Oh my! I absolutely loved this book! I would definitely recommend this to everyone. I love the characters in the book, and how the family came together for each other when tragedy struck. The brothers and sisters were there for each other. I know this isn’t real, but it makes you wish how family’s come together when tragedy strikes and stay together. This book was a great read and I would definitely recommend.

This was an extraordinary book about how families come together and sometimes even fall apart during tragic events. The story takes a look at siblings and how they need to each do their part in helping themselves and the others when their parents are suddenly killed in a tragic accident. People will be able to relate to the dynamics that happen between them and the paths they each choose. This was an easy read yet at the same time very deep and meaningful. Will be recommending this to others this winter.

THE WHITTIERS
BY: DANIELLE STEEL

I don't want to sound like a broken record, but I really needed a light, beach read after reading "Egypt's Golden Couple," written by two archaeologists that was not fun. The Publisher contacted me and I was thinking whether or not I would have to keep looking up things. I did and it was not fun and for the average person--most of it. It was written by a husband and wife who were Egyptologists' and I found their discoveries interesting and exciting, but that was in the Epilogue. I found the last section about King Tutankhamun's eight year rule interesting because I knew his discovery was in November of 1922, by a British archaeologist named Howard Carter and some Egyptians' who sadly are not remembered. The parts about King Tut's father were not for someone who didn't have an education in archaeology. I read it over and over and although another reviewer said you didn't need to know about the Father of King Tutankhamun--I disagree! You need to know that the book was written in a scholarly fashion and it made me so happy to read this after that.

Random House Publishing Group has been so good to me. This book was only available to wish for and I was so grateful that they granted my wish to read this at the perfect time. This was a quick and light read--one I took to the beach. It is a heartfelt book about a family who supports one another who lose their parents in a tragic skiing accident. Their parents were married for forty-three years and they were role models to their six children. Lyle is the oldest and he is the one that receives the news about his parents deaths. He has to break the news to his siblings. He has two young children under ten and his wife Amanda doesn't like his family.

I don't know how Danielle Steel manages to imagine so many stories, but I found this one touching. It is a quick and light respite from some heavier topics. I read this very quickly and it came at the right time for me. The six children are nice people and their lives are interesting. There is divorce for one of them. There are two twins Caroline and Charlie who are clothing designers. Caroline helps her twenty-one year old sister Annabelle go through a life changing event. Charlie is also very nurturing to their twenty-eight year old brother named Benjie, who I loved. Benjie is very sweet. Lyle's wife Amanda calls his family the Addam's family and thinks that Benjie should be sent away. Benjie is autistic and he is very sweet. He has worked in an animal shelter for five years and he rescues two dogs.

This was just so heartwarming. If you are in the mood for some light and an easy read then you might consider picking this one up. It is moving and I love the way the six brothers and sisters all supported one another. They move home in a twenty-five square foot mansion while they decide what to do with the house. They know that they have to sell it and divide it up between all six of them eventually. For right now while they are helping the two youngest siblings they all move back in except the second to the oldest sister named Gloria who never married. Only Lyle has gotten married and his two children stay there, also. Just a feel good book to get lost in or escape into this family's lives while they are figuring it all out. I enjoyed this and would recommend it to those who want a break from the heavier books.

Danielle Steel explores what is means to be a family in her latest book The Whittiers. The six children are close but become even closer after the sudden death of their parents. The family mansion becomes a safe and comforting environment for the grown children. As you read the story you will fall in love with each and everyone of the characters, they are so true to life.
This is a heartwarming story loss, love, and the true meaning of family.
Thank you NetGallery and Random House Publishing for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

It’s been awhile since I’ve read a Danielle Steel book. I’ve been reading a lot of thriller type books lately and wanted something different. Her fans will surely like this upcoming installment from her. In her style, she took each of the characters through emotional development and focused on the bonds of family.

Well this one surprised me…I wasn’t sure I would like it as the description didn’t sound that interesting to me. Boy was I wrong…it kept me glued to my kindle. I loved the interactions between the characters and the story itself kept my attention. I will say there is a sub-plot about the youngest brother that felt kind of unnecessary but all in all I’d give this one 4 stars!!

This is a story about a family and how the different members interact with each other and the places they live and work. It is an all encompassing story with lots of diversity. It is set in New York, but could really be set anywhere. It was a great read!

