I liked this slow burn, second chance romance. I really wish we had more time spent with Fallon and Sawyer on their relationship though. It just took too long to get to that point.

Meghan knows how to write her romance, like the characters have a lot on their plate but still feels warm and lovely, which make it quick to read and i definitely would keep reading her.
Sawyer and Fallon are definitely on my list of forever together list.

Runaway Groomsman by Meghan Quinn follows Sawyer Castle, a Hollywood screenwriter who writes romance for a living. While he knows what a good on-screen romance looks like, his own love life is a disaster, so much so that when the story opens, we meet him while he’s standing at the altar watching his ex-girlfriend marry his ex-best friend. Not only did they have an affair behind his back, but they also had the nerve to ask him to be a groomsman at their wedding. Struck by the ridiculousness of the whole situation, Sawyer abruptly tells off the bride and groom and runs out of the church. Unfortunately for him, many media outlets were there to cover the big event and they all caught his escape act on camera. Needing a place to hide out for a while, Sawyer decides to stay in the tiny town of Canoodle, California, not knowing his life is about to change forever.

Fallon Long owns and runs Canoodle Cove Cabins, family-owned business, that she took over from her dad, Sully, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. When Sawyer checks in for a long-term stay, Fallon is struggling to make ends meet and is overwhelmed with the responsibilities of running the business, performing desperately needed renovations on the cabins and grounds, and with caring for her dad. She is grateful to have the income that Sawyer’s stay will provide, but beyond that, she assumes he’s just another shallow, ego driven celebrity, as does her hilarious best friend, Jazlyn, who teases him and calls him Julia (a nod to Julia Roberts and her film Runaway Bride) for the entire book. That is, until he makes it his mission to prove both Fallon and Jazlyn wrong.

I can’t even express how much I adored Fallon and Sawyer together. I loved their easy banter and their obvious attraction to one another, but I appreciated the slow burn nature of the story because Sawyer has his work cut out for him, trying to prove he’s not the crazy, jealous guy the media has portrayed him to be. I thought it was so sweet how Sawyer would sneak around, secretly renovating small parts of the property to help Fallon out. The renovations not only gave him a much needed sense of purpose, but he also just really enjoyed doing his part to alleviate some of Fallon’s worries so that she could focus on her dad.

As sweet as the blossoming romance between Fallon and Sawyer was, my absolute favorite part of this book was Sawyer’s relationship with Sully. It was heartbreaking to watch Sully when he would have bad days because of the Alzheimer’s but the way Sawyer went out of his way to treat Sully with respect and dignity and gently help him through some of his worst moments was just so touching and heartwarming.

Runaway Groomsman was such a fantastic read for me! It’s both heartwarming and hilarious, and it’s filled with a wonderful cast of characters that you will fall completely in love with.

Oh man how do I say this?

I knew there was a reason why I didn't read more of Meghan Quinn's books, but I forgot that when I got this one

Like, I like the story, but boy is it slow. So, so slow. I like a slow burn, but this was just.. ugh too much.

To me, at least 1/4 of this book could have been cut and it would have been a better flowing read. There was just too much repetitive, same ol same ol stuff going on.

And I am sure this is my problem and so many others are going to just love this book.

But I guess Ms Quinn's books and I just aren't a good fit.

I'm booking a trip to Canoodle today!

Oh boy there is wedding mayhem, two birds that fly and one lost shoe that make for the perfect opening chapter to the Runaway Groomsman. Sawyer was tired of doing whats right, and goes off the deep end at his ex's wedding.

His meltdown lands him in a bar in Canoodle. Then he wakes in a old cabin, minus a shoe and nursing a severe hangover. But wait the women who is currently operating the resort, is a women he basically ghosted while actually on a date with him.

This romance is a page-turner, and Sawyer is a completely misunderstood man that grows on the reader. This slow burn romance is a second chance at righting their first date. Overall, I enjoyed this read and its cast of characters. We ALL need a friend like Jaz!!!

