A fun fantasy read but felt a little rushed to me. I believe this is a stand alone which is unfortunate because I really did want more from this world. I would have liked a bit more romance but other than that if you’re a fan of the fae and a good fantasy romance this one is for you.

DO IT...

If there's ever a time when you're wondering if you should give a book a chance. THIS MY FRIEND IS YOUR SIGN.

I wasn't 100% sure whether I would have enjoyed this book but after seeing it on my booktok and reading the description I couldn't wait to dive right in. And that's what I did, both feet, whole body dive.

This is the story of two people who are bound to wind up together. Devin and Thea are drawn together, from the very beginning the two of them orbit around each other like the sun around the moon. It's beautiful to watch, this almost tinged with forbidden and turmoil filled love.

Just as the world is changing, just as everything Thea has ever known is being slowly and surely ripped from between her fingers the world shifts. There's turmoil and love and war and friendships. It's not only the makings of a beautiful love story but a beautiful world; one filled with not only wonder and joy but every real thing this world has to offer.

If a love story that tests the bonds of two people and gives you a little bit of hope back is right up your alley. This is definitely the book for you.

I remember reading this on Wattpad years ago and i loved it. To see that it's published makes me happy because it was a great book. I'm a huge fan of Fae. The biggest thing that really gets me immersed is the connection, i love Thea and Devin moments. As their chemistry builds sparks fly.

Theirs two point of views, which i love because i feel like we know more from each party. This did give me A court of thrones a roses vibes.

Unfortunately, this book was not for me. I almost DNF'd it but kept going.

I am not a fan of insta-love stories, they don't seem "real" enough (I know, fiction, right?) to me.
Or maybe I like the building of a relationship?

It was a quick fantasy read and it might be a good book for someone just dipping their toes into the fantasy water.

Thank you to NetGalley and WattPad Books for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Really enjoyed this Fae story. Feel like this had a great adult twist on changelings which I enjoyed and I liked all the characters.
Not often does a standalone really hook me early usually I find they are very slow to start and then feel rushed at the end, whereas this did not feel rushed and I was interested in the story from the very start.
The mystery/twist was done well and the plot was driving forward and was interesting the whole time.
Almost feel like this could have been longer and expanded more and would have liked a bit more romance, the romance was the only part that I felt seemed rush/skipped over a bit and for an adult book feel like could have been more descriptive etc.

Overall really enjoyed 4 stars.

Review:
How could anyone go past this cover and title? Without spoilers this IS what the story is mainly revolved around.
Thea Kanelo is our main girl and she meets art gala owner Devin Grayson (que sexy fae God-but still glamoured at this point). He's gorgeous & mysterious - all the characteristics we love right?! Not long after their first meeting, she starts seeing people with strange....accessories? Horns/wings/different colour skin. What is even going on?? She gets a note from 'C" telling her not to trust anyone and from that point Thea is thrown into a world that was completely unknown to her. Fae/fated mates/four courts/danger/deceit/mystery/love/fae politics

Written in dual POV, the story was easy to read and hard to put down! I was completely hooked from the first chapter and ready to sell my soul for the rest of the book. Everything flowed seemlessly and left me wanting more. Thea is funny and very likeable, she's caring but she's also not someone to mess with. I love her growth throughout the book. but i do think she adapted a little too easily to fast paced changed to and around her. Devin is a puppy dog when it comes to Thea, he's charming and sweet and I loved their banter/chemistry and relationship growth.

Blackburry's writing has so much potential, I love the 'normal' and casual way Thea and Candice would interact, even Thea and Alan. The story was realty fast paced and there SO MUCH mystery! I LOVED the battle, it was really descriptive and a great way to end the story as most of the book is the lead up for the big twist.
I really do think this could have been a duology, I was left wanting more world building though as it was hard to picture at times. I would've been happy for the relationship between Thea and Devin to have dragged a little longer also as it felts slightly rushed at times.

There were some amazing characters: Caroline, mysterious fae who we don't even know whether to trust or not for most of the book. Heather - LOVE LOVE Heather! Thea's most loyal friend. Alan - 'floor sign' IYKYK
Devin - could do no wrong in my eyes

Overall, I really enjoyed it and wouldn't hesitate to buy another of Blackburry's books. this is her debut and i am so excited to see what she will release next!

