This was... ok? Considering how much I loved the rest of the series I found this one surprisingly lacking. Susanna Craig made the surprising and somewhat odd choice of making this a 'two-for-one' deal, with two romances. However, with the page count usually devoted to one romance, this just served to make both feel rushed and ultimately unsatisfying as the time that could have been devoted to fleshing each out was devoted instead to providing the sketch of the other one.

I feel like she didn't really have enough material for a whole book here, so she tried to stick in another romance to fill page count, and it just didn't work. There is a distinct lack of plot, and the mystery is solved by the characters it isn't happening to. I also had a hard time connecting to any of the characters. None of them felt really compelling to me.

The audiobook was performed well, but even it couldn't keep me interested.

I was quickly and enthusiastically drawn into this story. The match between bookish Caro and scarred Maxim is perfection. They both come to each other with a great many scars, some physical, most emotional. They are able to help each other heal, and view themselves as better people. The journey to that happy place though is full of anguish and self-doubt. The self-doubt in the Marquess pushes him to abandon his new wife. It is quite surprising how quickly she is able to move past that abandonment, but it is also beautiful. He is truly heart scarred and has not had anyone to show him his worth, seeing her take to tha made for a delightful story. The mystery hidden within the story provides the right amount of intrigue to make this a great mystery romance.

Oh I just love a 2nd chance romance for a married couple. This guy has run off and left his wife back in England. He's back in town and oops... this is not the same girl he left behind. Caro and Maxim have a fantastic story and I loved reading it.

I devoured this book in one day. For me it was the best in the series! I loved how the author built on the people and relationships already established in earlier novels, while also introducing us to new ones. This allowed her to fit in, not one but 2 romances without it feeling cluttered. I think there could have been a little more groveling and apologies offered on the behalf of the MMC but overall the story was so satisfying. A good blend of all the romantic features with light espionage elements intertwined. The epilogue and getting to see the HEAs of all the former couples was so fun too. Really enjoyed this one.

Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for a free E-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I love nothing more than when a couple comes together after a long estrangement, and Susanna Craig delivers in Every Rogue Has His Charm. While this is the fourth and final book of Love and Let Spy series, it was a great stand-alone. However, I loved the book, so I had to go back and read the entire series.

Our hero, Maxim, is suffering from war wounds, both seen and unseen. He is also struggling with his feelings for our heroine, Caro, who he compromised at a house party. These overwhelming emotions, and his resistance to embrace them, have led to a six-year estrangement.

Caro has grown up in the six years she has been left to her own devices, but that does not mean the years have been easy. Maxim returns to England after the death of his grandfather, the Duke of Hartwell, and must let Caro know what has happened and their new status. A beautiful story of love, redemption, and trust follows.

This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it even though I'm coming into this series on the last book. The plot was engaging, both the romance arc and the spy one. The conflicts each character had with their family gave them deep scars that impacted their interactions and made intimacy difficult. How satisfying it was when they finally defeated those demons! And I enjoyed how the spy part played out, the assassination attempts ultimately leading to the culprit and especially loved how he was taken down. The epilogue was syrupy sweet and showcased several couples I assume are from previous books. Overall as i said, an enjoyable read that held my attention and would read this author again. #netgalley #EveryRogueHasHisCharm

Caroline has been the Marchioness of Chesleigh for six years, but she hasn’t set eyes on her husband since the first few days after their wedding. Scarred, private Maxim was far from ready to let a wife into his heart and instead immediately went back to France to continue his espionage work, thinking Caro would be better off without him.

Upon inheriting the Dukedom of Hartwell from his estranged grandfather, Maxim returns to England to find his wife has changed and isn’t quite as soft as she once was. She’s had to learn independence and that is his fault, but the physical attraction between them is still strong. As Caro learns the secrets Maxim once hoped to keep from her, the bond between them begins to strengthen, though danger has followed him home from France and threatens their reunion.

