I really enjoyed this twisty, unpredictable thriller. I enjoyed the narration and I felt that Daniel's sections being in second person added to the creepiness of his parts. There were several twists and turns and it was difficult to know who to trust, but as the information was slowly revealed, it did feel like it was ever to slightly too easy for the main character to escape the dangerous situations.

However the final reveal came as somewhat of a surprise and the ending was satisfying! All in all an enjoyable read, if not anything ground breaking. I'll certainly keep my eye out for future books from this author.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for my chance at the ARC!!

I read a lot of thrillers and I say bravo to this author for having an original plot with an unexpected twist and characters that you love to hate! I listened to the audiobook version of this and the male narrator did an amazing job capturing Daniel (very creepy). This book had everything- revenge, secrets, affairs, hunky men, woman power, and other things that I can't list without giving it away. Awesome read- definitely recommend this one! Five stars!!!!!

Thank you Netgalley for this audio edition of Make Me Disappear by Jessica Payne.

I love an audiobook with multiple narrators, which is what this is. A voice for the husband and the wife, always helping to add another dimension to the story.

Noelle is a nurse, who's life is absolutely perfect on paper. Her husband is a handsome and wealthy doctor, and just loves and dotes on Noelle. So then why is Noelle working SO hard to run from Daniel? What exactly is Daniel hiding, and is Noelle in danger?

This is a slow unfold, switching from past and present timelines, to see just how Noelle and Daniel got in the position that they're in now. I enjoyed the unique directions in went and was definitely caught unexpected.

But the complicated part, which is hard to talk about without giving spoilers was first, the absurd unbelievability of it, and also perhaps excusing really problematic behavior? Either way, both of those things were so big, that by the end of the book I had a hard time feeling much, but I was impressed at how the author was able to pull off something quite different.

A fake kidnapping gone bad, a creepy and controlling boyfriend, a missing ex-girlfriend, and sweet revenge make this cat and mouse thriller hard to put down! The book’s storyline was unique compared to other thrillers I’ve read. I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrators were good, so I do recommend listening if you enjoy audio books. This book gave me a lot of “You” Netflix series vibes, especially with Daniel’s character, so if you’ve seen the show and like it, you will love this book. The story bounces back and forth between Noelle’s and Daniel’s point of views with each chapter and has a few twists and turns thrown in. I didn’t see the ending coming; it was definitely a NICE twist! I did at one point think a few of the characters’ stories would go in a different direction at the end of the book, but the author threw me for a loop, which I liked because the storyline wasn’t predictable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for the ACR of this book!

Make Me Disappear is a book with a difference. Steadily climbing in intrigue and suspense, ending in a cascade of shocks and twists. Narrated by Josh Wichard as the part of Dr Daniel Ashcroft and Amelia Sciandra as Daniel’s girlfriend Noelle, we follow a trail of convoluted ideas and plot twists. I loved listening to Josh as the character Daniel. He was believable and brought the character to life. I wasn’t as fond of Amelia’s voice unfortunately as it really felt like she was just reading the words. There wasn’t a lot of expression there and I found that I switched off a few times when it was her part.
The premise of the story is that Daniel is a control freak and very possessive of Noelle, who can’t seem to escape him and therefore arranges her own kidnapping, which then turns out to be a real kidnapping. She becomes friendly with the kidnapper and from there, all hell lets loose. I wouldn’t recommend this book to cynics because it takes some amount of imagination to get your head around some of the ideas but if you enjoy a good yarn and are prepared to stretch your imagination, then this book is for you.

This was just okay for me. I enjoyed the plot but the main characters not as much as I thought I would. Maybe it was the narrator I didn’t like as much.

Was a good book. Took some time to get into but had a great ending plot twist. Was slightly predicatble but there were things that were unexpected that kept you listening.

Thanks to my friends at @bookouture I was lucky enough to have both an e-book and audio version, and I’ve got to tell you that the audio version, narrated by Josh Wichard and Amelia Sciandra, is smoking 🔥. The Daniel chapters made chills run down my spine. 😳

I loved the narrators and twists in this audiobook! Fantastic debut novel Jessica! Thank you for the copy!

A not-be-missed debut! This book was dark and twisty. I couldn’t put it down. The author did an excellent job of making you feel what Noelle was feeling. Who can you trust? Who is after you? How will she be able to escape? I look forward to the next thriller by this talented author.

Excellent narrators. If was easy to forget you had two narrators and not a full cast reading!

Noel has a service kidnap her so she can get away from her boyfriend, Daniel. I liked Noel, the balls she has, it's awesome. I liked this book so much. Maybe it's the woman who takes back control of her life that I like. I can't believe this is a debut novel. The ending was so good. I can't wait to see the next novel Jessica Payne writes.

I was so looking forward to this one as the blurb sounded brilliant. Unfortunately I found it extremely far fetched and had no interest in the characters or the story. A DNF for me. I couldn’t take to the narrator on this one either

This audiobook hooked me from the start which doesn’t always happen. Dr. Daniel Ashcroft is dating nurse Noelle and things were great until she discovered he had been watching her via spy camera and began hearing about his prior girlfriends disappearance. Noelle wants out but knows Daniel won’t just let her go so she has to come up with an outside of the box idea to get away, what could go wrong? This was an exciting read from start to finish, quick paced but very descriptive. Both of the narrators did a great job, I found both voices to be very pleasant.

