The book starts off slow and really just stating of details without anything engaging. The reader finally gets to some dialogue as well as the plot. Story is about The Whittiers, a large, loving family coming together after the tragic accidental death of their parents. There are six siblings who are a wide range in age, at various stages in their personal lives and careers. Some are married, single, twins, one is on the spectrum, one is secretly gay, and a wild child. There will be romance and new love, divorce, secrets revealed and life changing surprises. They all realize how much their Mom handled every day and miss her wisdom. The parents had remained very deeply in love. Their retired parents left the family home to all the children assuming they would sell and divide the proceeds. Events transpire resulting in some of the eldest moving back home. The estate needs to be settled and they can’t agree to sell immediately. Further developments change opinions as some of the siblings circumstances change. The new directions their lives take brings them closer together as a new, ever growing family unit. They are all kind, good people learning to grieve and heal.

It’s a heartwarming story of adults siblings who must find a way to cope and support one another after an unthinkable tragedy. This was a great book. I’ve been a fan of the author for many years and this book does not disappoint.

Preston and Constance Whittier have built a happy life with their six adult children who they raised in a beautiful historic mansion in Manhattan . Only the two youngest still remain living at home. With an almost empty nest, Preston and Constance can continue their yearly tradition of a romantic ski trip they refer to as their “Wintermoon” .

After an unthinkable tragedy, the adult children must find a way to come together and navigate the obstacles not only in each of their own individual lives but also to support one another.

I loved each individual character for their different strengths . Each of the older siblings, except one move back into the mansion to support the youngest two siblings who still live at home. A sister with an unexpected and unwanted pregnancy and a brother with Autism .

This is a heartwarming story of a family who support each other through heartbreak, pregnancy, relationships, and secrets. No matter what is handed to them the siblings come together to love and support one another.

It’s a wonderful story that I would highly recommend well written by a beloved author .

This was my first book of Danielle Steel's. Shocker, right?

On one hand, this book was interesting. I enjoyed getting to know these siblings and how they relate to each other.

On the other hand, I found the perception of wealthy people to be (as usual) over the top. I may have had a few eyerolls during this book.

I didn't love this one but I also didn't dislike it. I found myself hoping these siblings could get it all right and find themselves with their happily ever now. I was rooting for them all. They each brought a different element and layer to the story that made it worth reading.

Overall, this is a decent read.

Another great danielle steel book I could not put down. It kept my interest the entire read. I love how the family all came together stronger than before after a tragic accident. Warms the heart.

The Whittiers is another great heartfelt novel by Danielle Steel! The story revolves around 6 grown siblings who are dealing with the aftermath of their parents unexpected death. As the older children move back to the family home, they realize that some things are more important than money - their parents wanted them to sell their family home or should I say mansion and divide the substantial profit. .The children are at odds with their parents wishes and as the months go on their lives will change.

Thank you for an advance copy! Back in the 80's and 90's I read all of Danielle Steels novels and loved them. I had not read a novel by her in years. The Wittiers did not disappoint! True Danielle Steel fashion. Adult children coming together after a tragedy occurs. I enjoyed each child's backstory and how they come together to show they are still a strong family. Some romance and of course one sibling who is a villian. I would have loved to visit their family home! Thank you Net Galley!

I will forever be a fan of stories centered around familial relationships. They make up such an integral part of our lives no matter which shape or form they show up in. Danielle Steele’s The Whittiers is a heartfelt story of 6 siblings pulling themselves together after the devastating and unexpected loss of their parents. It tugged on my heart strings to see how all of the siblings showed up for each other, took care of each other, and loved each while sorting through their own personal lives.

I do wish we had gotten to know their parents before the tragedy occurred since they seemed like such an important and loved part of the family. The book never truly gave you a major twist or conflict, and while some people may find that to be a flaw or a lack in the book, I absolutely found it refreshing. It was a quick read, mostly predictable, and is neatly tied up with a big bow by the end. If you need a lovely book to reset with after a heavy, emotional read or need to feel all warm and fuzzy inside, reach for this book and you won’t be disappointed!

A feel-good, fairly predictable, easy to read family drama. The siblings were hard working with interesting careers and creativity. There were everyday problems and urgent crises, all brought the siblings closer. The book is a great escape from everyday stress. They were just a typical family with a luxurious fourteen bedroom mansion off Madison Avenue, who vacation in the Hamptons, visit the timeshare or ski in Europe, take the sailboat out, etc. It took my mind off whether I could afford to put gas in the auto, pay the electric bill or buy necessary prescriptions. It also reminded me that loss and problems beset everyone, even if you have the means to get through them. This wasn’t a favorite book by an author I have enjoyed in the past. If you want a little fantasy, make you feel good, happily ever after fiction, this is perfect.

The Whittiers are a much loved family that include six adult children. The parents, Preston and Constance enjoy taking vacations by themselves to rekindle their love.
This year a tragic accident has taken the touchstones of the family away.
Now the children are faced with life without their parents.
Each sibling has their own lives and problems but are still very close.
The story tells what makes up this family and how they cope.

This was a fast read and enjoyable but seemed like the depth of the story wasn't up to Ms. Steele's usual heart felt tug.
However I would still recommend this.

Danielle Steel never disappoints. Her stories are so realistic and you can really visualize everything happening the way she writes it. I couldn't put this down because I wanted to see what happened next.

The Whittiers, by Danielle Steele is another of her formulaic novels about a rich family who loses a loved one, this time their parents, and have to sort out what to do with the ancestral home, as well as the adult children whose lives are mostly a mess. As always, Ms. Steele does this with a deft hand and it all works out in the end.

Another great book. So easy to read and her book make you anxious to turn to the next page. So realistic and her characters always remind you of someone you know. So exciting I couldn't stop reading until I got to the end. Looking forward to her next book!

Loved reading the fabulous and fantastic story about a close-knit family, the Whittiers. When Preston and Constance Whittier tragically die, all six of their adult children come together to help each other and work through their grief. Lyle is going through a hard divorce and trying to protect his two children; the twins, Caroline and Charlie are busy as ever in the fashion industry but have agreed to look after Benjie and help their sister, Annabelle. While five of the six siblings decide to live together in their family's large home, Gloria's working nonstop. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read story of a family coming together to help each other.

Danielle Steel's The Whittiers is a beautiful, heartfelt book. The Whittiers are a large family struck by a devastating tragedy. Each unique character is loveable and adds a wonderful dynamic to the family unit. What begins as slow-burn quickly becomes an engrossing page-turner as Steel gently unfolds the story.

As a fan of Danielle Steel for many years, I am always amazed by her deep and emotional writing style. The Whittiers is another example of Steel's ability to connect with the human spirit. Full of depth and heart-touching moments, the book reached down and touched my soul.

Danielle Steel does it again! I have read all of her books. I started with The Promise in the early 80’s and as each book was released I bought it. The Whittiers is an excellent book with wonderful characters written in Danielle Steel’s style. I was drawn right in from the beginning and it was a very quick read as her books usually are. The Whittier family was very easy to get involved with-I really enjoyed reading this book. I honestly feel it is one of her best books in the last few years! The Whittiers are a close knit family. Preston and Constance have 6 adult children who are devasted to lose their parents in a tragic accident and reunite in their family home. They are all dealing with not only the lose of their beloved parents but their own personal issues, secrets and relationships. The story unfolds within the first year after their loss. For animal lovers like myself, I have to mention that there are 2 rescued dogs (3 by the end of the book) in this story that really touched my heart. This is another great read by Danielle Steel.