Thank you Montlake for the advance reader copy to read and review.

If anyone can do RomCom is is Meghan Quinn. She always makes me laugh and is honestly one of my go to authors for this type of story. The way this all started and in the long run played out for Sawyer was fun and witty. Enter Fallon and things get topsyturvey. I was living for the connection and the banter!

This book is simply one of the best small-town romance books ever existed and I LOOOOVE IT A LOT!

The characters are adorable, both the main characters are sweetheart and worth rooting for. I always loves the dual POVs, on this one I could really getting to know Sawyer and Fallon better, from their thoughts, history, concerns, dreams, and their feelings. They had amazing development and growth., especially growing from a friendship to lovers. How they understand each other, the chemistry, and their cute little moments especially when they working on the cabins renovation. All the side characters in Canoodle feels like real people who really exists and alive, with they perky behaviour and how all of them had their own parts and involvement to the story is endearing.

I think this book telling two love stories in parallel. I love how Sully and Joan relationship started and grew, with the Cabins as the prove/solidified their relationship. It's a cute story from the past and how almost similar the love story between Sawyer and Fallon is, althought it's based and solidified on fixing the cabins together.. Two different yet similar love stories from different generations, that's so beautiful. It shows me how love and relationship is earned and challenging, yet rewarding in the end.

TW: alzheimer patient. I love how nurturing and caring Fallon and Sawyer is when they;re taking care of Sully. It's very heartwarming.

This book is about a man who is forced to be a groomsman for his exbest friend and his exgirlfriend. They both betrayed him and he finally breaks at the wedding. He ends up in a small quirky town and starts to get his life back together. I loved the main characters, but the romance was too slow for me.

Hilarious and heartfelt, Runaway Groomsman kept me reading into the small hours of the morning. Compared to other Meghan Quinn books I've read, there was less angst and spice, but there was plenty of substance to this light rom-com.

In addition to the adorable main couple, Fallon and Sawyer, the book shines with a brilliant cast of secondary characters, in particular Sully, Fallon's grandfather, who is suffering from dementia, and Jaz, Fallon's fiercely protective, at times over the top and uncompromising best friend. Everyone deserves a Jaz fighting in their corner; her interactions with and treatment of Sawyer made me laugh out loud repeatedly.

I loved the many references, from the parallels to the nineties film Runaway Bride with Julia Roberts to the references to some of Quinn's own works, which were tied in nicely through Sawyer's occupation as a famous Hollywood screenwriter. Definitely a rom-com to pick up if you like a light, sweet slow-burn.

I love the Cinderella beginning that this story started with. That plus the small town quirkiness and banter between all the characters made this such an enjoyable read. I also loved all the “Easter eggs” from the authors other books as well. I did enjoy both Fallon and Sawyers perspectives on all the parts, how both of them had to grow in certain ways and had to grow with each other. I also loved Sully and his grumpiness.

Well Runaway Groomsman says it all. The synopsis is pretty accurate. Sawyer finds himself in a very peculiar situation in Canoodle, California. He hides out and tries to pick up the pieces.

I liked the story well enough but not a big favorite for me. The writing was great and the characters were well thought out. I wanted a bit more from the storyline. The best part for me was the first chapter when Sawyer left the altar and did a run, the rest was a little flat. Jaz's character was over the top. She comes across as mean and bossy and just left a sour taste to it.

🌟🌟🌟🌟 4/5 stars

Runaway Groomsman was another cute, steamy read from Meghan Quinn. This slowburn romance follows Sawyer, a famous screenwriter who gets asked to be a groomsman at his ex and best friend’s wedding. For obvious reasons, he runs away from the wedding and needs to find a place to lay low from the media. That place ends up being Canoodle, California, where he meets Fallon and sparks fly.

