“She knew she didn’t need completing because she was already whole.”

Thank you Amber D. Samuel, W by Wattpad Books, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review! The Many Dates of Indigo is available 12/6/22.

Indigo Clark is an accomplished, independent woman. Now she wants a partner to share her fabulous life. Standing on the sidelines of her sister’s third baby shower with her thirtieth birthday around the corner, Indigo is feeling the pressure about one thing she hasn’t yet mastered: a healthy, long-term relationship. As owner of Houston’s hottest destination for luxury shoes and accessories, Indigo excels at finding clients the perfect shoe, but she’s having a hard time finding a partner who is her perfect fit. She needs a man who can handle her busy life, get along with her tight-knit friends, including Tate ,her childhood bestie. While one guy is great on paper, and another sets off spark, neither are Mr. Right. And her dire to find him begins to interfere with the things and people she values most. Can Indigo let go of past hurts and unrealistic expectations and finally admit to herself that her perfect man has been in front of her the whole time?

I really enjoyed this book. I loved reading about the close relationship Indigo has with not only her family, but her friends as well. This was a cute and easy read. In my opinion it did show the real reality of what dating can be like as an adult, especially if you don’t want to swipe left or right on an app. I gave “The Many Dates of Indigo” 3.5 ⭐️’s.

This writing style was just not for me. Indigo clearly loved Tate but the writing did a really bad job of showing it. They should have spent way more time together and I think at least one chapter should have been from Tate's pov.

I received an arc through netgalley.

Indigo is an independent, small business owner feeling the pressure of her impending 30th birthday, and her mother is throwing her a huge soiree in her honor. But - Indigo needs to bring a date. So she dips her toes back into the dating pool to find a date for her 30th birthday party. She also wants to find a life partner to settle down with, and eventually have children.

I liked the romantic premise, however, I found it odd that Indigo’s own mother would require her to have a date to her own birthday party? I also didn’t like any of the romantic options other than Tate. Diego is a raging asshole whose meet-cute was ridiculous and far-fetched. If a man came into my shoe store and started harassing my employee about returning a pair of shoes, the last thing I would want to do is date them, and I sure as hell wouldn’t return the a-hole’s credit card IN-PERSON. That dumbass can come get it when he gets a better attitude! Nathan seemed nice, and I appreciate the honesty about his alcoholism, but he just seemed bland after they first met.

It was also confusing when multiple people were speaking in a scene. The writing felt like a never-ending sentence at some points in these scenes, and a lot of the scenes themselves felt like filler, even the dates! There wasn’t a strong enough main plotline to weave everything together, but I also think I didn’t jive with the writing. Every new chapter felt jarring and scattered, like the writer picked us up and put us down somewhere too abrupt to carry the same tone or story.

I did enjoy the friendships and the relatable relationships in this book. I also enjoyed the plethora of food descriptions! The author is obviously a foodie, but some of the outfit descriptions were a little frustrating and bogged down the narrative.

This was definitely a comfort read with zero anxiety and anticipation, so if you're looking for something predictable and calming with a strong female lead, I would recommend it.

It is so hard to talk about this book without writing about who she ends up with....

So I'll focus on how bada@# she is. We never talk enough about FMC even in romance when usually she's the whole point.

Indigo is a riot, and so are her family and friends! Watching her meet so many handsome men but her problem is choosing between them? SIGN ME UP!

Amber Samuel does a really good job at writing realistic fiction (especially towards the end when the thing and the other thing happen and then you find out the thing?!)

We love a Black Romance 💝

Indigo Clark is approaching 30 and feeling pressured to settle down. It doesn’t seem to matter that she’s the owner of a luxury boutique where all your fashion needs are met. Everyone only seems to care about when she’s going to find a partner and pop out a baby. Indigo is ready to jump back into the dating pool and leave the past hurt behind. There are a few potential suitors, but the best one could have always been right in front of her. The cover of this book drew me in. I could also really connect with Indigo’s struggles, too. Nearing 30 years old can be daunting. There’s a lot of pressure to fit the mold. Society has this perception that if you are 30 and unmarried without children, you are going about life wrong. If you are looking for a fluffy romance and a strong female lead, I would recommend this read. It was so sweet and definitely a book I will reread.
I received this ARC from NetGalley and reviewed it voluntarily. All opinions are my own.

