I have yet to find a book written by Shalini boland that I haven't like. This one I loved ! It jumps straight into a total absorbing plot, one that keeps you guessing till the end. Finishing with a brilliant plot twist and very clever ending .
I could happily read anything this author writes and know I won't be able.to put it down.

Well, that was not what I was expecting. I found myself trying to guess where this book was going and I was wrong...I was okay with being wrong though. This was a good book, with a twist, I wasn't ready for.

This was a great psychological thriller that kept me listening for hours at a time! While I did find it to be a little predictable, I liked the pace of the book and the suspense. The beginning of the book starts with Mia who was found washed up on the beach with no memory at all. She is taken to the hospital and thankfully claimed by someone. But since she has no memory of her life, she has no idea who she can trust. Mia was a likable character and I loved that we were learning things about her life as she did, due to her amnesia. When the truth comes out at the end, there is quite the surprise that makes everything finally make sense. A solid story by Shalini Boland!

I listened to this as an audiobook and greatly enjoyed the performance by Katie Villa.

The girl from the sea was easy to listen too and quick to get drawn into, it is a reasonable amnesia story but the twist at the end definitely makes it worth the read.

The beginning of this story quickly grabs the reader, and the mystery is already underway when the protagonist, Mia, washes up on a beach with amnesia. Mia struggles to remember who she is, what happened to her, and who she can trust in her life.

The author weaves together bits and pieces of who Mia was before the memory loss through encounters she has with her family, partner, and friends. The reader goes along with Mia as she attempts to sort out who is telling the truth and whether what happened to her was an accident or more malicious. The twists were believable and not too predictable, the pace was fast-moving and suspenseful, and the reveals were satisfying with a hint of dark edge. I enjoyed this book and will look for others from the author. If you enjoy mysterious and dark plotlines where suspicion bounces between characters, this is one for the TBR list.

Interesting storyline, but the narrator and recording were not the best. The audio sounded as though she were in a tunnel or underwater part of the time, which distracted from the overall of the book. I will grab a copy of this book when it releases and read again, which may change how I view the overall plot and drive of the story.

Mia is found washed up on the beach with no memory of how she got there or who she is. Who can she trust? Was it an accident or did someone try to kill her? The amnesia story has been done many, many times. This was going to be a three star for me, being rather predictable, but then…the final twist, I did not see coming! Brought right up to a four star read! This story was fast paced, and it was easy read. There were a couple things I’d have liked to have closure on, but overall an enjoyable read. I've got a soft spot for amnesia thrillers, so when a book opens with the main character washed up unconscious on a beach with no memory of who she is that's a promising start.

A psychological domestic thriller, Mia must try to piece the mystery of her life together. Boyfriend? Family? Neighbours? Business partners? She doesn’t recognise any of them.

The narration is very good, capturing Mia's anxiety and confusion very well. The story flows nicely as each clue Mia finds leads her to search for the next one. Mia definitely grows and changes as a character, as pieces of the puzzle slot into place and some memories start to return.

The twist is clever, and there's a beautifully cold dread running through the latter stages. I can't fault how it was told, the plot appears relatively simple but the twists reveal hidden layers and new meanings to what you thought you, and Mia, thought you knew.

Enjoyable, different And recommended.

The book is set in an idealised version of the town in which actually live, and found it hugely distracting and immersion-breaking. Putting that aside, I kept waiting for something to happen, and I got to the 90% mark before there was any kind of thrilli g element. There was an entire abandoned plot line about the MC's family that seemed like filler in an already foamy book.

I listened to the audio version of this book and enjoyed it thoroughly. While listening, I thought it was familiar and realized I read it years ago! It was even better with the narrator and I highly recommend!

A girl is pulled from the sea in Dorset and is lucky to be alive. She is suffering from amnesia and can't even remember her own name. The reader follows Mia's journey as she learns more about the woman she was 'before' the incident; but the more she discovers, the more questions she ends up with.

This book was 'ok'; I enjoyed listening to it but it just wasn't all that exciting. I'm terrible at guessing plot twists, but I saw this one coming a mile off making it somewhat predictable. The premise and writing were good, it just didn't WOW me.

I requested this one because it might be an upcoming title I would like to review on my Youtube Channel. However, after reading the first several chapters I have determined that this book does not suit my tastes. So I decided to DNF this one.

