Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy of Captive by Iris Johansen in exchange for an honest review. I have been reading this series since the beginning as I really liked Eve Duncan and her job as a forensic sculptor. The series has evolved wonderfully and we have gotten to see Jane grow up and become her own person as an adult. This book is about her and her adventures. I really liked it and am excited to read more or even reread the series.

I love this series with Eve and Jane however as this one focused primarily on Jane and her love Caleb. I didn’t feel the romance and the suspense one usually gets from this author. The story dragged for me and the only reason I finished it was to find out what happened to Fiona. Fans of this series should give this a go as they may enjoy it more than I did.

I love EVERYTHING Iris Johansen! And this was nothing but amazing. I have read all of her books and know all the characters really well! I think as a stand alone book you’d be missing out on a lot of history with each player BUT she does a great way of adding in nuggets of important information so there aren’t any gaps.

Again, another amazing book and I will read ANYTHING Iris Johansen!

I like Eve Duncan and am a fan and reader of Iris Johansen. This however is the first novel I have read about her daughter. I understand there is one other. Having said that I didn't like the novel and couldn't get into the plot, which is likely my fault as a reader. It was slow going for me to finish the book as I did not like the character nor her romantic interest. I am sure others will enjoy this book. It just wasn't for me. Thanks to #netgalley#Captive for the opportunity to read and review this book.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I really truly enjoyed this book. I have read some of the Eve Duncan books but I have not read any of the ones about her daughter. I found Jane MacGuire to be an interesting person and liked Seth as well. This was a super interesting story. I would highly recommend. 4 stars

Set at MacDuff’s Run again, this follows the storyline of Caleb and Jane. It brings up past storylines and extends them out with more scenarios. Will you see what’s coming? Read it to find! Definitely worth reading!

Another excellent thriller from Iris Johansen!!! Nobody does romantic suspense like this lady!! And she wrote one hell of a story with Captive!
This was another book with action galore and with pulse pounding and hanging by the edge of your seat moments and with two of my favorite characters from the Eve Duncan series the beautiful and talented Jane, Eve's adopted daughter and the deadly charismatic Caleb!!! Love this couple so much!!! When Johansen first put these two together it was magic and fireworks and nothings changed! But things have been tense between these two lovers and Jane has been feeling melancholy lately so when Caleb is called back into action with MI6 he takes Jane to the one place he knows for sure she'll be safe and that's Macduff Run. Its suppose to be a in and out job but things go sideways after he kills general Rozkor , Hugh Bohdan head of Rozkor's mercenaries goes crazy and puts Caleb on his hit list for making him look like a fool ! He wants Caleb found and cuts a path of torture and death along the way and once he finds out about Jane and the baby she's carrying he will use her and the baby to lay a trap for him. Its a race to see who will get their first. Iris Johasen is a fabulous storyteller and her villains some of the most vile I've every read and Bohdan is no exception he's a evil bastard. I loved spending time with the Laird Macduff he is one of my very favorite of her characters and his personality and charm always comes through and the whole Cira treasure tale and Fiona's story and finding out what really happened to her adds another amazing layer of mystery and
I loved how it was woven into this story. The chemistry and interaction between Jane and Caleb is still intense and passionate and with the baby coming Caleb has to bare his soul and for someone like Caleb it's not easy.
Jane is as strong as her mother Eve and with a heart of a warrior together her and Caleb will put a stop to Bohdan reign of terror. I want to thank Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for this copy! I always enjoy reading a book from this writer! until next time Luv's💕💋

A page turner from the start. This story had me on the edge of my seat. Captive held my attention creating quite the ride. Part of the Eve Duncan series, Iris has created dynamic characters that help to bring each story to life.

I normally love this series, but this one just didn't do it for me. I felt like I had missed some important information in a previous book, which made the story hard to stay engaged with. The action/suspense didn't feel like it was really there. I'm bummed. I know even your favorite writers occasionally write a book that is not for you, and this was the one for me. If you love this series, please don't let me keep you from reading it, it is probably just a me thing.

