Another fantastic read from Danielle Steel! The Whittiers is a heartwarming book that I found so unputdownable, I read it in one sitting! From the synopsis, I knew this novel centered around a large family which is the reason I was excited to dive in, but in true Danielle Steel fashion, the well developed characters is what will have you glued to your kindle. The storyline had many moving parts and I really enjoyed seeing how everyone’s outcome would play out. The Whittiers is a 5 star novel novel, I promise this family will immediately carve a space in your heart. As per usual, I am already looking forward to reading Danielle Steel’s next release!

When the six Whittier sibling’s parents are killed tragically in a skiing accident, they are brought closer together than ever. Each of the grown children except for one, move back home to the family mansion where they grew up. This is the heart- warming story of their first year without their parents. It is a very inspiring story of how they support each other through all the changes and relationships that develop over time. Thanks to @netgalley and @randomhouse for the ARC of this very enjoyable book.

I really loved this book. When the Whittier's family dynamic changes literally overnight, these five grown siblings are forced to come together to support and discover a new normal for their family. How this family banded together was incredible.

The Whittiers is about a group of siblings that have their world turned upside down when their parents are killed in a skiing accident.
Although the older siblings have their own lives Charlie , Caroline, and Lyle all move back to their family home to help care for their Autistic brother and their pregnant sister. Even though this is not how they imagined their lives they find that they enjoy living together and working together to keep the family in tact. Through the tragedy they all find their own happiness.
Danielle Steel continues to delight with her books . Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for a copy for my opinion.

This is the best Danielle Steel book I have read in a long time.

A large family learns what it Is to lose their parents, and then come together to learn just how important family is. This is a delightful book with lots of emotions.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the books by Danielle Steel.

If you are a Danielle Steel fan, The Whittiers is another don’t miss read. Tragedy strikes the large family and siblings pull together to ensure all are taken care of. This book is a story about overcoming tragedy and growing stronger in the process. Worth the read!!

It has been quite a while since I have read Danielle Steel. I loved this story as the theme was relatable to all as it deals with the instantaneous loss of beloved parents from the perspective of each of their children. How the sibling relationships are impacted and while yes the story is wrapped beautifully in gorgeous settings from locales to glamourous careers, the emotions and complexities remain true. The Whittiers will be enjoyed by both long time Steel fans and those who have never read her. I also LOVE the cover!

I so enjoyed “The Whittiers”, by Danielle Steel. Everyone of her stories are well developed and the characters are so relatable. The Whittiers is set in NYC and follows three brothers and three sisters, and how they navigate the ups and downs of life and love. Another Danielle Steel must read.

A feel-good story in the aftermath of the death of the beloved parents of six siblings,
When Preston and Constance Whittier die on their annual vacation, all of their children return to their Manhattan mansion to console one another and make decisions. Each sibling is very different from the other and all have the typical life issues and obstacles to address. The parents had asked that the mansion be sold for profit after their death, but what if the siblings want to keep and maintain their childhood home?

Danielle Steel delivers a homey and happy story - perfect for Thanksgiving season. If you love Danielle Steel, a complicated family, or just a feel - good story, The Whittiers is for you! #TheWhittiers.

I always love a danielle Steel book so when I saw this arc available I knew I had.to read it. It's a feel good, snuggle with a blanket on a cold fall or winter day (I mean even the cover says so too ;)) This book is about a family that goes on vacation and as they're vacationing tragedy strikes, leaving the children to pick up the pieces and figure out how to navigate the trials and tribulations of life. I really enjoyed this book and thank netgalley and the publishers for letting me read earlier :)

In the beginning of 'The Whittiers’, we are introduced to Preston and Constance Whittier, a successful and wealthy couple and parents to six adult children, one of whom, has developmental delays. On a European vacation, they are tragically killed in an accident.
The book follows the six siblings over the year following their parents' death. It's a story of love, loss, overcoming fears, and finding who you are. As a sibling of an adult with developmental delays and someone who recently lost a parent, I could related to their emotions.
I especially loved Benjie's story as it was refreshing to see a story of someone who struggles like my brother does, to see a character thrive in light of his circumstances.

Danielle Steel is often a comfort author for me. I read her books after much heavier reads, especially when the description of the book gives the reader hope for a good ending.

The Whittier family is very close. The six children grew up in a tight-knit family. The parents, very involved in their children's lives take two to three weeks each January to take a trip themselves. A time for them to reconnect and escape the demands of a busy life. This trip however ends in tragedy and it is up to the family to pull together as they always have to get through their loss.

In the process of pulling together, each adult child will face their own challenges. The family will band together and give the kind of support only siblings can.

Five of the six siblings move into the family home while trying to decide what to do with the home. This was one of my favorite aspects of the novel. It isn't a common even in books I have read and it worked wonderfully. For so many, family is what gets us through the hard times and the siblings uniting in this way truly touched my heart.

As we follow the family and their challenges, we also get to see good things happen for each person.. They learn that while their lives have changed in huge ways, family will always be there. No matter what the future holds, they will always have each other.

I loved everything about this novel. Danielle Steel is a master at tugging at the heart and this novel definitely does that.

I voluntarily received a copy of this book from Random House. All views are simply my honest opinion.

When you pick up a Danielle Steele book, you know what you will get. Her classic formula of tragedy with a happy ending, repeating character’s thoughts until you feel you know them well. I pick and choose her novels because there are just too many. I enjoyed the Whittiers, although it was entirely predictable. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

I've probably been reading Danielle Steel books since the mid-1980s. They are my comfort food for reading. As I have said in other reviews of her books, I always know what I'm getting and can just put my brain on automatic while I read and relax a bit. I read "The Whittiers" after a very intense psychological thriller that left me physically exhausted. As soon as I read through the first chapter of this book, I felt my body begin to unwind.

The Whittier kids are all grown up leading their own lives. A failed marriage, an unplanned pregnancy, and death are just some of the challenges the Whittiers face, leading them to live in the family home. Don't forget to throw in some unexpected, whirlwind relationships and a happy ending, and you've got yourself a delightful Danielle Steel book.

Of the three ARCs I have that are written by Danielle Steel coming out this year (Aug, Oct & Nov 2022) this is my favorite. A fairly close knit family of six siblings are brought together by tragedy. The Whittier’s parents die together in an accident. Their children are mostly grown ages 21 and up. All are at different stages of life with the oldest being the only one married with two children. There is small inheritances for everyone but the biggest asset is the family home. It is a 25,000 square foot house in NYC worth $50-100 million dollars. But five of the six, each for their own reasons, end up living in the house together. There is a general sense of family love and connection. Even though they aren’t all in agreement they are supportive of each other as each as their own story.

I enjoy romances so I like that many of the siblings find love during the course of the story. There is representation as one of the siblings comes out to the family. Something they couldn’t do while the father was alive. One brother is on the high end of the autistic spectrum and needs extra attention and care. It helps that everyone in the family is likable. Even the oldest sister who has some harsh things to say to the the youngest. The oldest son is going through a divorce so his wife is the only villain in the story.

I cared for the family and enjoyed following them in the year time period of the novel. And I would dearly love to have the chance to stay in their NYC home. The story is sweet, heartwarming, funny and filled with caring. Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballentine for eARC in exchange for an honest review. (4.5 stars)
