This read much better than I expected. I read fanfiction pretty often but this definitely felt like it had been reviewed and edited by professionals. I would say it is a bit slow though, the concept isn't terribly new or innovative. On that note, I did like the fun twists of the courts and the characters (specifically the characteristics of the different courts). I think it could have been smaller or just cut out some of the "transformation" time since it felt stagnant and be a much stronger read.

I liked this book, I’m always a sucker for any story containing the Fae and this one was unique and fun! I think it could’ve used a little more refining dialogue wise. At times I found myself skipping over some sentences every now and then because it just didn’t hold my interest. I think the romance between Thea and Devin was great. If you love modern Fae stories I recommend this one.

This was such a great unique twist on faeries. I devoured it in 2 days and really hope to see more books set in this world. I love all the characters and felt that the story line was set to a good pace that keeps the reader hooked from the beginning.

He's a 10 but he believes in faeries.

So this was a time. I definitely enjoyed it, but thought that it dragged at some points. I appreciate that there was no third act breakup, and that there were other plot points to add to the big finale, but they never really doubted the relationship once they got together. It's refreshing to see that her mate was just overall a decent dude and despite being a big baddie, he really was just hyper focused on her, and his people.

One thing I will say though, that as smart as Thea is, she has approximate 2 braincells when it comes to dealing with fae folks. She spent most of her research being told that fae are mean and evil people and she just trusted a lot of those at face value, and although I liked that aspect (you know, usually people are nice until they give you a reason that they aren't), but I guess I'm jaded from reading other darker romances because a lot fo those situations could have gone left at any time.

Otherwise it was a decent cute time.

Admittedly read this book because of the title.

The concept of this book is really cool. It focuses on changelings in the faerie world. I did like this book however, there is a lot going on and it never felt completely developed. It left a little disconnect where my brain kind of filled in the holes.

I think with like an extra 100 or so pages with just giving the audience more of a connection with the characters and the world would have gone a long way.

If there is another book in the series I would read it.

loved the plot of 'dirty lying faeries' and can confirm that i'm in love with devin, some points felt as though it was directly from wattpad, but i oddly loved that about it. would 100% read again though.

I truly enjoyed this fresh take on Fae Romance in modern times. I got to read the first version of this book when it was on Wattpad a while ago and it was great so I am very happy I was able to receive an ARC through NetGalley to read the published version. Overall, it was a great read, with fun characters that have great personalities and storylines. I love how this is a more modern take on the Fae and how the author finds a way to explain how the Fae are living and interacting with humans on modern times. I also really love the cover!

Thea is an art loving woman who is accidentally introduced to the Fae world with consequences that affect both her and the Fae around her. She is smart, strong-willed and determined to figure out what is happening with the Fae world she's been thrown into. Devin is a handsome gallery owner that catches Thea's eye, if only she'd known that meeting him would change her life forever. The chemistry between the two characters is fun, but the romance element was pretty slow paced and could be built out more- maybe in future books we will get more.

Overall, the story did seem to be a bit slow paced up to the first 100 pages or so. However the conclusion was great with a lot of action. I think the author could have began to introduce some of those faster paced elements earlier on in the book to help with the pacing of the storyline. I also think we could have gotten a little more background on the world the characters live in.

In all, I think this is a good book with really great potential for future books in the series. I am excited to see where the characters go from here and to learn more about the world they live in. I think this a super easy read for young adults and teens.

Thank you to Wattpad Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGallery and Ms. Blackburry for giving me the opportunity to review this book.
I love fantasy novels and have read quite a few,so I hold my fantasy novels to high standards. I wasn't sure how this book would turn out because I was not familiar with Ms.Blackburry's work. Well, there was no need to worry. The book ensnared me from the start. Romance, adventure, mystery and a hint of fantasy;) Definitely fans of Holly Black, Melissa Marr and Julie Kagawa would enjoy this book.

This was a fresh spin on a familiar concept. I loved the whole idea of adult changelings. I enjoyed the story as a whole but I do think with a little more development on each front (Romance and Fantasy) it could have really been a stunner. It was enough to build an entertaining tale but fell short of that wow factor. I liked the main characters fine enough but they were probably more on the bland side depth wise. I liked that Thea was very collected and not a total mess which I feel is common in this type of story but I would have liked a little more complexity to her. With Devin I liked that he wasn't a total alpha jerkface but I would have expected a little less puppy dog vibes from the king of a Fae court. Fated mates is not an unfamiliar trope and I'm not opposed to it at all, but there was really zero tension or build up here and that made it hard to truly get invested about the outcome.