Captive by Iris Johansen is an Eve Duncan mystery that mostly features her daughter, Jane MacGuire. Jane is growing more concerned for her Seth Caleb as he continues to cross crime lord Hugh Bohdan. The story is layered with intrigue, searching for lost art, and trying to outmaneuver Bohdan. Oh, poor Earl John MacDuff and the very damaged MacDuff Run. If you are a fan of this series, you will not want to miss Captive!
The book is filled with wonderful characters, lots of dangerous adventures, and a bit of romance.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book!

Ms. Johansen takes us back to Scotland for this next thriller in the Eve Duncan series this time featuring Jane McGuire and Seth Caleb. What a wild ride this books turns out to be with the usual mayhem of a pissed off criminal overlord, an intriguing mystery that is slowly revealed to Jane and the evolution of the relationship between Seth and Jane. Be prepared to have time on your hands because if you're like me once you turn page 1 you won't surface until it's the end and that too it's with reluctance I put the book down and turned off the light.
Seth from time to time uses his skills to do jobs for MI6. This time he stashes Jane in Scotland under the guardian ship of the laird of MacDuff who claims Jane as one of his clan. Things do not go smoothly on Seth's mission and he has one pissed off criminal mastermind determined to get rid of Seth and all he holds dear. Despite Seth's best attempts to lead the chase away the hunt comes to Scotland.
Jane meanwhile is dreaming and painting which triggers Jane to believe that the treasure that she helped find earlier was only one stash of several. As she researches into the MacDuff family line and finds a branch that relocated to the US she begins to follow a trail that sparks excitement.
Seth has also come to Scotland and both he and Jane make a pact to face their enemy together and extract revenge. Of course the best laid plans don't always work out the way they should but the twists and turns will keep you feverishly turning pages and the end is all that should be.
I am a fan and always enjoy Ms. Johansen's books but this one definitely rises to the top of a glorious pile of reads.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Seth and Jane's story continues with Seth tracking down and trying to stop a warlord named Bohdan and keep Jane safe at MacDuff's run. As usual nothing goes according to plans and Jane and Seth are in the middle of it again. This time Seth has help looking after Jane in the form of an associate named Rodland. Rodland provides humor during his protection services. I loved the surprise twist near the end of the book. It makes me look forward to the next book in the series to see how everything plays out. I want to thank NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for an advanced reader copy of Captive and as always my reviews are my personal views from reading the story.

This is the 29th book of the Eve Duncan series. Focused on Eve's daughter Jane and her partner Seth Caleb.
Seth works for a M16 Intelligence Service and hired to take out a ruthless madman, Bohdan.
Jane goes to Scotland to be safe and uncovers a past and some art that she wants to know more of. Her life and Caleb's are in danger and no matter where they go they seem to be hunted.
You can feel the love between Caleb and Jane and what they do for each other even when they are mad at each other. How far reaching Bohdan has and what he won't do to find them
I look forwards to more in this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the ebook to review.

I love Jane and Caleb so it was great to get another story where they are the focus. We travel back to MacDuff's Run for an action packed, suspense filled story. The past is coming back to haunt them and its a nonstop intense read. I was hooked from the beginning and read through way past my bedtime. The ending was perfect and left me wanting the next book now!

I've read a lot of the Eve Duncan books by Iris Johansen and they are all enjoyable reads! This is no exception as Captive focuses on a new chapter for Caleb and Jane. Caleb crosses the wrong man and his criminal empire in this book and he is now Hugh Bohdan's most wanted. Bohdan has a huge army of men working for him and their reach is long. They are coming after Caleb, Jane, and anyone they care about. Buckle up, friends cause the last third of this book is at a breakneck pace!

Jane is in Scotland staying under the guard of Earl John MacDuff. He assures Caleb that Jane is safe with him as he has marines and guards working at his complex. Caleb isn't so sure so he sends a couple of his best men also. Bohdan starts finding people that Jane cares about and they begin to disappear. Will Caleb be able to find Bohdan before the worst happens? Will Jane be safe? Will Caleb and Jane ever be able to have any peace?

This book is like a slow burn....it builds.....and builds.....until the last third of the book you can't put down. Captive comes out on September 6, 2022 and I highly recommend that you read it! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for an advanced copy of Captive. #Captive #NetGalley #GrandCentralPublishing
