss Atalanta Ashford, the novice detective who heads off to paradise, only not paradise because people are dying. Can she save the bride before she says I DO?

I thought that this was a fun time. It was a sold 3 star for me, as I was fairly bored in parts, but it also made me laugh and did what a cozy/feel good murder mystery is supposed to do. The author will be coming out with more books in the series, and I will be excited to read more from her!

A light entertaining read set on a Count’s estate in Provence. Set in the 1930’s with a bit of amateur detecting along with romance, murder and intrigue. Atalanta Ashford has inherited her grandfather’s vast wealth and his skill in solving “problems “ for the wealthy. When spoiled heiress Eugenia Frontenac approaches with the request that Atalanta determine if her fiancé killed his first wife, Atalanta is happy to assist, but worried she does not have the detecting skills her grandfather had. As she delves into the case she discovers that a murderer is in the household and she can not trust anyone. Twists and turns with several well developed characters, the story ends with a bit of drama. Looks like the beginning of a new series. Sure to please many.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this advance copy.

I very much enjoyed this 1930’s historical cozy; Conroy not only wrote incredibly likable characters but also perfectly balanced the suspects, clues and red-herrings that keep me guessing right to the end. I especially liked the Provence, France setting and look forward to where ever Atalanta’s future investigations might take her. This is the first in the Miss Ashford Mysteries series, so pick it up today and get sleuthing.

I received this eARC thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, One More Chapter in exchange for an honest review. Publishing dates are subject to change.

Atalanta had a challenging life as motherless child with an impulsive father who died indebted to many because of his anger towards his father. She worked to pay off his debts and then worked at an exclusive girl's school. Then came the telegram from her grandfather's solicitor. Turns out that she inherited more than houses, cars, and money, but also an ally in the form of his manservant and an innate ability to investigate thorny problems. In this first book in series, she is contacted by a young woman who has received a disturbing note questioning the integrity of the man she has been contracted to marry. Let the sleuthing begin and the twists and red herrings multiply until the Grand Confrontation! Excellent read!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book copy from HarperCollins UK/One More Chapter via NetGalley.

This was such a fun read! A little bit of who done it cozy mystery! I love how the main character is basically like a murder?! Time for ME to solve this! (After a bit of help from her grandfather and his fortune) And then *gasp* another murder!? What are the odds! But I love Atalanta, her early Nancy Drew vibes, her quick whit, the high society of Europe’s Elite and saving a bride from a horrible mistake! It is a bit of high stakes high reward with a little bit of Clue-ish character vibes mixed in. Characters kept me engaged and it was an easy read for sure! Excited to see the other books that come out!