I can see why this book has been chosen for production of an audio so long after initial publication - it makes an excellent subject for an audio book. Told in the first person by Mia, who has lost her memory in an 'accident', the Narrator does an excellent job of bringing her to life - you really empathise with her plight, not knowing who to trust. I haven't previously read the book but I can imagine that it's probably better in audio format than written format. The story itself is an excellent suspense/thriller - there are a few surprises and a few twists; although In terms of the characters, knowing the outcome I'm not sure that Jack would realistically act as he did towards Mia (which is my only criticism of the book). Many thanks to NetGallery and Bookouture Audio for allowing me to get a copy of the audio book - it was an extremely enjoyable 7 hours!

A dark thriller that I binged in one day. She is told her name is Mia James and tries to put together what her live was like before the incident. Though not everyone is who they say or the friend they portray. Mia needs to realise this before it’s too late.
Highly recommended read.

This is a short and sweet thriller about a woman who wakes up on the beach, unsure of who she is or what has happened. She has amnesia and knows she was near death, but doesn't know if it was an accident or something more sinister that got her there. When they discover who she is, we find out she has a serious boyfriend, $8 million, and a love for rowing. She also has an attraction to her rowing coach. Her boyfriend seems to be milking her for her money, her mom and sister are estranged for the same reason, and we're just unsure who this girl can trust. In the end, we find out the details and while I definitely saw part of it coming, it was still a good ending.

SPOILERS AHEAD:
It was Jack (the rowing coach) that tried to kill her. They started an affair and she threatened to tell his wife. They had a confrontation on the beach and the wife fell and died. Jack came and saw and was so mad he tried to kill our main character. Then he tried again in the end, along with her neighbor/his sister, and the 2 of them get put in jail for attempted murder while she gets off scot free. However, we know that in the end, she is the true bad guy.

4.5 A woman washes up on a beach and has no idea who she is and where she came from. This amnesia premise reminded me a lot of Before I Go to Sleep by S. J. Watson.
As Mia starts to slowly navigate back to her life, while still not knowing who she really is or how she got there, she discovers secrets that challenge her beliefs about love and family.
While I did enjoy the thriller part of not knowing, it did get predictable about 50 % in.
I would recommend this book for a nice beach read or a getaway novel, its thrilling, fast paced and does not disappoint.

Psychological thrillers can take you down many paths and this one had me on the fence wondering which path the story would take. Just when I thought I figured out what was going to happen, I was jerked back to take a different path that I just didn't see coming.

Mia, the principal figure in this thriller, is found unconscious on the beach. How did she get there? Where did the bump on her head come from? And who is she??? Of the characters, who is the nice guy, and who is a royal jerk? It's all a perfect guessing game with great prose and captivating writing.

Boland keeps you guessing throughout the whole book right up to its surprise ending. I enjoyed the narration, done by Katie Villa, which kept me filled with anticipation and on my toes trying to figure out where Boland was taking me. I was able to tell which character was speaking and her steady cadence was impactful on the storyline.

Much enjoyed and looking forward to catching up with more of the author's writings.

She quickly finds she leads an idyllic life with a fiancé, friends, and family all eager to help her out the pieces back together… but can they be trusted? Do they want her to remember, or is it better for them if her past remains a mystery. And what about the flashbacks she’s started to have? Are these memories, hallucinations from her head trauma or something more sinister? What if someone meant to do her harm and her being in the water was no accident?
I enjoy a psychological thriller that have a vibrant setting, characters/narration I’m not sure if I can trust, and a twist I didn’t see coming. Girl From the Sea absolutely delivered! I was hooked from the start of this fast moving plot, and finished the book in one sitting! Very clever ending!! Absolutely recommend this book and will be returning to this author!

This is my first book from this author and boy what a ride!
I actually listened to the Audio version of the book. I listen to audio books most days and this Audio really stood out with both the story line and the quality of the delivery. The story concept is indeed very intriguing, with a massive twist you will not see coming!
The narrator of the Audio is spectacular so the whole experience is very pleasant.
My only comment would be to add more descriptive scenes of the lovely scenery. Indeed, many readers/listeners are international and would benefit from more them as it would improve the whole experience.
I was not a fan of the conclusion but that's just me.