This just wasn’t it for me. The beginning dragged a bit and I struggled to get interested. Considered DNFing but didn’t because I had hope. This definitely read more like a YA, which is ok, but when branded as an adult book isn’t. There is action and romance, but the smut is pretty much nonexistent. I also felt the chemistry was lacking between the characters.

This is a low fantasy, new adult, contemporary romance book complete with fated mates and seasonal fairy courts. There’s no major cliff hangers but it does look to be setting up for a series.

Disclaimer: I originally was going to give this a 2⭐️ rating but decided on pushing it to 3. I honestly think that if I had read this at a different time I may have liked it more. I’m currently in the middle of The Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson and read this while I’m waiting for book 2 in the mail. With that said, I think what I disliked in this novel ended up being exaggerated.

I found the world building to be lacking. As a big fantasy reader, I’m fairly familiar with Fae folklore but I love reading different takes on the courts, powers and fated mates. But there was no explanation of how the powers were distributed through the court system, I was left with a lot of questions.

Also, a big pet peeve I had was the whole mystery aspect. Why go through the trouble to set up a character on a quest or mystery solving adventure just to give them the answer? Again, maybe if I wasn’t in the middle of reading an epic high fantasy series with insane character backstories and development this wouldn’t have bothered me as much and I would’ve just taken this book as a quick pallet cleanser read.

I do like that this was told in multiple POV’s and I’m a sucker for all things fantasy romance. This would probably be a good book to someone just dipping their toes into the fantasy book scene, but it wouldn’t get you hooked on the fantasy genre.

This new spin on The Fae on the The Fae started out amazing, so so promising. The Fae are divided into four courts, this was rather intriguing to me, they have their annual changeling, that is decided upon between the Lords or Ladies of each court! I adore Thea, and I’m so glad that we were gradually introduced to the Fae world and her change, and it wasn’t something that occurred from the start in Chapter 1; the author did an exceptional job with this, as it made it that much more suspenseful! The chemistry between Devin and Thea was strong, I knew from there first encounter we were going to have a “fated mates” situation . The tension and chemistry between the two was delightful! I did enjoy the other characters in the book as well. Too much was going on in the last half of the book, but with that being said I still enjoyed this enough to definitely want to read book 2, to see Thea more adapted to the Fae life an her magic!

I found this to pretty entertaining and flew through the story. There is some heat but not too spicy for those that may not be able to handle too much fire. The plot kept the story flowing and me moving through the pages to find out what happens with all the twists.

Beautiful and enchanting, Dirty Lying Faeries was reminiscent of the childhood folklore and tales of magic that stole my heart once upon a time, and again once more. With its ties of fate, entangled warfare, crafty deception, and the bonds of love woven intimately within this tale, I was enamoured by every thread!

Fast paced and founded in well-orchestrated mysteries, I was engaged by the battles waged between the courts and, paired with the buried stories unveiled by Thea and the tension captured by the villain origin story, Sabrina Blackburry delved deep into a rich history and emotion that drew me deep into this world and its characters.

Thea is strong willed and inquisitive, and I enjoyed following her transition into the world of Fae and all their dirty little secrets. And Devin! There was something captivating and almost hypnotising about his presence - as evidenced by my secret smiles and flutters as I read, and there was no denying I was under his spell in those moments when he stole the show. The romance between them, while enjoyable, was a bit of a letdown for me personally and I felt it could have been stronger in its development, especially in regards to the tension of our fated loves and the speed at which it was embraced. This, however, didn’t deter from the overall enjoyment of this read and it is safe to say that I am thoroughly hooked by Blackburry’s new world and I cannot wait for what magic will enchant it next!

For a balance of romance and fantasy, fresh perspectives and the tried and true, I cannot recommend this stunning debut enough. And that cover! Who could say no to a cover that gorgeous?!