The cover of this book drew me in. As a dark-skinned Black woman, it’s always heartwarming to see yourself represented, and I loved how Indigo embraced her natural hair. I could also really connect with Indigo’s struggles, too. Nearing 30 years old can be daunting. There’s a lot of pressure to fit the mold. Society has this perception that if you are 30 and unmarried without children, you are going about life wrong. However, being married and a mother should not be the standard for what makes you successful. Indigo was an intelligent woman and an entrepreneur. She carved out her own path from her family’s success, and it’s inspiring. Although, I liked this book; I would not say I loved it. Unfortunately, this book was very predictable and there was never a shock factor. It is a comforting read, but it could have been better with a few surprises along the way. If you are looking for a fluffy romance and a strong female lead, I would recommend this read.

DNF at 120 pages. I felt that this book was just not for me. The writing style was very juvenile for an adult romance and although Indigo was a decent character to read about, I did not connect with any of the characters and unfortunately they all fell a little flat for me. The story is not meant to be anything deep so characters I want to read about are a must for me to enjoy a cute romance like this was meant to be, and they, unfortunately just weren’t interesting.

4 stars! Thank you to NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I really enjoyed the characters. It was really nice to see a strong and independent woman like Indigo put herself out there and form new relationships. Nothing felt contrived and it was very refreshing to see her go with the flow.

Indigo has such great character growth and it’s nice to see her actually learn to communicate with her mom and be honest with Tate. You can tell how much she truly cares for her friends and how great of a support system her friends are.

I just wish we didn’t see as much of the other dates and saw more of Indigo and Tate together. I understand Indigo going on the dates was a part of the plot and showing Indigo’s determination to make her family happy but I feel like those chapters could have been shortened. I’m a sucker for second chance romance so I wish there were more cute moments between Indigo and Tate.

My heart hurt reading about what drove a wedge between them ❤️ but Indigo and Tate were strong and mature when they finally were able to have an honest conversation about it.

This was a good read!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for slowing me to read an ARC of The Many Dates of Indigo by Amber Samuel.

This is a light fluffy romance, if not a bit predictable. Indigo feels pressure from everyone around her that she should be getting married as she reaches 30. I liked Indigo as a main character. The message of the book seems to be that a woman needs to be married in order to be happy. This is not a book I would usually read and I’m sure there are others that will enjoy it a great deal.

If you're looking for a light, fluffy read that is sweet from start to finish, this is the book for you. Indigo has alot going for her, but just can't seem to find the right man (You are not alone Indigo). On the cusp of her 30th birthday she meets not 1, but 2 solid men who start to steal her heart. Will she end up with them or fall back into the arms of her very best (and sexy) friend Tate. This book was predictable and so sweet it made my teeth hurt. It was a cute light read and Samuel definitely set up the possibility of a nice little series with Hazel and Em. I gave it a 2.75.

I had high expectations going into this read but it fell flat in the middle for me. I no longer had to anticipate what was going to happen because it was predictable. Not a bad read but a cute romance.

The Many Dates of Indigo was one of the most relatable books I’ve read this year.

Thirty and having to navigate this muddy water of a dating pool? Chile 🥲 Like when we say the dating pool has pee in it, TRUST US.

I loved everything about this book. The pressure to check off “life goals” is real. We want the family but at what cost?

Indigo was a breath of fresh air. She was an overthinker (Hi, it’s me). And managing juggling a career, family relationships, dating and essentially healing from something she’s been avoiding.

The whole book, I knew how it would end but it was interesting to see the steps she took to get there. I was waiting to see how it would play out.

I also enjoyed the banter between her & her siblings. Also relatable because what are siblings for - if not to talk mess about you and with you lovingly!

Thank you Wattpad Books & Netgalley for the ARC copy of such a sweet story.

I enjoyed the honesty and vulnerability of Indigo as she struggled to find her truth and confront her past. There were light hearted moments that made her dating journey fun and others that allowed the reader to relate on a more personal level. The three men Nathan Diego and Tate were all very different and brought out different sides of Indigo’s personality which I enjoyed reading. This is a layered romance that will leave you laughing and tearful, but most importantly allow you to see yourself in the characters.

Indigo Clark is nearing her 30th birthday. She has built a pretty great life for herself and has no problem with her independence and "single-ness." Even though she's happy overall, she would like someone to spend her life with. But, she also knows what she brings to the table and isn't going to settle. She is talented, educated, independent, successful, rooted in who she is and what she's worth, an amazing friend, aunt, daughter, and boss (I forgot to mention she owns a successful shoe store), and incredibly funny. She's in no rush to find a husband just because she's turning 30. Her family, on the other hand, sees things a bit differently, and she feels the pressure from them to settle down. Her father tells her that sometimes what we really need has been right in front of us the whole time. Will that prove true for Indigo?

Do you know those characters you are first introduced to in a book and you're immediately like, "oh em gee, I love this person" and you're now invested in their entire life and rooting for them from beginning to end? Indigo Clark is one of those characters. She's the most lovable character, and I found myself cheering her on from page one. I was invested in her happiness and rooting for her happily ever after the entire story. I could not put it down. This book also had the perfect amount of banter. I laughed and smiled so much!

