"The Many Dates of Indigo" is a debut romance novel by Amber D. Samuel. However, it was a bit of a miss for me. 2.5⭐

Indigo owns a high-end shoe store and is tired of family members asking when she is going to get married and have kids. She jumps back in the dating pool to see if it's as bad as she remembers. We find out in the prologue that she gets married soon in the future, and the story follows Indigo as she spends time with three very different men.

I liked that Indigo had high standards for a partner and was determined not to settle for less. I also thought the descriptions of her shoes and fashion choices were really fun! However, I connected more to her friends than I did to the men in her life, so I wasn't very interested in her dates. I also felt like the ending was overly sweet for me - I tend to prefer "happy for now" endings rather than endings that emphasize marriage as the ultimate goal.

4.5 stars but rounding up for the review! Note this is a CLEAN romance!

Ms. Samuel…if you’re reading this I have to say, YOU DID THAT!

The Many Dates of Indigo is a book I throughly enjoyed. The banter was so fun and really enjoyed how authentically Black the characters felt. I loved that Indigo was full person - an entrepreneur who was creative and could cook. I liked the inclusion the inclusion of her family and how they were shown in a positive and healthy light. Her friendships with Hazel and Emery were great and I’m hoping this becomes a series where we get a little bit more of their lives.

I loved that this book showed all sides of dating both emotions and events that may occur. My only complaint was the timeline of the story. I think it was realistic but a bit hard to follow in the beginning.

Overall a really great debut! I’d recommend to those looking for friends to lovers tropes, love (Black) romcoms and anyone looking for something light and clean.

3 ☆} With all the craziness going on in my life right now, reading a short and sweet book such as this one was really refreshing. Despite the fact that it took me a little more time than it usually does for me to get into a book, I still really enjoyed it.

I liked the characters portrayed in this book along with the storyline, however, it felt a little surface-level…

A point that I would also like to make is that some parts were a little confusing — like the dialogue for example. I’m sure it’s just because of the way the text was set up, but it would still make it a little hard to understand who was saying what at certain points if the story.

Other than those small points, the book was very enjoyable. I would definitely read it again in the future if I’m looking for something to keep me entertained!

I would like to thank both Wattpad books and Netgalley for this arc.

This was a really easy, very fun read for me. I loved how this book showcased the imperfections that come with dating. Indigo’s relationship with her employee/friend Hazel really gave me sitcom boss worker relationships (ie Maya and Joan, Kadejah and Sinclair) and it was hilarious. The end was predictable, but believable so not a bad thing for me. Although I do feel as if it was tad bit rushed.

For me this book gets 3.5 out of 5. If you love a cute sitcom feel type story, this is definitely for you.

Thank you Wattpad and Netgalley for the arc! I read this book over the weekend and it was cute, funny and just what I needed to get me out of my reading rut! At almost 30 years old I want to be Indigo - fierce, a boss & have amazing friends/family around me. Indigo has everything accept a man! We are taken on a wild roller coaster ride of all of indigos dates just to realize the right one is in her face the whole time! I really enjoyed this read!

Indigo Clark is about to turn 30. She owns a high end shoe boutique 👠 and loves her dog, but after years of being single, she’s starting to feel the pressure to find a partner. She decides to put herself out there and see what happens.

I love Indigo! She’s so relatable especially in her relationships with her friends and family. I think there could’ve been a bit more distinction among the friends (I couldn’t tell them apart) but it was a fun, realistic group of people. The love interests were entertaining and distinct. There were no dramatic good guy or bad guy stereotypes that you tend to find in love triangle situations which I appreciated.

It was a bit repetitive when it came to her BFF Nate but I had a lot of fun with this read and would love to read more of this author’s work. This is an excellent book option for those who are looking for a mildly spicy romance.

Thank you to @netgalley and @wattpad books I for this ARC for review.

I received this ARC from NetGalley in return for an honest review!

Every now and then we come across a strong character ready to take control of their dating lives and Indigo was no different. I really enjoyed this story and felt it was a fresh take on finding mister right with a dose of reality and all the pressures that goes with the dating journey. With her 30th birthday on the horizon and her family rushing her to settle down Indigo opens herself to dating options which makes her choice in the end not the easiest but the best for her.
Loved the family dynamics and the support system that came with Indigo's circle. The chemistry between the characters were so palpable I found myself cheering them on and hoping for the happily ever after.

Happy reading!

Can I be Indigo if I ever get reincarnated??? She is gorgeous, fabulous, funny, and in control! Well, of everything except that old biological clock.

With her life in order, Indigo has decided now is the perfect time to get started on the 2.5 kids - sans permanent partner if need be.

Indigo's very own three Amigos; Tate, Hazel, and Emery - every girl should have their own equivalent of these three! They are Indigo's grounders, cheerleaders, and sounding boards all rolled into one big package!

I'm all too aware of snarky comments over when or if hubby and I were having kids, so to face that on your own as Indigo does would just have thrown me over the edge. (In fact, I was still in hospital having just given birth when I was asked when we were having the next!!!!)