Thank you to @WbyWattpadBooks and @Netgalley for the advanced copy of this read. 4.5⭐️

Dirty Lying Faeries is a contemporary fantasy romance set in the world of the fae. If I were to describe the plot of this book, I would say it was a cross between The Mortal Instruments and A Court of Thorns and Roses. The themes within this book, courts named after seasons, fated mates, changelings etc are not very unique and have been done and done better before. Overall, I thought this book lacked the originality that would really make it stand out.
The romance was fine, but there wasn't lots of build up, if you're a fan of insta-love then this is for you. Even so, I didn't feel the chemistry. The world building was poor, I was left with lots of questions at the end.
The final battle scene was the only thing I enjoyed in this book, the beginning is very slow paced but definitely picks up towards the end of the book.
For me, this book did not hit my expectations. This book is good for a quick fantasy read if you're just getting into the genre. If you're an established fantasy lover and looking for something a bit deeper and more original, this is not for you.

After attending a gala with her best friend, Thea starts seeing things-- people with strangely colored skin, people wearing masks for no reason, ominous things outside her apartment building... it's enough to freak her out. And then she gets a mysterious note on her windshield telling her not to trust anyone. When she finally finds out what's going on, things only get stranger: it turns out she's been chosen by the fae to become one of them. As soon as her change finishes, she discovers she's bonded to Devin, the lord of the winter court.
But the mysterious notes from C keep coming, and Thea sets out to uncover the secret at the heart of the fae world.

I loved how this book approached the fae and changelings. Having humans be changed as adults rather than swapped as children was an interesting concept, and it set in motion a plot that I really loved.
At times, it did feel like another quick editing pass would have been beneficial-- there were a few contradictions in the plot, and places where more explanation would have been helpful (for example, at one point someone places their hand on Thea's, and we don't find out until a few paragraphs later that they're using water magic when they do so). It also felt like, with the exception of the main conflict, all the issues got smoothed over too quickly.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and would absolutely read more by this author.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and all of the twists and turns it had. I definitely did not predict many of the plot twists. I do wish that the romance had been drawn out more, it felt like it went from 0 to 100 really quick and there could have been more tension drawn out. However, the court politics were interesting and I enjoyed most of the characters. If you like fae stories then you will likely enjoy this one too.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Dirty Lying Faeries was an entertaining engrossing fantasy novel that had me captivated from start to finish. This story takes us on a journey with Thea as she is put in the path of Devin the Fae Lord of The Winter Court and is accidentally turned from a human to a fae changeling. From the moment he was introduced I loved Devin and the chemistry between him and Thea was undeniable. I loved seeing the progression of their relationship throughout the novel but I really wished it was a little more developed.

The story gave us mystery, suspense, action, romance, friendship, secrets, betrayal, revenge and court politics and I will admit I loved every moment of it. There were fascinating supporting characters who added to much to the story and provided great support and balance to the main characters. There were unexpected twists and turns which had me at the edge of my seat anxiously turning the pages. This was a different spin on the Fae and I thought the author did a great job with world building. It was the first book in the series and I can't wait to see how it all develops. This was a fast paced, well-written read and I would highly recommend it to lovers of fantasy romance.

A huge thank you to netgalley and the publisher for giving me an e-arc of Dirty Lying Faeries in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

So guys, I DNF'D this at 40%. While this book had so much potentially it just didn't hold my attention as much as I had hoped it would. I think the author has done an incredible job of creating a new way to look at faeries. The whole changeling process was fascinating.

I really enjoyed the authors writing style and their descriptions really were quiet beautifully written.

I think I've just gone past the stage where I can enjoy a book with no smut I am not going to lie to you guys. Smut has consumed me...

I do think a lot of people will love this book and give it much needed love. I look forward to seeing this author grow in the future into a well known author.

Fairys and cute boys are my favourite type of book and this one did not disapoint! I read it in a matter of hours and loved every second of it.

Ok this was soooo much better then anticipated, I was hoping for a good read but what I got was this fantastic fantasy read. There was a different spin on the fae and I love when authors go off the beaten path. The chemistry is hot and fun to read. I look forward to more from this author.

This book provided me with a couple hours of fae and fluff and I loved it. In true Wattpad fashion, Dirty Lying Faeries delivered a book that while it grabbed your attention for the entire time, it needs some slight formatting. Now we're not going to talk about the formatting because that has nothing to do with the actual story.

I was obsessed with Devin and Thea and how their story played out. Thea was a bad-ass and I truly enjoyed seeing her transform from a human into a fae who's Lady of the Winter Court. This book had me laughing, crying, hurt, and falling in love. I truly enjoyed it.

TW: Miscarriage, kidnapping, fight scenes
