Dirty Lying Faeries is about Thea, who falls into the world of Fae by accident, and after learning all about this secret world, she starts getting random notes left for her that lead her on a path to save her new life and change the course of history.

I enjoyed how the Fae were done in this story; there were four courts: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. This story also had changelings; the Fae would seek out humans with little to no ties to family/friends and introduce the Fae to them secretly and give them faerie food to jumpstart the change before the season solstice. The true Fae would use the changelings to try and help populate the low birth rate of the Fae. Devin, Lord of Winter, meets Thea at his art gallery and starts the change process, but she isn't the correct changeling pick! Devin cannot back out and goes along with it, and once Thea makes the change, and it is up to her to choose which court she belongs in, whichever one is pulling her in, you find out that she and Devin are fated mates. I was super into that idea until it felt like there was a stop to the chemistry build. It went to a connection to fated mates, and then it felt like they were a married couple that had been together for 50+ years. I would have loved to see a relationship truly built between them in the story. At 60% in, the story flies! So much is going on, and it was exciting. Still, even with that said, I would have preferred to have at least a duology, so you could have had the first story about Devin and Thea learning to be mates and more time on Thea learning more about the Fae in general, as well as her new powers. The second book could have dived into the plot twist from the Rotting one, who wanted to create a war between the Changelings and the True Fae.

Overall the story was good, and I would recommend it! Thank you, NetGalley and Wattpad Books, for providing an eARC of Dirty Lying Faeries. This review is being left voluntarily, and all opinions are my own.

First, I want to say I had high hopes for this story based on the cover and the premise. However, the formatting of the ARC made it incredibly difficult to enjoy and sometimes even understand what was happening. The book's title would appear in random sentences and even once the author's name was placed in the middle of dialogue. The story itself was fine but could have benefited by being two books. I'm not sure if the author plans to make this a series about all the mates but for mates to be a rare thing and then suddenly everyone is mated felt rushed. We never found out what happened between two of the side characters and suddenly they are together, mated, and happy in the end. The relationship between the FMC and the MMC was fine but a little too insta-love for my taste. I appreciated that the story was told in a dual perspective. In the end, I think it is a fine first draft but could be expanded on and worked out to be a way better story than what the ARC presents.

A fun premise with lots of promise, it is evident that Blackbury is a beautiful writer. Her characters are fully and sometimes wildly imagined, the world they move within is vast and detailed, but the overall text could benefit from a further round of edits to hasten the plot and trim down some of the bloat.

With some solid and targeted marketing this book has the bones to perform very well within its demographic, but might not be able to shine in the broader paranormal romance/urban fantasy stage (which is truly a detriment to a beautifully written text)..

Really interesting story and a new fun twist on the fae. I really enjoyed Thea’s character. This book was simply a fun refreshing Romantasy from a talented new author. I had a lot of hope for some great world building for this story, but that was a bit lackluster. I would have also loved a bit more character development between Thea and Devin. Or really, between any characters. It just felt a little rushed at times. Absolutely a solid 3.5 star book, but it just needs a little more oomph.

Wow what a great story! Changlings and faieries come together in Dirty Lying Faeries to make up the four courts of faeriedom in Seattle, Washington. Thea is on of the newest changeling to join the Winter Court and she also happens to be the mate of Devin, ruler of the Winter Court. The two hit it off immediately, leading to a steamy, whirlwind romance only to be interrupted by deception and unrest in the courts. Now Thea not only has to adjust to life as a fae, but she must decifer friend from foe, who to trust, and what to do with her newfound abilities. Dirty Lying Faeries was an intriguing read for any fan of fantasy and I look forward to the next book in the series!

Thea was inadvertently exposed to the fae world around her and her life forever changed. The story pulled me in from the start and I loved seeing the changes in Thea and those around her.

I absolutely loved this book and world of fae. I really hope to see more from these characters!
Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad for the opportunity to read this ARC

This book was truly hard to put down. With a title like "Dirty Lying Faeries" I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised by the fun mix of mystery, romance, and paranormal folks.

Thea was a normal human person who may have been slightly more reserved than most, but she balanced by being BFFs with a true extrovert. At a party that said extrovert dragged her to, her world changes in a truly fantastical way. She starts seeing things that can't possibly be real and it centers around the mysterious art studio owner who hosted the party. Devin, said owner, is obviously more than he appears to be, managing one of the four fae courts. It isn't until Thea pushes the issue that all is revealed and then things get really really weird.

Turns out that in this hidden world there is also a lot of lies, secrets, and violence. It somehow ends up on Thea's shoulders to unravel this mystery, all while coming to grips with her new life, her new boyfriend, and some courtly ramifications of both. This story was really fun, unique, and engaging. I was pleasantly surprised that there will be more in this world and will keep an eye out for future books.

I loved it! I loved the characters, the story was original, and I loved every bit of it. I was sucked in immediately, and didn't want to put it down. I don't want to spoil anything, it's definitely worth the read.

A fun and magical romp into the world of faeries! Join Thea as she unwittingly becomes entangled in the political machinations of the Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter courts. When a mistaken identity puts her in the pointed gaze of fae rulers, she must learn as much about the hidden world and the secrets that threaten her very existence!

The relatable characters and touch of fantasy make this a great escape from the world of mundane things and offers a glimpse into something both beautiful and dangerous - an exciting place to visit, but maybe not dwell! I hope this isn't the only foray into this incredible world that author Sabrina Blackburry offers us readers!

When I read the description I didn’t hesitate to request this book as it sounded right up my street!

When Thea Kanelos's best friend drags her to an art gala (that's definitely not her thing), she doesn't expect a chance encounter with Devin Grayson to change her life forever. The handsome stranger isn't just anyone--he's a powerful fae, charged with bringing Thea into his world.

