3.5/5 stars. this is a historical fantasy with a much, much more emphasis on history than the TVD duet was. i’m not a huge fan of political narratives in fantasy fiction which affected how much i liked the first 2/3 of the book but the last third was the writing and plot i know and love. the cliffhanger…. BOOK TWO NOW

Just finished Foul Lady Fortune and normally I wait a few hours to write a review but I'll do it now as I am screaming and crying. Chloe Gong, you've done it again. I didn't think I'd like this as much as These Violent Delights, but I do! I didn't like Orion as much as I loved Roma(whenever Juliette and him are mentioned in this book I sob), but this still had identity reveals and parallels that had me on the floor. I love love love Alisa in this and PHOEBE?? Phoebe new love of my life also that epilogue ending?? Also I was super happy to see the demisexual representation in this!! This also had the fake marriage trope. I'd recommend if you liked her other books!