The world building was pretty well done. I enjoyed that element best but in the end it did all feel a little rushed and you're left with a fair amount of questions. It felt a little heavier on the telling rather than the showing too which is a bit disappointing. The plot was good too, I like a good mystery unraveling and I rather enjoyed the battle at the end. I definitely got the feeling this could be the beginning of a series and if that's the case I would like to see how things develop as it goes.

Dirty Lying Faeries, by Sabrina Blackburry, is a cute little story about a typical woman’s transformation and induction into the faerie world. It’s part romance/part fantasy, and I liked it quite a bit! Heroine was likable, world building was believable and immersive, and hero was dreamy.
I’d recommend to anyone who loves lots of creature with their romantic feature.
4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks to the author and NetGalley for the Review Copy. All opinions are my own.

“You’d die a book hoarder in a dark basement apartment surrounded by antiques and tears.”

Thea is our strong willed, tea drinking, history loving, bookworm…and she’s not thrilled about checking out the art gala with her bestie Candace. What she IS thrilled about, is meeting Devin while she’s there. He’s mysterious, he’s handsome, and the idea of working with him on a historical gallery exhibit is swoon-y.

Devin - Lord of Winter - and king of Ian Somerhalder vibes - is intrigued by Thea and even more so at the prospect of her being the chosen changeling. Not to mention, initiating the changeling process.

It’s only later realized that Thea may not have been the changeling choice after all. At this point, her change has already started and she’s beginning to see past the glamour that once kept the Fae world hidden in plain site.

We get to see Thea find her powers, fight a battle, and accept her found Fae family. And did I mention fated mates?!

I liked the romantic element between the two main characters. I especially love it when the mmc falls first and the fmc is resistant to it, even if only slightly. Thea does not hop on the Devin train immediately - I cheered for her holding her ground… And when she gave into it.

This is a fast paced, low fantasy read - it’s the beginning of a series but there’s no cliffhanger so I am very curious where the next book will start and what we’ll see!

Dirty Lying Faeries was an interesting read. The concept was very creative. I enjoyed the characters. The story however, was hard to follow at times. I found myself needing to go back and reread on many occasions to clarify what was happening. There was romance in the story, but not over the top which would be good for readers that do not like graphic sex.

When Thea attends an art gala with her best friend, she meets a mysterious and handsome (of course 🙄) stranger who will change her life forever. It turns out that he is a powerful Fae who is also charged with bringing her into his world. But can Devin be trusted? Thea has always believed herself to be human until she begins to see creatures and it gets harder and harder to deny that she might just have a little bit of magic herself. As the winter solstice approaches, she will begin a transformation, one that will play a pivotal role in saving both the human and the Fae world from a terrible fate.
.
I really wanted to love this book. I was hoping for a fun read with some magic, entertainment and steam. I wanted solid character development, a bit of world building and I wanted to feel a connection between Devin and Thea. I wanted a lot more of everything. At times I felt it read like a YA (although marketed as adult) book, the steam was pretty non existent and they had like no chemistry. After one sex scene they acted like an old married couple 🤦‍♀️. Yes I know, it’s not about the sexy time but seriously? Can I get some Rhys and Feyre vibes here? That’s the kind of chemistry I wanted. I realize that this was a debut and I’m hoping that things will only get better from here because I can see what the author wanted to portray but it just missed the mark, for me anyways. Will I try her again in the future? Perhaps. 2.5⭐️

Dirty Lying Faeries reminded me of Crescent City, A Court of Thorns and Roses, and Twilight in 1 book!

I actually really enjoyed it. I LOVED the beginning - the MC Thea gets dumped into the fae world when she turns into one herself. I did find myself losing interest somewhat once the main romance was resolved halfway through, but the ending had a lot of action! I liked both of the MC's and enjoyed the dual POV.

For fans of: fated mates, urban fantasy, court politics, changelings + faeries, some magic, steamyish.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

I am not even going to lie…it was the title that made me read this. (Yes, I am that person. No, I do not apologize.)

I’m happy to report that the book is as much fun as the title implies. This a fabulous read of fae, humans, betrayal, lust, magic and danger! What more does a reader need?

The characters were fabulously fun, the romance was scorching, and the plot was full of intrigue.

I am notorious among my reader friends for my dislike (okay, hate) of fairies lol. And I simply loved this.

Looking forward to another book!

I was fortunate enough to receive this e-ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This first captured my eye when I was on the hunt for some ARC’s on NetGalley and once I read the blurb I was sold and needed to read it asap!!

This is told in dual POV’s, we have Thea our FMC and Devin our MMC.

