3* I think I'd have liked this without the forced-feeling romance. Otherwise, a decent read.

This was my first tale from this author, and yes, she can weave something worth reading. It made me wonder if it's more common than we think, that therapists go into their professions because they recognise something in themselves that they feel needs 'fixing' and in doing so, decide that they need to help others.

The subject matter packs a punch, because the form the rapes take, and it was well enough done that I did wonder who out of the pool of men in the tale, might be the rapist. But, the tale then fell down a rabbit hole that I couldn't get my head around - when Mia got accused of being the rapist, despite descriptions of the (male) rapist suspect being given clearly by his first victim and the rather-too-obvious second victim. This part lost the tale 1* from me.

The romance in this was a non-starter for me, dead from the waist down, and wasn't needed in the tale. The leads didn't spend enough time together for them to fall into bed the way they supposedly did, let alone in love, so that lost the tale 1*. The bigging-up of the men from the security company, of which the male lead was the boss, reminded me of those Mills and Boon tales that I used to read 40 years ago, when men had to be Men and women had to be the flowery, swoony ones. There wasn't any toxic masculinity in these guys but there was a tad too much testosterone and ego lurking.

But, I'd still read another tale from this author.

I love Amanda McKinney and LOVED the Berry Springs series which I now own and will re-read in the future when I feel like going back to Berry Springs ;).

This book is just as enjoyable. I know with Amanda I will get fantastic likable characters with much depth and a mystery storyline with much action that will keep me guessing until the end. This book is no exception and delivers on all counts!

Really really enjoyed the journey and would recommend this author along with any other books she has written.

Now, this isn’t a genre of book I would usually read however after reading the synopsis on NetGalley I thought I’d give it a go.

Buried Deception is full of suspense and tension. I would probably class it as a thriller/romance.

Mia, a psychologist, has a dark and traumatic past. Her inner monologue really hit home and resonated with me. As someone who suffers with anxiety the internal workings of her panic attacks, disassociation and grounding was so relatable a lot of the time it had me in tears!

Cue Easton, super hot ex marine who ends up being the dominant, burley man you want a MMC to be.

I really loved the explanations and descriptive pieces and the landscape building. The author went into detail explaining different psychological issues, mostly PTSD and also descriptions surrounding Eastons work as a search and rescue tracker.

This book has so much potential. I was hoping there would be more spice and less fade to black. Easton such a daddy and would have liked to see this side to him in the bedroom but this is just my personal smûtty preference 👀

The plot twist has me shouting ‘I KNEW IT!’ at midnight when I came to the conclusion and the ending was super sweet.

This book had me hooked; I’ll definitely be picking up more suspenseful, crimey books moving forward.

This book was suspenseful and dark in parts, but despite all the trauma and darkness love won. It is a clever story with many twists and turns. A who done it novel that kept me guessing all the way until the end. I wouldn’t have guessed it, I thought. I must say that after reading this, I’m dying for some lighter reading, maybe a romantic novel now, but in the future, I would like to read more by this author. I enjoyed the descriptions of locations, the dark forest and swamp areas, and the wildlife around.

tws for: sexual assault and things like stalking, serial rapists, child sexual abuse(and other things that come within those warnings)
oh wow.
I mean, just freaking wow.
I LOVE suspense romance now. I want to reread it already.
I went into this not super interested, but man there was a full 180 turnaround. This book was completely engaging, heart wrenching and wonderful that I honestly think I could just read it again and again.
This book displayed this intense and true writing talent, and I can't believe I nearly didn’t read it.

And the plot twist! I'm SO angry. SO SO SO ANGRY. I never saw that coming and I'm furious that I didn't.
Five stars right here. go read it as soon as it comes out!!
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc!

Wow! A gripping tale of a serial rapist and attacker of women that jog and hike in the swampy area near town. Easton (or Chief) and his crew of SAR, and Mia, a psychologist who does profiling, work together to try to solve the crime. While a creepy topic, it was also hard to put down. The writing and characters work to make this a well written story. Highly recommend.

Wow, just, wow....I literally couldn't put this book down. It's dark and twisted as fears of the Black Cat Stalker take over the town. Mia is a therapist with a secret, even as her past threatens to become her future. When she reaches out to Easton for help, they are thrown into something far more complicated than they could have predicted.

I loved the characters - they were complex and had depth. This book was filled with twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. This one is a must read! The author is on my must read authors' list.
