I am loving this series of classics read by Gildart Jackson. Each one has a unique feel, even with the common thread of the crackling fire, as he brings the stories to life. He does a great job embracing the spirit of the books and their characters. I highly recommend!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a chance to listen to this audiobook. The narrator has a very soothing and whimsical voice that helped make the characters come to life. I would definitely recommend this to all young and old!

I love the Fireside Reading series. Gildart Jackson does a great job of using voices and inflections to read the story to keep you entertained the entire time. This reading of Alice in Wonderland was no different. I recommend checking it out!

I received an audio ARC of this book in exchange for my unbiased opinion.

I have always enjoyed the story of Alice and Wonderland. I think it is fun, weird, and a great story, but I am not much of a fan of this audiobook. I thought the narration was not the greatest. He seemed to drag the story out a bit too long.

Fireside Reading of Alice in Wonderland
Lewis Carroll
I normally like fairy tales, fantasies, and such but I did not enjoy listening to this reading of Alice in Wonderland. I was bored. I have read Alice in Wonderland and thought it a delightful step into fantasy. I can not quite pinpoint what did not appeal to me. The reader had a great voice and yet I was irritated just listening. The long pauses seemed unprofessional. I found this audible book disappointing.

This was so sweet. It brought me right back to being a little girl and having people read books to me. I had my baby son and listen to this as we rocked in the rocking chair on our back porch as we settled down for the night.

Fireside Reading of Alice in Wonderland AUDIO by Lewis Carroll is a wonderful concept but fell short in the choice of a reader, Gildart Jackson The text was riddled with overlong pauses and hesitations. Early on there were character voices in falsetto, a poor technique. Thankfully it was never employed with Alice. It was wonderful to be reintroduced to this classic and I enjoyed it, even as I shuddered at the narrator's technique.

I was invited to listen to a recording of Fireside Reading of Alice in Wonderland by Dreamscape Media, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #dreamscapemedia #gildartjackson #lewiscarroll #firesidereading #aliceinwonderland

Alice in Wonderland is one of my all time favorite stories, due largely in part to the fantasy, impossibility and nonsensical attributes. It's a fun and whimsical story that keeps you hanging on from start to finish. That said, I was not a fan of the narration; the voice was great and ability to voice different characters enjoyable. However, the flow was off, words emphasized that shouldn't have been causing one to believe a sentence has ended in an awkward place, although it continues. I also found the volume and tone to be annoyingly all over the place. #firesidereadingofaliceinwonderland #netgalley

Audiobook from NetGalley.

I found the audio extremely difficult to follow. The voices went from whisper to loud without any rational reason. Thus taking what I hope every time I pick up a book as a great experience to are you kidding me. Since this was from NetGalley I persevered. Otherwise, I would not have finished.

I was familiar with only the title of the story. I found the story itself ridiculous. This is listed as Children's fiction and yet reads as a drug-induced trip.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for accepting my request to read and review this Fireside Reading.

Recently I've been hearing about these Fireside Reading audiobooks and how enjoyable they are. They're supposed to be like it was when families would sit around the fire, the table, in the living room together and listen to a story being read or told out loud. I remember experiencing this when I was younger and doing that some with my little kids now and this audio is very much like that. It gives that kind of feeling and leaves you with warm fuzzies of being cozy together with others while listening to an enthralling story.
I've read and heard Alice in Wonderland before, but never quite like this. Both I and my kids enjoyed listening to this a lot with how well the audio is done, the experience you have while listening and how well Gildart Jackson does as the narrator doing all the voices and bringing the story, the world, and the characters to life.
Alice in Wonderland is a timeless classic about the little girl, Alice, going on her adventures chasing the white rabbit, changing sizes, meeting the Mad Hatter, and talking to all the unique characters in Wonderland. The narration and audio of this are incredible and extremely well done. Listening to this audio makes the story that much better.
I highly recommend checking out and listening to this audiobook and all of the Fireside Reading audiobook series too. Thanks so much to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for letting me listen and review this ALC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is an absolutely wonderful audio book. I am a long-time fan of Alice in Wonderland. Even as an adult, I thoroughly enjoyed the story in this format. It truly is like sitting by the fire having a wonderful storyteller read the tale. The narrator does unique voices for all the characters, and the narration is so relaxing. I can easily see putting on a few minutes of this audio book here and there just to relax and unwind. I would love to have more classics from this audio book series.