There were a few formatting errors (2 where I think the title of the book was accidentally pasted into sentences), but nothing that took away from the story (and I assume would be fixed prior to publication:) ). My literal only complaint is that I need more! I need more of Indigo's story with her forever love. But, I won't tell you who it is. You'll have to read the book to find out ;).

Overall, I loved this one and would highly recommend it. I will definitely be purchasing a copy when it's released to add to my personal library.

Thank you to Netgalley and Wattpad Books for an opportunity to read and review this book!

The prologue makes it seem that a wedding is the goal. Chapter one further reaffirms this with talk of diamonds and babies. Not a strong marriage based on love and mutual respect. Not for me. Not something we want to pass along. From what I read, the alignment between the text and the blurb could use some work.

I really would have liked to see Indigo as a strong career driven woman who just hasn’t taken the time to date and gets everything wrong, rather than someone jilted at the altar with baggage.

Thanks to NetGalley and Wattpad for the ARC.

I adored Indigo. She felt fully fleshed out and I enjoyed reading in her point of view. I thought this was a romance novel but it read more like chick lit. I enjoyed the Clark family dynamics. And I really enjoyed the relationship between Indigo, Hazel and Emery. It was a fun read and I got a happily ever after. I would recommend. I look forward to what this writer will do next.
I will publish a full review on My Jamaican Vignettes in November 2022.

This was such a cute, little book! It is definitely on the shorter side, but it made for a fun, easy read which I really enjoyed. I loved the characters, especially Indigo, as Amber Samuel truly wrote her so well. I felt like I was able to connect with Indigo in such a vulnerable way, which I really loved. I always found myself rooting for her as she was just so likable. The only thing I did not like the much was sometimes the dialogue between characters would get a little confusing and I couldn't keep up with who was talking to who. The story, however, was still super cute and was told very well.

Indigo, feeling the pressure of her impending 30th birthday, sets out to find a date that will hopefully become her life partner. In the process we're introduced to her family, friends and 3 love interests.

This was a mixed bag. I liked Indigo as a character, I thought the story flowed well and this was one of the few books that genuinely made me laugh and that's always a huge plus. It was a fun and quick read.

However, there were many issues that stood out to me. The conversations between more than two people got confusing at places, especially with Emery and Hazel, I could barely tell them apart. I also didn't like Tate for more than half of the book. Despite their previous relationship he read as the stereotypical gay best friend for a good while into the book and the scene where Indigo practically had to talk him down from having a tantrum made it hard to cheer for him. Other than that the relationships felt fleshed out and there was enough going on to keep me hooked and reading.

Overall rating would be a 3.5

This was my first time reading anything by Amber D. Samuel, The Many Dates of Indigo is about Indigo Clark, an accomplished independent woman who is about to turn 30. At her sisters 3rd baby shower Indigo starts to feel the pressure of not having a stable relationship. She wants a husband and children of her own. Indigo decides to start dating in order to find her perfect match. She ends up really liking 2 of the people she dates but things don’t won’t out her.
What I Loved
I loved Indigo’s personality. She was funny tough to a point and she loved hard.

I loved Indigo and Tate’s friendship. Though they have a secret from their past. They love and support each other.

What I didn’t like
I did not like the way conversation between multiple characters at same time was written. Without stating who is responding to what I felt like I was reading a never ending sentence.

I did not like that the end of the book seemed so rushed and we didn’t really get to enjoy the outcome of storyline.

I did not like that the previous relationship of Tate and Indigo was talked about enough. At times it seemed as if Indigo was ashamed of him. She reference the boy down the street and that bothered me.

I did not like how the dates played out. It seemed like just filler. Indigo got attached to the 2 guys but nothing you read actually would warrant that. It just seemed a little off.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley and publisher, Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Rating: 3/5 Stars
Publishing: December 6, 2022
Series: Novel
Pages: 352

This is a first time read by Amber D. Samuel, new author to this reader. My anticipation level was high based on the description of this book, however for me it was too lengthy/wordy and could have been a nice novella. “The Many Dates of Indigo” was an easy read that introduced the dating difficulties and experiences of the main character. Although it started off well in the beginning, part the way through it got too predictable and really didn’t have me guessing what was going to happen in the end. The friendships in the story seemed realistic, however the plot focusing on the heroine’s plight with the pressures of dating got a bit boring for me and dragged on way too long. Overall, was it good…I’d say yes but just didn’t have that “wow” I was expecting in this contemporary romance. Modestly giving 3.0 stars on this one.