I was drawn into the fantasy world quickly and enjoyed sharing Thea’s journey with her throughout. I liked the development of the relationship between Thea and Devin and there was enough mystery to keep me gripped throughout.

My only criticism is that I think the book could have been longer so that some elements of the interpersonal relationships and the conflict could have been discussed in more detail.

Outstanding🤩

This author is new to me and when I read the blurb and saw the amazing cover…yes I know, don’t judge a book by its cover..but I always do - I was intrigued❣️Knowing this book is releasing soon, I thought I’ll start and if it doesn’t capture my attention, I have a week or more to finish it🤔

Well, suffice to say I couldn’t put this book down. I had to go to lunch with my parents and I DID NOT WANT to put it down to go to leave☺️ I was enthralled and absolutely captivated by this world and especially Thea and Devin. I loved the mystery behind this world and the magic and I’m absolutely certain I’ve found another favourite paranormal author in Sabrina😍 I now eagerly await the next book and I hope we revisit with some of these characters again but if not, that’s okay too.

I received an advanced copy via Netgalley and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

This was fun take on the fae and the different courts.

Thea goes to a party with a friend one evening that sets into motion her being changed into a faery. She finds out she wasn’t originally intended to be the one changed, but not she has new powers and a strong bond with one of the courts. Soon she always finds out there is something going on that could ruin the future of the courts and the ones she cares about could end up dead.

I believe this is the author’s first book and it’s a fun one. I am interested to see how her writing develops and what other stories she has to share with us!

Dirty Lying Fairies was such a cute, fun read! There is some drama, but it’s primarily a sweet, light fantasy romance with (obviously) fairies. I’ve read A LOT of fantasy this year, so this book has a lot of similar elements, but I thought the overall plot was pretty unique. Definitely kept me reading! My only gripes were some continuity errors and other editing issues that will hopefully get worked out before publication.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own.

Absolutely loved from start to finish! This was a good paced book with great characters and development. Such a fun ride and honestly, probably a new favorite.

I was a little bit reluctant to start this book. I really wasn’t sure I was going to like it, and I eventually realized it was the title. I sat down and read it, and it was nothing like I thought it was. This is a well-written book of secrets, adventure, and romance which is told with a cast full of great characters. I thought it was a book about how fairies were bad and irredeemable. Nope. Just like humans, there are some good and some bad. Thea and Devin were a great couple, and there are some steamy scenes. This isn’t just about romance, though, but a mystery, too. A great urban fantasy/romance, this book kept my interest throughout the whole thing, and I’m eager to read the next one in the series. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I really wanted to love this book based on the synopsis. I love books about fae. The beginning was promising. And then the story just got so boring to me. I hate to say it but I just ultimately DNF this one. I didn’t love the story or the characters.

3.5 Stars (round up to 4)
1 Spicy Pepper (spotty, fade to black)

I've always had a love for all things fae and that love has only deepened with time, so when this popped up with fairies taking place in a contemporary setting I was all over it!

This particular story focuses Thea (a human) and Devin (a fairy lord) and is told from dual-POVs. It follows her transition into the world of the fae and sends her down a path that affects no only herself, but the local fairy community as a whole.

This was a fun read! The idea of humans transitioning into a fairy world that takes place in a contemporary setting was entertaining. I thought the variety of characters were fun to read about and the lore that the author had built around the fae was unique. Despite the few "Mehs" below, this was an enjoyable book! If you're here for a unique story with some good sinister undertones that just happen to involve fairies - give it a whirl!

Yays:
- Fairy politics is always fun!
- Bonded mates, especially unexpected bonded mates are great
- Unique premise about the fae and human transition situation
- Genuine female friendships

Mehs:
- The romance was a bit spotty (I'm all down for bonded mates); but it almost felt like it was thrown in just to appease the masses.
- Sometimes details were really in depth and other times they were glossed over.
- Title only SORTA made sense for the book, but I was expecting more in the lines of dirty and lying
- Not giving information to make things seem a mystery.

I was provided an ARC of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I found this story absolutely charming. I will admit I am a sucker for a fae romance and understand that there is a lot available in this market and yet I felt that the world building in Dirty Lying Fairies was rather unique while staying very traditional. Thea was a lovely protagonist smart, capable, intelligent, tenacious, but most of all kind, which made traversing the story with her quite pleasant. If you are looking for a dark/ edgy Fae romance this isn't that book but if you are looking for a book that somehow simultaneously feels like a warm hug and a thrilling adventure this is for you.

I really enjoyed reading the book, I did notice some minor formatting issues (which is a very common thing in ARCS and I am sure will be addressed by publish date), but just in case, I thought I should make mention.

Ohmy Enjoyed Reading this one. I’m always in for a fae story and I wanted to read this one when I saw it. sometimes I thought it not what I really liked to read but i enjoyed it overall.

3 stars.

Dirty Lying Faeries follows Thea as she meets a mysterious and handsome gallery owner, who just so happens to be a powerful fae tasked with bringing her into his world.

This was a quick, enjoyable read.

The world building was good. The 4 courts reminded me a little bit of ACOTAR. The changelings of this book were unique. The magic system was good as well.

I liked the dual POVs of Thea and Devin. Both POVs were enjoyable with Thea figuring out her new life and Devin being a protective fae male.

It felt a little rushed. This probably could have been separated into a duology because there was a lot of telling instead of showing, and it was just overall hasty. Also the chemistry between Thea and Devin felt a little inadequate. There was potential for more... more spice, more chemistry, more development, but it was just lacking.

Thank you to Wattpad books, Netgalley, and the author for an eARC of this book. All thoughts are my own.