Enter Nathan - a man good with his hands but dull as dishwater. Diego - hotshot attorney but everything is a competition. But sometimes loves right there in front of you and you have to almost lose a thing to see it for the perfection he is.

Brilliant world creation, with sympathetic and funny characters, a great secondary supporting cast, and a believable storyline. Would heartily recommend it to anyone as a great read. My first read by this author but won't be my last!

Indigo is a happening woman. Strong, business owner, with a circle of family and friends she should feel on top of the world. But she’s facing 30 and has no man. So she decides to find her man.
My allegiances shifted each time she dated a different guy. I thought one of them was too smarmy and slick. The one who adored and loved her was right under her nose. Indigo knows it, but fights it for one big reason.
I liked Indigo, I liked her personality, her style, and her love of vintage cars. I also like that she was unwilling to settle and finally avail herself to the man who best completed her.
No more dates necessary for Indigo!

This book just speaks to me. It a story literally based on my experience and the author just perfectly perfected it. There are differences. The main MC is knows what she want but knowing the person was always there and she knows it but doesn’t act on it. There are instances where I’m like “it’s very clear ma’am” and she just says the opposite or don’t want to act on it. The two others men are just red flags. One makes assumptions and the other tried to take the lead and is very assertive. I don’t like that. He gives me bad vibes. Im glad with her choice in the end and although it was difficult she went with her heart. This book is amazing and it just really speaks to me.

The Many Dates of Indigo was a solid 3 out 5 stars for me. I enjoyed Indigo’s character and her inner monologues. Seeing her journey to her 30th birthday and learning to love again was fun. I wish she has been a more fleshed out character and more “showing” and less “telling”. This wasn’t a bad book and it did keep me entertained till the end. I just think it needed a little more depth to it.

*Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.*

This book was just awesome, not only do we get the humor, I love humor in romance novels, we get the most amazing family and the best group of friends ever. We meet Indigo, who is about to turn 30, is an entrepreneur, and she’s only missing one thing, a man. And of course in this society something must be wrong with a woman who has it all but marriage with kids, this is Indigo’s reality, and you can tell she’s FED UP, and so was I!! But all of this searching for the right man, and little did she know that she had one right by her side the WHOLE TIME!!! Come on girl!!! Lol. I really enjoyed this one.

Thanks NetGalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

Indigo is having a hard time finding a partner who is her perfect fit. So she fills her social calendar to find a potential match. But has the perfect man been in front of her the whole time?
I DNF'd this at 3%. I know, I know. I usually give books a better chance before I chose to DNF them, but this one hit a little too close to home for me. As a single, childless woman, both by choice, I found this pressure on Indigo very annoying (as I undergo the same type of pressure and think it really is none of anybody's business), and I just couldn't push through. Entirely a me thing, nothing to do with the story or the writing, this is just a touchy subject for me (I know I sound surly, but I assure you, I'm not, and I am very happy with my life!). But it doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a try!
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Absolutely loved the story even though I knew how it would end. The main character was well developed. I wished we could have seen the story unfold from the POV of her best friend. Not quite sure if the afro fits the MC on the cover based on description ls in the book but I love it anyway.

Overall this was a very cute, enjoyable and somewhat relatable story. Some parts didn’t flow as well as the others and came off quite choppy. Although I enjoyed the ending, it wasn’t the heartfelt, gut punch that I was expecting after learning all about Indigo.

Also….about halfway through I realized that we could have least 3 spin-offs from this novel, will that happen?! We’ll have to see. Would I read all three? Absolutely!!

** Thank you to Netgalley for this e-ARC **

Okay, honestly this book was so good! Like, I was trying to savor this book and take my time with it. I never heard of the author but now that I do and I found out that she's on Wattpad I'm gonna read her books. I really love her style of writing, it was very different to me and personally, I enjoy it. From the plot, the plot twists, the characters, oh and it ended with a HEA. I love romances that end with a HEA. I really love and enjoyed reading this book and I recommended it.

Wow, what a wonderful ride.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

Indigo is - *AHEM* - a BOSS ASS B*TCH in her own words, and I agree.

This book was not exactly binge-worthy only because the characters and storyline are so deep and connected. Loveable characters and love in general are what make this book amazing.

I can't wait for Amber Samuel's next book! I hope there will be a next book...

Indigo is almost 30 years old, great career, is sexy, intelligent, nice home and car but no man. Her family wants her to be married with kids. She wants a perfect man but when she sees fit like her shoe company?
What drew me to this book is the cover. It was a beautiful, sexy, dark-skinned woman on the cover. I love the concept of what the author was getting at but it somehow missed the point. It was okay but could have been more unpredictable.
I give this book 3 stars.

I loved this book. I remember seeing it on Wattpad for this first time thinking this is something I’d like to read. I love the dynamics you see with her family and friends. And the different people you meet in the story. My favorite is Tate. He’s a funny character and a good friend. I’d absolutely read this book again.