Thea studied historical art and hasn’t had an opportunity to pursue this as a career and until gets invited to an art gallery gala by her friend Candace. Here she meets the devilishly charming Devin who is the owner and takes her on a private tour of a specific artists work.

After the events of this night she starts seeing strange things and puts it down to her going crazy and hallucinating it all until she uncovers the truth and finds out she’s turning into a fae.

Devin is the Lord of the Winter Court and accidentally gave Thea the kiss that started her transition when in fact it should have been her friend Candace as she was the chosen changeling.

The moment Thea and Devin met they knew they had a special connection. And when Thea finds out it was Devin who changed her she wasn’t happy but ends up forgiving him because of their connection.

She uncovers lots of secrets about the fae and why they’re creating changlings’s. Thea and her trusted circle of friends work together to uncover the mystery’s and who the person is behind it all.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this it only took me 2 days to finish 😊

- one bed trope
- fated mates
- insta-love
- unique magic system
- set in modern day world

I was so excited to read this book. I loved the title and the cover. And then I saw it was from Wattpad Books 🥺❤️

The story follows Thea, a young woman that after attending to a party at an art gallery, starts seeing things that she wasn't supposed to.... Eyes and skin with strange colours, wings, horns, strange cloths... At the beginning she thinks there's a comic con happening in town, but when she starts seeing them everywhere, she's forced to face what's happening to her. She's changing. And the Lord of Winter started it.

With the Winter's Solestice a few days ahead, Daven is responsible to start the process with the new changeling. But when two humans attend to his party, he kisses the wrong human.

The Fae are devided in 4 Courts located around a magical Gate. There's a changeling once a year. And there are the wild fae... The ones that refused to choose a Court.

There's a rumour of a war and The Rotting One. Someone ready to destroy all of them.

Really liked the plot, the details and the history around the Courts and the Changelings. Liked the twists and the story around The Rotting One.

However, I was expecting more development.
The relationship between the MCs was lacking something. It happened so quickly that I barely felt the tension between them.

There was a lot of "tell" instead of "show".

Some scenes should have been more developed, it would help to get us closer to the characters.
Other scenes had to much information.

It gets better at 52%.
The last 20% are really good!

Loved Daven's povs.

This is the first book of a series so I'm curious to see how she's going to develop the story as I can't see/think about a plot for a second book. Hope to see some character development on the next.

In general it was a good reading, original plot. Would recommend to fans of Faeries with a touch of mistery that want an easy reading.

If you don't mind about that something missing, then it's perfect.

3 Stars!

This book is a fae fantasy romance that is about a girl who is noticed by a fae court leader and her world is flipped upside down. This book had tremendous potential to me because I love fae romance books; however, this story fell short. It started off great and I liked how the characters were introduced, but once I hit the 60% mark it felt like the story was being rushed. I also wanted more romance and details about fae powers.

I received this book as an ARC and gave my opinion voluntarily.

“Be careful making deals with a fae, darling. I’ll be holding you to it”
“Should I take that as a challenge? I happen to have a hobby of convincing lovely historians to believe in fairy tales”
Fans of Sarah J Mass and A Court of Thorns and Roses, hear me out … READ THIS BOOK NOW !!
A urban fantasy with four fae courts (each season), with a tall, dark and snowy love interest, with mating bond, forced proximity, ONE BED trope with pillow wall, and an undeniable attraction that gets progressively hard to hide … this book was amazing !!!
I couldn’t put it down !!
I loved the world building, the magic, the romance, the spice (enough but not too much), the characters’ dynamics and even the concept of fae and changeling … something I don’t think I’ve read before!!
The fact that the book is a standalone, I think it’s a great idea.
But I have to say that I would love to read more books about some side characters that honestly caught my heart!!!
And the romance !!!!!! So good !!! Considering it all started with a mistake and an art gallery … do we believe in fate ???
I had great fun reading this book and I’m so grateful I even had the chance to experience it !!!
“Did you sleep well, bond mate?”
“I’m all yours to look at, you know”
“You need to let me go, darling, before we start something I intend to finish”
“For you, I’d do a lot of things that would shock the courts”

Thank you to Net Galley and Wattpad Books for an eARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

A fun read! There were a few technical issues, such as paragraph formatting and a few grammatical errors, but for me it did not take away from the story. I enjoyed the idea of the Fae courts and the changeling process. There was some good action near the end and all the different elemental powers that came into play were fun to read about.

I always enjoy a 'he fell first' senario and I appreciated that Thea didn't just start fawning over him the moment the bond fell in place. The fact that she took some time to process made me like this book even more. I do wish there was more development between Thea and Devin, more romance and more intimacy.

Overall, a quick but enjoyable read!
