I am true crime mad, so, some of these unbelievable stories were already ones I knew, but some of them were new to me.
Lots of places to start researching again, as some of them were so interesting, so compelling unreal that it made me stop and check for some of them.
The Giesha especially.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Weird but interesting
This book looks at a selection of very odd true crime stories from the last 200 years or so with more of a focus on the less well known stories (although a few big names do pop up)
This book wasn’t what I was expecting when I first picked it up but it turned into a totally fascinating read that caught my attention and introduced me to crimes and stories that I wasn’t aware of but some of which are stranger than fiction!
The writing engages the reader and I found myself smiling at some of the authors anecdotes and descriptions and because it pulled me in, I suspect that this is a book that I will pick up again and again
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy true crime written in bite sized chunks, each chapter is a different crime story, that will draw you in right from the beginning

As a person that is obsessed with true crime, I was excited to dive into this book. Overall, I thought it was a good collection of true crimes stories.

Here is a collection of true crime stories from different countries and time periods that defy simple description. They include: a psychotic geisha who severed her lover’s genitals to carry as a token of her love and who inspired a cult following; a 19th century serial killer who earned the title of “the worst woman in the world” by killing a series of husbands for profit and George Stinney, the fourteen-year-old child who died in the electric chair for a crime he didn’t commit. These stories, and more make this book a must for any connoisseur of true crime and bizarre justice.

I am a great lover of true crime and devour it in any way I can, though reading books, online blogs, watching documentaries or dramatised renditions so I was really looking forward to reading this after reading the blurb. However, I just felt that the collection fell short to what it stated it would deliver “stories you won’t believe” and quite frankly just felt like another rather generic collection of crimes that could have happened anywhere to anyone with nothing overly special or unique about them. Added to that that the book was riddled with spelling and grammar errors it made the reading a bit of a slog.

Nevertheless, there were a few intriguing stories included that didn’t make the whole read completely boring.

A incredibly interesting book and i was pleasantly surprised that i only knew two or three of those true crimes. I also enjoyed that they were in different time periods and they seemed really well researched (i didn't really google a lot of them, only some to see if i read about them).

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC for my honest review. Romeo Vitelli did a good job picking the stories for his book. Many are lesser known so it was nice getting a look at those. If you’re looking to broaden your true crime knowledge this is a quick and easy read without all the excess filler that many stories include.

Wow this was boring. I cannot remember any of the 32 uninteresting and bland stories in this book. Bare in mind this is only 180 pages in length, putting each story at about 5 pages long. Not nearly enough words to get gripped by any of them. The stories were all a bit odd and highly unbelievable, I wish I hadn't requested this one but on paper it looked like something to satisfy my true-crime wants. How wrong was I?!

I really enjoyed reading each true crime story in this book. The author got right to the point and didn’t include a ton of fluff for the length of the book. I wish other true crime novels were similar.

This was so interesting, I love anything true crime, I am glad I requested this one as I am trying hard to read more non fiction and broaden my knowledge. This one was full of fascinating stories that I really enjoyed, definitely recommend if you’re a true crime fanatic like me!

As you may know, I am a huge fan of true crime and this book did not disappoint! Full of interesting cases, some of which I had come across before and some I hadn't, the author did a good job of explaining the cases in a simple, but interesting way.

Most of the stories contained are from the 18 and early 1900's and I am looking forward to future books in this series and possibly some more modern crimes. True crime fans will definitely enjoy and if you want to dip your toe in, this is a great book to do so as the cases are covered in just enough detail, but aren't overly gory or grisly.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the Kindle ARC. This was the first book I've read by Romeo Vitelli and it was very interesting. It was several true crime stories that are lesser known from the past 50 to 150 years. Mr. Vitelli's story-telling is succinct. Some of the stories are just as title says - unbelievable. The author researched the stories as far back as he could and, in some cases, the cases went cold but there is enough information in each story to feel as if there was an ending. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history and true crime.

4.5 stars!!

I loved this. I'm not a fan of non fiction or short stories but I loved this. I am a huge true Crime fan (I'm one of those weirdos that can sleep to a true Crime documentary). The stories were all really interesting and most of them I hadn't heard of so it was nice hearing new ones. Other then Ed Gein and Jack the Ripper I hadn't heard of any. I did skip Ed Gein and the cannibal ones but those kinda ones make me feel sick. The others were perfectly written. Nice and consice, no waffle just the relevant information.

True Crime Stories You Won't Believe by Romeo Vitelli can be definitely an interesting read for new and returning true crime enthusiasts. The book mostly focuses on older cases, some of which are more, some of which are less known. Each story is only a few pages long, giving a general overview of the case, with some background and the later fate of the criminal.

It is difficult to give a general review of all the stories since some are written in a more engaging way, whereas some feel more off-putting (by disrespecting pronouns, for example, that certainly sat wrong with me).

Altogether, it can certainly be an interesting read if one wishes to quickly broaden their knowledge about true crime, especially from the late 19th and early 20th century, however, many descriptions feel very superficial and almost "fact box-like" instead.

This collection of true crime stories was truly interesting. The majority of these were crimes I had never heard of. While most of these crimes happened pre 1950 and many were in the 1800’s, which typically is less interesting to me, these crimes were so unbelievable that they held my interest. It is amazing to me that these cases are not more well known. For many, I would guess that it is because they happened outside of the US but that does not make them any less fascinating to learn about. I highly recommend this book to any true crime enthusiasts as it will likely give you more cases that you will want to deep dive into.

True Crime Stories You Won't Believe:: A Cavalcade of Chaotic Justice by Romeo Vitelli was a quick but interesting book. This is the first book of a series of planned short story collections. This book contains a collection of 32 short true crime stories dating back to the late 1800’s, which made this book interesting and well written from start to finish. This new book is excellent reading for true crime enthusiast.

Big thank you to Books Go Social, Romeo Vitelli and Netgalley.
