First Bite by Avery Daniels is a cute paranormal cozy mystery. After dumping the blind date from hell Misty Summers is attacked and turned into a vampire. If that wasn’t bad enough her boss has bailed to go save his marriage. Misty needs the job and gives herself the title of junior investigator. She has cases to solve and paranormal rules to learn. She meets new people and makes new friends but her love life really needs work. A fun first in a series.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this book! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I’ll be completely honest, I expected this book to be a stereotypical vampire book with tons of angst and cringy-ness. BUT, I was pleasantly surprised that that was NOT the case in this book. The main character was relatable, witty, and lovable! I loved that this book showed vampires and other mythical beings but didn’t make it so serious. While this book had mystery components, I breezed through this book because it felt so lighthearted in some parts, which I enjoy! Overall, this book was amazing and I can’t wait to read more! I have high hopes for the rest of the series, and I am excited to see how the characters develop further.

This was a quick read-which was a nice break from the 600 page tomes out there. It is good to have room for both.

The cover is whimsical and I would say pretty on point (please pardon the puns). It conveys a cozy mystery and I'd say this follows in that vein.

The use of the word "slapped" in two contexts within the first three pages was an editing grab for me.

I would also like to know why wizards aren't supposed to be friends with vampires. Is he a human wizard and so it has to do with that?

I enjoyed the introduction of other supernatural beings like the selkie and dragon in human form. That said, I wanted more of that world built up in the beginning. Is she strongly connected to the supernatural community? I almost wanted her to start the foundation of a bff relationship with someone at the tavern.

Fun, easy read. Plus. how can you go wrong with vampires?

A fun supernatural mystery, I loved the wit. Lots of crazy situations with a bit of the scary mixed in. A good read

I was provided a free ARC of First Bite by Avery Daniels by Blazing Sword Publishing via NetGalley in return for my honest review of this book. Any opinions stated in this review are mine completely and are not influenced by outside sources.

It’s exactly what is advertised, a cozy mystery with a paranormal flare. Nothing about this book really stood out to me that would set it apart from the rest of paranormal cozy mysteries but it was an enjoyable read. If this series continues I will probably use it as my “Inbetween Series” books.

Avery Daniels take on the supernatural is a cute cozy story of a woman who is just trying to create a positive life for herself. Instead she becomes a vampire and meets a cast of characters that will help guide her though the change not to mention her new role as PI. The story is cute fun and leaves romance readers excited for book 2 to see if the witch will break the rules for her.

The supernatural world has kind of new take on vampires they are changed DNA. The story keeps to some myths and tosses other out the window.

Reader's will fall in love with Misty and her positive affirmations she uses throughout the story. That is what had this review smiling at times as I finished the cozy read. If you are looking for a summer quick read this Supernatural cozy mystery is for you.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of Avery Daniels First Bite

A big thank you to NetGalley and Blazing Sword Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the first in a new cozy paranormal mystery series. Misty is a reluctant vampire, who had a rotten date! She works at My Private Sherlock and while her boss is away keeps the business going. This was just a fun book to read, truly enjoyable. I found it interesting and just cute. I am sure that most cozy mystery readers will enjoy this new series. 4 stars