I liked this version of second chance because, unlike many books in this trope, this one doesn’t focus overmuch on the time the MCs spent apart. Instead, the focus is more on their reunion and the two characters coming together again. Outside forces speed this along and Caro and Maxim grow to need each other, and with Maxim finally willing to admit that it was a very satisfying bit of character development. His finally being willing to open up to her lowered the angst level here, which I always appreciate, and I loved that Caro and Maxim were both so protective of each other. Her family needed to be put in their place and I liked the fact that Maxim stepped in and forced them to respect her, though I think she still deserved more of an apology than she really received. We also get a bit of a side romance here with Fitz Hopkins and Fanny Drummond that I found charming, though I’ve never much cared for Fanny and I think their HEA was a bit open and unsatisfying for me. Otherwise, I liked the level of suspense here and especially enjoyed the open communication that was finally established between Maxim and Caro. They at last became a team and I loved that aspect. All in all, this was a satisfying conclusion to a cute series.

What a fantastic ending to an amazing series!!! This book had everything I could ever want in a historical romance book, spies, forced marriage, a separation and a scarred hero in need of redemption. I was so glad that Caro and Maxim didn't spend time in miscommunication. I love that they were able to express their hopes and fears with each other after their separation was over.

I adore Susanna Craig's writing! She creates such wonderful characters and chemistry. The steamy parts are so passionate and full of love. She is definitely on my must read list.

Susanna did it again. I have enjoyed this series and one does not have to read all to enjoy Every Rogue Has His Charm. This story weaves primary and secondary characters stories with ease and depth. I appreciated the character development and minor mystery wrapped up the this regency romance. The friendships, partnerships, and new relationships shine.

I would recommend to anyone that wants to jump into the genre or feel the comfort of the time period.

I've really enjoyed this series from Craig, and the final installment proved to be no exception to that fact. The mere premise in and of itself — a couple getting married after being found in a compromising position only for the scarred hero to take off after four days a) partly because of secret spy duties and b) partly because he's having too many feelings for his new wife, and then he's gone for EIGHT YEARS. If you suspect there'd be a lot of groveling involved by the time he returns to settle some inheritance affairs, you'd be right; however, to me, it seemed there needed to be MORE of Maxim being brought to his knees in an effort to win Caro over again. The other thing that kept me from being able to give this a 5-star review was the romance B-plot; I was left wanting more from the other couple who gets together at the conclusion of the series, and I think a solo book for them would have made this one somewhat better paced in the long run. Overall a wonderful conclusion, though, and I look forward to whatever Craig plans on writing next.

Rating: 4.5 Stars

Susanna Craig concludes her Love and Let Spy series with the fourth thrilling stand-alone instalment, Every Rogue Has His Charm.

When Caroline had sought refuge in a library during a social event and found herself trapped, she never imagined that she would emerge from the room betrothed to an aristocrat! Free at last from her nefarious father’s manipulations and machinations, Caro had been looking forward to spending the rest of her life with her husband as the Marchioness of Chesleigh, but the ink was barely dry on their marriage certificate before Maxim had disappeared off the face of the earth never to be seen ever again. In the last six years, Caro hadn’t seen hair or hide of Maxim – until now!

Scarred and reclusive, Maxim is a man with plenty of dark secrets in his heart. As a spy, Maxim is used to keeping people at arm’s length and he never imagined that he would let down his defenses and let anybody in. But meeting Caro at a house party had ignited something deep within him that had compelled him to propose to her. However, thinking that his new wife had only accepted his proposal because she had no other choice, Maxim had left the marital home mere days after their wedding. Returning back to England after working in France for six years, Maxim is surprised to find that his wife is not the diffident and biddable girl he remembers, but a woman who knows her own mind and who has no problem standing up for what she wants. Six years might have gone by since the last time they had clapped eyes on one another, but the attraction that has always sizzled between the two of them hasn’t dimmed in the slightest.

As Caro learns more about her husband’s past, she finds herself growing closer to the man she had once believed didn’t care for her. As their bond deepens and their love for one another grows, will they give their marriage another chance? Or will they be torn asunder by dangerous enemies intent on destroying their union forever?

A gloriously romantic tale of second chances, healing from the past and the power of love, Every Rogue Has His Charm is an emotionally satisfying historical romance full of atmosphere, jeopardy, drama and sensuality. Every Rogue Has His Charm will hold readers spellbound from beginning to end as they find themselves completely gripped by this exceptional page-turner.

A fabulous treat for historical romance aficionados everywhere, Every Rogue Has His Charm is another winner for Susanna Craig.

I adore a good second chance romance and Every Rogue Has His Charm is a wonderful one. Susanna Craig wraps up her Love and Let Spy series with an utterly engrossing love story.

