“Evelyn Elizabeth Grace Murphy, the owner’s daughter. I’m quite good at finding things”
“But halfway down the hall, I stumbled upon a dead body”
“Hercule Poirot would have figured this out already”
Yes, yes, yes !!! I needed another Miss Murple at Bertram Hotel !!!!
I absolutely loved this book !!!
The mystery, the investigation, the gossip, the rumours, the friendship and a bit of romance … with the background of some great Poirot and Miss Marple quotes in the middle … chef kiss!!!!!
I’m so glad I had the chance to read it !!!
I needed it. An amazing female leading character, Evelyn, a bit crazy, spoiled definitely, but amazing with past traumas and a strange ability to find what’s lost!!!
A friend who’s hiding a secret she can’t figure out and another friend that maybe is a bit more !
All together living under the same roof in an hotel owed by her father where a theft and a murder happens … loved it !!!!
She is just like Miss Marple, stepping in between the investigation and living clues to the police and using the help of everyone there !! But at the same times she really likes Poirot’s method of investigation (the final scene where everything is revealed … just like him!!!) !!!!
Honestly a great book !!! I hope more people will read it as soon as it is out !!!
And I’ll be more than interested in future mysteries Evelyn may try to solve!!
“First things first: rule out the probable and then worry about the improbable”
“Wherever you need me, that’s where I’ll go”
“This better be worth it, Miss Marple”
“You and your detective novels”

What a delicious read. I need more of Evelyn, Mac and Presley. Actually I want to be Evelyn. Evelyn is a clever, glamorous, spoiled, vain girl with a nose for mysteries and finding things. This talent tends to get her in a load of trouble which she manages to escape With her wits, money, position and a lot of help from Mac. My favorite part of the book was her relationship with Mac. They were steamy and cute with lots of entertaining banter. Best of all, he was the perfect sidekick. I also, enjoyed the glamour. We had the fact that she is the beard of a famous movie star, her wardrobe, the Rolls and the Ritzy hotel itself with all of its secrets. The mystery was fun as well if a bit predictable. But it was the characters, especially Evelyn and Mac and their capers that made this read a delight. Of course, I can’t forget Amelia who gave the story a dash of Eloise at the plaza. I am a sucker for books set in hotels and this one did not disappoint. I hope we get more stories of Evelyn, Mac, Presley and the Pinnacle hotel.

The Socialite’s Guide to Murder is a mystery with a fast-paced plot and an interesting way the story comes together in the end.

Evelyn is an heiress who lives in the Pinnacle Hotel, a luxurious place owned by her father. She has the run of the place with everyone at her back and call. This aristocrat is put to work when an unsuspecting artist turns up dead with his highly anticipated work of art missing as well. Evelyn must use the tools at her disposal to solve this mystery before she herself becomes a victim.

While I enjoyed how the story came together at the end, I was not really a fan of Evelyn’s character. She was extremely entitled and used people for her own means. She was definitely an off-putting main character, because of this I didn’t find her antics as cute or as funny as the author probably intended.

Many thanks to Crooked Lane Books and Netgalley for this title in exchange for my honest review.

There was something about this book that set me on edge. I did not find it to be very funny I suppose it may have been a matter if interpretation. I did not like Evelyn I found her to be pretentious and fatuous. She was the princess of the hotel and treated people with indifference as she used them for her own needs. This storyline just hit me wrong.

Curiously sweet, with no gore and a few fun surprises (including a daaaarling little puppy). A great way to spend an afternoon. One whole extra star awarded for that lovely cover.

Laugh out loud funny! Evelyn is the rich 1950's Princess of the Pinnacle, in New York. Evelyn is a socialite - A socialite that is also a recluse. When a murder happens at the Pinnacle (Which happens to be her father's hotel,) Evelyn will stop at nothing to determine which of the hotel guests is the culprit. Everyone is a suspect, even her best friend!

Well written and leaving the author at the edge of their seat until the big reveal. This is one of the lighter reads that I have read in 2022, and I hope there is thoughts of a series. I am sure I'm not alone wanting to read about other shenanigans Evelyn gets into!

In the style of the old mystery writers, this book was fun, engaging, and sweet. I loved the nods to Miss Marple and Poirot. Evelyn Murphy is a great character, and I look forward to reading more in this series.

Irresistible Premise…
1958, The Pinnacle Hotel, and agoraphobic Evelyn has not left the hotel for fourteen months. The hotel is her sanctuary. When sinister events occur Evelyn chooses to investigate. Everyone’s a suspect and Evelyn will root them out. A joyous read brimming with a quirky and eccentric cast and with an irresistible premise which delivers in droves. Hopefully this will be the first of many to come.

What a hoot! Loved this quirky and wonderful book. Set in the late 50’s, Evelyn, the only daughter of the wealthiest man lives on the top floor of their classy hotel, The Pinnacle. Evelyn is intelligent, stylish, the girlfriend of famous movie star Henry, and the darling of the hotel. Everything is perfect until a theft and murder is committed during one of the hotel parties and Evelyn feels the need to solve both cases. Especially when as a child she found her mother murdered outside the hotel and the killer never found.

This is a mystery set in the hotel with wonderfully diverse characters, especially Evelyn, a great plot, and so much fun to read. I’m hoping this is the start of a series because I hate to think of leaving Evelyn and the cast of characters forever. They’re too much fun and Evelyn is a very complex character and there is so much more to learn about her. The cover is perfect as well!

The Great Gatsby meets Poirot in this wonderful book. An intelligent but reclusive socialite spends her days in her family’s hotel, while also solving crimes. Interesting, engaging and I loved the setting. Such a fun story that keeps you guessing until the very end!. I am so glad I had the opportunity to read and review this for NetGalley.