This was a very slow-burn, but it was filled with hilarious dialogue and lovable characters. There’s plenty of drama and miscommunication along with the adorable-ness as well. Overall, this was a fun romp and another great romance from Quinn!

I don't know what it is about the way Meghan Quinn tells a story, but every time I pick up one of her books, I get completely lost in the story and don't stop reading until I'm at the end. Runaway Groomsman is no exception to that rule, and it has got to be one of my all-time favorites from Meghan - and Sawyer is seriously a contender for my absolute most favorite MQ book boyfriend ever! Yes, he's pretty darn close to perfect. Minus that one miscommunication towards the end, I can't think of anything that I did love about Sawyer. And I loved Fallon just as much. She has one of the purest hearts, as she gave up her dreams to help her grandfather, Sully, fulfill his dreams for his rental cabins.

The slow burn between them......ooh man, it was delicious. I love me a good slow burn.....it just makes the payoff so much more satisfying! There are going to be those who say that Fallon had a boyfriend for most of the book and how could she move on to Sawyer so quickly (which I really don't think she did) - but really, she had checked out of that relationship way before Sawyer even entered the picture. Not saying it's right, but she was never emotionally connected to him in the same way she was Sawyer. He truly understood her and what was truly important to her.

And all the little connections to other Meghan Quinn books - seriously, I picked up on every single one of them and they made my heart so very happy!

I can't forget a mention of the side characters - oh man, did they provide such an entertaining supporting cast! From Jazz (every time she said Julia - I couldn't help but smile!) to Roarick to Sully to everyone in between, they just made this story even more special.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Runaway Groomsman. It was just so wonderful from start to finish, and I hope everyone that picks this one up falls in love with the town and residents of Canoodle as I did!

When telling my friend about this book, my review was “it’s good, but nothing you’d spank to”. She understood and so do you. It’s good, but steam is low. There’s a lot of knuckle and forehead kissing. Maybe that’s your kink. I will never kink shame. But that’s a lame kink.

Sawyer is a Hollywood romance screenwriter. His actress GF cheats on him w his best bud and he’s forced to be the best man. He snaps at the wedding, flips everyone off, and ghosts to a mountain town called Canoodle where he meets Fallon a quaint motel owner caring for her grandfather w Alzheimer’s. Fallon has a boyfriend who is a dry vagina if it were a human- not offensive, just nothing you would want.

Sawyer falls for Fallon fast and starts fixing up her dilapidated motel on the sly. He has no qualms flirting w the taken Fallon, but as soon as she quits her human vagina and tells Sawyer she’s into him, he can’t close the deal. She’s a consenting, horny woman asking for it. Put your thing in hers. This is how it works. Stop kissing her forehead.

I really enjoyed the first half of this one, but I lost interest a little when the main characters finally got together. Overall it was a sweet romance and well written. I liked the winks to romance books and movies the author scattered throughout. I would have loved more steam, less demented grandfathers (old people kill my book boners), and more of Sawyer’s sassy hottie brother. I’ll def check out more @meghanquinnbooks!

Sawyer Walsh is a groomsman in his best friend’s wedding. The crazy part is that his best friend is marrying his ex girlfriend. He makes a scene at the ceremony and runs out. He ends up in a small town Canoodle, California in hopes of laying low. He ends up staying at some family owned cabins. This is where he meets Fallon who is running the cabins and caring for her grandfather Sully. Sawyer ends up helping Fallon with renovations on the cabin so that they can have more reservations and keep the cabins open. Of course they will end up extremely close. I did enjoy this book and it was my first time reading a book by Meghan Quinn. I will say that if you have dealt with or currently are dealing with a loved one who has Alzheimer’s Disease that parts of this book could be hard to read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

After Sawyer runs away from his former best friend and former girlfriend’s wedding, he finds himself in a small town. Wanting a change of pace, he decides to stay for a while. While in the town of Canoodle, he meets all the interesting characters, including Fallon. Sawyer is so intrigued by Fallon and starts to do secret projects around her business to help her out. I did think there was a lot going on and the story dragged on a little too long.