An innocent mistake, a locked library, and a marriage to save a lady’s reputation – that’s how Caroline ended up wed to the mysterious Marquess of Chesleigh. Married to a stranger, Caro discovers it’s actually quite easy to grow fond of her dark and dangerous husband. But when Maxim up and leaves four days after their wedding, Caro is left on her own. Six years later she’s in Brighton when who turns up at her door but her husband! Caro is determined not to fall for Maxim again, but that’s easier said than done when the flame that burned brightly between them never went out.

Caro is bright, smart, and independent. She didn’t wither with all the whispers when her husband abandoned her. She created her own life, though it is a bit lonely. Maxim, a spy embedded in France, has returned to England to share critical intelligence. Except he keeps getting distracted by his wife. The wife he abandoned because he was terrified of opening his heart to her. Maxim screwed up badly with Caro but he wants to make it up to her. I loved watching them both come out of their shells. They are so sweet together it brought a smile on my face. They’re the type of couple who just match each other perfectly and I was easily lost in their romance.

Craig gives readers a two-for-one in this book as widowed Fanny Drummond also gets her chance at love in this book. Fanny has long been part of the Underground but when finally tasked with a mission she seizes the opportunity – and finds love along the way. Like Caro and Maxim, Fanny has been hiding her true self and she comes into her own in this story. I enjoyed her journey almost as much as I did Caro and Maxim’s.

Every Rogue Has His Charm has danger, intrigue and a lovely romance with a hero and heroine who are easy to root for. I adored this book from beginning to end. If you’re new to the Love and Let Spy series, you can easily jump in here. And if you’re a fan, then the epilogue featuring the matchmaking General Scott is sure to put a smile on your face. I loved Maxim and Caro’s story and I can’t wait to read it again!

This was such a pleasant surprise! I requested it just based off of the cover and a quick glance at the synopsis, but as I was unfamiliar with this author & series, I wasn't sure what to expect. Now I'll have to go back and read the previous books in the series, because this was a lot of fun.

The premise is delightful (scarred hero who never intends to marry compromises a woman & marries her, they spend a few steamy nights together, they start to get ~feelings~ so the hero panics and leaves her for SIX YEARS, also he's a spy but she doesn't know that, but then he inherits a dukedom and decides to pop by and see her on his way back but obvi she is LIVID with him, but the feelings!! They're still there!! And suddenly life-threatening shenanigans are going on??), and it gives everything it promises in terms of heightened emotion and drama and intrigue. I mean, the mystery is a little obvious, but I still had a good time. Plus the various near-death encounters make for some GREAT sick and hurt/comfort scenes.

There's also a secondary romance! I feel like those are more rare these days, at least fully fleshed out ones, but they have enough time to be satisfying and get a little steamy without detracting from the main couple, and we even see them in the epilogue, which I love.

If you're into romance with just a bit of light spy shenanigans and a hint of mystery, I think this is a really good one to pick up. And there's a commanding officer who apparently spends a lot of time throughout this series meddling in his spies' love lives, so I absolutely will be checking those out, bc relatable.

As exciting that I knew that this book would be, the writer did a great job at offering my some gleaming excitement. The book was a great page turner for me. I was intrigued by the story plot and the characters. I thought the description of the characters was clear and explained their part to the plot clearly. I also thought that the plot was very entertaining. My imagination was held from the beginning of the story to the end.

This is the fourth and final book of the Love and Let Spy series. I have only read one other book in the series and enjoyed it very much, so I did not hesitate to pick this one up. I was not disappointed!
This book is a bonus as it follows two couples' journey to love. Maxim and Caro married out of convenience to save Caro's reputation when he unwittingly compromises her. And despite how drawn he is to Caro, Maxim, believing he is too damaged for her to love him and not ready for him to trust her with his secrets, he leaves her after the third day of marriage. He doesn't return until 6 years later and realizes that his wife has changed and grown into a more confident and independent woman than when he left her. The passion and fire that was there six years ago still burns between them, but they most both overcome their fears before being able to move on with each other. Luckily, they don't shy away from disclosing their doubts and fears to each other. But they must also deal with danger lurking as they try to reconnect.
We also get to see a romance bloom between Mrs. Drummond and Captain Anderson. It was a lovely addition to the story.
The characters were wonderful and I enjoyed following their stories. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Craig's books.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