The Whittiers is the story of a group of six adult siblings who lose their parents in a tragic avalanche. When they inherit their family home, they initially plan to sell the mansion and split the profits as part of their inheritance. But when they find themselves at a crossroads, three of the older siblings decide to move back into the house to help support their two youngest siblings, one of whom is on the autism spectrum, the other of whom is a college dropout who winds up pregnant after experimenting with drugs and alcohol. The oldest brother, Lyle, is going through a divorce and trying to raise two children of his own, so it makes sense for them all to move into the house they grew up in until the dust settles, especially since the house is the only place large enough to accommodate everyone.

This was a fun ensemble novel with a storyline for each of the six brothers and sisters. Throughout the course of the book, they find romance and overcome their own personal obstacles. Since this is a Steel novel, of course everything works out in the end. I read this book on a long plane ride, and it helped make the time pass quickly. My only criticism is that the author could have gone into more depth. This is a fairly short book with six storylines, and I would like to have seen more development with each of them.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publsher for providing me with an advanced reader's copy in exchange for my opinions.

once again Danielle Steel has produced an outstanding novel about the Whittiers. Throughly enjoyed reading about all 6 whittier children and their stories. 5 out of 5.

Family of six children and how close they were during the difficult time of the death of their parents. Each sibling was different in their own way but there for their other siblings during the difficult times coming after the death of their parents. There was sadness because of the death of their parents and many decisions to be made after. Romance was in the picture for some of them, happiness with the birth of a nephew and difficult decisions to be made as a family unit. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others.

Preston and Constance have the ideal life. They live in an historic Manhattan mansion, have six children. The nearly empty nesters have a wonderful marriage and still travel every year for their romantic “Wintermoon” . When tragedy occurs and their parents gone, the adult children must come together and decide what is best for their two younger siblings living at home. Should they sell the house or keep it. They must make a decision that will be best for all! Great family drama! Loved it!

Thanks to Danielle Steel and Random House Group-Ballantine for this book

This was the first Danielle Steel book I've read in a long while. It took me a little while to get into the book, and I still didn't find it very exciting. I usually have loved all the Danielle Steel books that I have read, but this wasn't my favorite.

The Whittier family is what family dreams are made of. Successful, still in love, and surrounded by a house full of rambunctious children. As Constance and Preston head out on their yearly Wintermoon vacation, what was once joy turns into tragedy. Now, the children are left with just happy memories and the sorting of all things that come with death in the family.

Each child is at a different stage in life. Lyle lives in an unhappy marriage while Caro and Charlie are working on their fashion empire. Gloria is a successful yet unmarried businesswoman, and Benji and Annabelle are still living at home. Working together, as the Whittier's always do, the family comes together in the light of the tragedy, to become stronger together. Hearts are broken, family ties are strengthened, and the new Whittier's are destined to come out stronger than ever.

This is a story of tragedy & heartbreak, but is followed by so many blessings!
Lyle is in a dead end marriage for the sake of his children. Caro & Charlie are hardworking twins in the fashion industry that are inseparable. Gloria works in finance and is perfectly happy being on her own. Benji has the sweetest soul and has autism. Annabell is young, gorgeous and heading down a bad path of partying.
When their parents pass away in a sudden accident, they all come together to live as a family again. Everyone's life seems to take a different direction for the better.

While I am well-qualified to recognize and appreciate creative writing, there's something to be said for sticking with the facts, and that's pretty much how I describe Danielle Steel's writing. Nothing fancy, just the basic story. Much quicker and easier to read.

Like her previous novel, I didn't feel that there was a plot to this one (the story of six grown siblings), but it held my attention throughout, nevertheless. She's a good enough writer not to require intriguing tales. I've read so many books, lately, that I didn't enjoy that much, that I'm usually a little hesitant to start a new one. Not the case with Ms Steel! I know before I even open one that it's going to hold my attention. So this was just what I needed on my recent road trip when I just couldn't tolerate the other book I took with me.

Another positive about Ms Steel's books is that I can usually get chosen to read them in advance on NetGalley. ❤️

Reviewed on Goodreads and will do the same on other review sites when the book is published.

The Whittiers was a fantastic story about a family that started off with a terrible tragedy but ended up being a blessing for everyone! I loved how the storyline for each character evolved into a happy ending. Ms. Steel knows how to twist senerios that look bad into something beautiful! I love her books and can't wait for the next one!
