I didn’t love this title. I resented the husband, who ultimately opened the relationship and then treated his wife poorly for the entirety of the story. I saw zero character growth in him - he was in fact abusive and expected his wife to suck it up. The writing was good, but the story made me uneasy and disengaged.

Permission by Jo Bloom is the story of Steve and Fayea seemingly happily married couple of 20 years with 2 children. Despite being happy and still very much in love Fay is unsettled and thinks their marriage is lacking a little "something". Somewhat out of character she's intrigued by the idea of having an open relationship. Very reluctantly Steve agrees, despite the whole idea making him feel insecure and inwardly questioning what it is Fay finds lacking in him.
With the rules negotiated the couple take their first tentative steps into the world of non-monogamy.

I really enjoyed this book,it could have been tacky and tawdry but while there are some fairly explicit scenes it's more about the impact of the new arrangement on Steve and Fay's lives and relationships as they discover that things aren't quite as simple as a bit of no strings hanky panky. They have very different and unexpected experiences, will their marriage last?

A well-written and thought-provoking book.

I found this book to ne enjoyable, more so in some parts than others. I found that some parts of the book kept my attention wholeheasrtedly and others seemed slow and drawn out. I liked the premise of the storyline though and I thpught the characters were well developed. A 3.5 star read but if I had enjoyed it all it would have been 4 stars.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

An interesting read, I found this book to be super hit or miss. There were parts that I was very invested in, but other parts where I struggled to stay engaged. I couldn't really find myself rooting for either Fay or Steve, but I did find the storyline interesting and very unique, and the characters developed out pretty well.