Perfectly nonsensical! A classic that I love, and this was a fun audio interpretation of it. It felt like listening to my own father or grandfather reading to us when we were kids. Will definitely pick up more from this series of Fireside reading!

This is a review of the Fireside Reading of Alice in Wonderland, narrated by Gildart Jackson, the ISBN for which does not appear in Goodreads.

At just 3.5 hours, this was the perfect book to listen to as I unpacked and organized after one of my road trips. The narrator was appropriately enthusiastic about reading the book. He did his own different character voices that were subtle enough to not be farcical. He wasn’t Jim Dale, but he was engaging enough.

The narration did not stray from the classic text. Even so, there were many vignettes that I didn’t recall from the original, most likely because I had read the original so long ago. Overall, it felt like an elderly uncle was reading me a story to soothe me. It definitely had that effect.

I received this audiobook as a digital advance reader copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.

My five year old and I used this audio as a read along with a lovely illustrated copy I own. I thought I t was a nice addition to our daily reading but my daughter didn’t enjoy the narrator so I finished listening on my own.

I do think he did a fine job but there was something that made it less enjoyable. Maybe the echo or some of background sounds. I can’t quite put my finger on it.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the chance to listen and honestly review.

An enjoyable rendition of a classic by an excellent voice actor. This is my second of the Fireside Reads and I would certainly listen to more. This reminded me of my childhood copy of this book with the original illustrations.
I remembered a lot of the story but had forgotten quite a bit too.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Productions for allowing me to listen to an ARC of this audio book.

The concept of the Fireside Reading books is a wonderful one. It is the brainchild of Gildart Jackson who attempts to replicate a time long gone when families would sit around a fire and be read a story. In my family, it was my father, He would read one chapter a night. When I went to summer camp, one of the counselors would pick a book after all we campers were in our sleeping bags. We'd fall asleep listening to another wonderful book. That is how I first read The Hobbit.

It's been so long since I've read Alice in Wonderland that it didn't matter to me that it is a book for children. I wanted the experience of having it read to me. I wanted to hear Mr. Jackson simulate all the different characters and make it interesting to an older adult like me. He read wonderfully. He is a true master. In another Fireside book, he said that his father used to read to him and, at the end of his father's life, he returned the favor.

Children will especially love these audio books. I hope that families take advantage of the gift and all listen together. They could even gather around a fireplace and then talk together after.

And as for Lewis Carroll's story. It was written 150 years ago and still is as entertaining now as I'm sure it was then. There are wonderful characters, ingenious storylines, and wonderful poetry that had me grinning as I remembered them from my childhood.

Take advantage of this wonderful gift of Gildart Jackson and share with your family. Let's make sure he keeps them coming!

I have listened to several of these Fireside Readings and I really enjoy them all. They are so much fun and relaxing and I really like the Narrator. I plan on buying all of these as downloadables so I can listen to them as I drift off to sleep.

I can't wait to see the next book that they put out in this series.

Listening to this has been such a treat! Audio books have become a part of our bedtime routine and the story teller’s voice was amazing! He did the voices wonderfully! I look forward to hearing more stories this way.

This has always been one of my favorite, if not my favorite classic. I have read it countless times, though never on audiobook. It was a really fun experience to read one of my favorite childhood books in a different medium. This is my third book with this narrator and he does a wonderful job.
I always find it really fun how many exact or close to exact lines the Disney movie took from the story. I kind of wish this had included Through the Looking Glass too so I could have the whole picture because I love that one too with the inclusion of a few things that were in the movie but not in Alice's Adventures.
I have actually been meaning to check this audio out from my library, so it was perfect timing when this popped up and I was approved!