3.75 ⭐️ A fun, cute slow burn second chance romance with a sexy cinnamon role hero

Thank you to netgalley and Montlake
for an ARC in return for an honest review

I've only read one other of Meghan Quinn's Book (The Highland Fling) but I really enjoyed it so as soon as I saw this on Netgalley I immediately requested it and I definitely plan to read more of her books!

I really enjoyed The Runaway Groomsman, particularly how unique Sawyer's back story and situation feels compared to other books in the genre while still having all the predictable and cliche parts of a romance that we all love!
I also loved how poignant this book was- Grandpa Sully's struggle with Alzheimer's and how those around him love and care for him felt so real and of course the secondary love story running through this book, Grandpa Sully's and Grandma Joan's was beautifully written. I liked that it wasn’t just a romance book, it was also a book about love in all it’s forms: love for your family, your friends, your work, your home✨

The Runaway Groomsman had some saucier scenes but nothing too explicit. It was a fluffy, cozy romance with a strong heroine and a hero who was the sweetest and soooo romantic! If you want to read the equivalent of a hallmark movie then this is the book for you

Runaway Groomsman is a slow burn rom-com with enemies to lovers trope. I found this book absolutely captivating. Sawyer has been cheated on by his girlfriend with his best friend and because they're all in the Hollywood scene he is forced to go along with their courtship and ultimately their wedding, until... he loses all control at the alter while listening to his ex read her vows. He ends up in a small mountain town called Canoodle, drunk, with an unexpected turn of events. He wakes up the next morning not remembering where he is or how he got there. Jaz has no remorse for him once her best friend Fallon recognizes who he is and realizes she once went on a blind date with him that didn't go well at all. There is so much to this beautiful story from Sully and Joan's love story to Sully's battle with alzheimers, to Fallon leaving her entire life behind in Palm Springs to move to Canoodle to care for her grandpa Sully and his cabin business, from Sawyer's once horrible date with Fallon to falling head over heels for her, yet she has a boyfriend, Peter from Palm Springs, from Sawyer getting schooled by Sully when Sully mistakes him for a contractor to help renovate the cabins. This isn't really a spicy rom-com, it's the banter between the characters that made the story enjoyable. You will be sure to fall in love with them and want everything to turn out for everyone, except maybe for Simon and Annalise.

Thank you Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

After making a very public scene at his ex-girlfriend's wedding, screenwriter Sawyer Castle flees from Hollywood... Cinderella style. And when he lands in the small town of Canoodle, Sawyer soon realizes that this place is exactly what he needs...

Fallon Long remembers Sawyer from one disappointing blind date, back when her life was extremely less complicated. And while she doesn't expect him to stay in town for long, Fallon is about to be surprised about way more than Sawyer's staying power...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Runaway Groomsman was a heartwarmingly funny and genuinely sweet read. Sawyer and Fallon once shared an excruciatingly awkward blind date, but meeting again under vastly different circumstances, they will soon come to realize just what, they have both been missing in their lives...
When Fallon moved to Canoodle, she not only took on caring for her ailing grandfather, but running his business as well. And while some days are better than others, Fallon would never trade her life for the one she left behind...
Sawyer lost it when his ex-girlfriend married his ex-best friend, and he was expected to just stand by and smile through their farce of a wedding. But what he didn't expect was the media fall-out from him finally snapping... during the actual ceremony. Stumbling upon Canoodle, Sawyer is not only presented an opportunity to lay low and get his career back on track, but to find direction in his life that he has been missing for many years...
This book was such a great read! I really enjoyed the love story between Fallon and Sawyer, but the amazing cast of supporting characters really stole the show. The fascinating townspeople of Canoodle brought many quirky and hilarious moments while Fallon and Sawyer worked through their unlikely friendship, turned relationship.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