Daniel made it clear I couldn't leave him. I had to disappear, so I arranged my own kidnapping."

What could possibly go wrong?! Buckle up because right from the opening line Make Me Disappear by needs to be writing psychological thrillers full time debut author Jessica Payne hits the gas and never puts on the brakes.

Noelle is a nurse who catches the eye of handsome, charming, wealthy anesthesiologist Daniel. He wines, dines and then traps her. Cameras in her home, spyware on her phone and controlling her every move.

She suspects he's responsible for her Aunt's death after her surgery. He didn't like she would be spending less time with him taking care of her recuperating Aunt. She discovers a place that fake kidnaps people as a prank and arranges her own kidnapping so Daniel can't trace her. It is soon obvious the kidnapping is real but why? Who?

For the record if you are being kidnapped smoldering sexy tattooed Jack is not a bad idea. Voiced by supreme narrator Josh Wichard I was ready for my blindfold and handcuffs but I digress. As Daniel he is the epitome of a narcissistic psychopathic mama's boy. Then there is the glorious actress Amelia Sciandra as Noelle. Scared but fearless, tired but determined she gives Noelle's voice full character. Hearing both Noelle and Daniel speak their POV was so much fun; especially Daniel's own brand of crazy.

I figured out the big twist just before it was revealed but I didn't realize the intricate details as to the reasons for it.

A Lifetime movie in the making this story should not disappear from your TBR list. A side note to the writer, I think a sequel about Jack is definitely warranted for your new loyal readers.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from Bookouture Audio via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Daniel is a super controlling boyfriend,, to the point where he has hidden cameras in Noelle’s apartment, and she is looking for a way to get out of the relationship but she knows he won’t let her. So when she sees an advertisement for a fake kidnapping company, she decides to hire them, only she s going to use it as a way of escape.
I had lots of issues with this book, especially being that nothing really happened that wasn’t totally predictable. I had a problem with the idea of a fake kidnapping as well. If you’re going to pay someone to help you escape, wouldn’t you hire someone who could actually help you?! Not some dude who does this as a gag for bachelorette parties. Which, by the way, I have a problem with as well in that I don’t find a fake kidnapping to be something that anyone should want to take part in!
Daniel is a complete and utter tool. Anesthesiologist or not, he is a self centered mama’s boy who needs to be on his own to sort out his many issues.
Noel’s cousin is as shady as they get and yet Noelle is totally fine with all her stuff. There’s no way.
I wanted to like this as there was supposed to be a plot twist that you didn’t see coming, but they on,u way you wouldn’t have seen it would be if this was your first ever thriller.
The narrator was a saving grace in keeping me from DNF. I found myself tuning in and out several times just to get it done. It wasn’t the worst thing ever but it sure could use a pulse.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this audiobook arc in exchange for my review.

This was such a solid and surprising debut! Noelle is trapped in an abusive relationship with her "perfect" boyfriend Daniel. Having no way to get out and no one to turn to, she decides to fake her own kidnapping. Of course, things do not go as planned and after many twists and turns, one unexpected, shocking ending is revealed. I am excited to see what this author comes out with next!

Read this if you like:
-Domestic/ psych thrillers
-Dual POVs
-Alternating timelines
-Short chapters
-Shocking twists
-Gone Girl and You

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Make Me Disappear' by Jessica Payne.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Jessica Payne, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 16th May 2022.

This is the Jessica Payne's debut novel.

I was originally drawn to this book by its eye catching unique cover and intriguing sounding synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that 'Fans of The Wife Between Us, Gone Girl and The Couple Next Door will find it impossible to put down.' I am a huge fan of 'Gone Girl' so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue and 85 40 chapters. The chapters are short to medium so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in Seattle, USA 🇺🇸.

This book is written in first person perspective and the main protagonists are Noelle Thomas and Daniel Ashcroft. The benefits of books written in first person perspective are as long as they are well written it makes you feel that you are being spoken to by the protagonist and it can create more of a bond between yourselves and them. If there are several protagonists you also get to see more of what is going on.

'Make Me Disappear' discusses some topics that may trigger some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Jessica discusses/includes domestic abuse.

OMFG!!! If this is what you can do with your debut novel Jessica then I cannot wait to see what you have up your sleeves for your next success!!!!

This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions that will leave your heart pounding and you sitting on the edge of your seat throughout. The cover and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.

Well, Well, Well what an absolutely EXPLOSIVE non stop, action packed suspense rammed psychological thriller!!! This book is filled with tension, suspense, secrets, lies, explosive reveals and an absolutely bombshell ending!!! I picked this up this morning and I just could not put it down!!! This is one of those books that when I wasn't reading it physically I was listening to the audio book. I am not a regular audio book listener but I must say the narrators were absolutely perfect, especially the guy who voiced Daniel, he absolutely sent shivers down my spine!!! This book came with one twist after another and you jist did not know who to trust!!! I would never have expected THAT reveal though so an absolutely HUMONGOUS CONGRATULATIONS to Jessica. Its getting harder and harder to shock me lately but you absolutely blew my mind and for a debut novel, well I think that's only the second time ever someone's first book has shocked me so much!!! I felt like I was standing next to Noelle and Daniel throughout the book and my heart was literally racing at times. When it came to the ending I literally shouted out OMG WTF and got a few dodgy looks from my partner!!! This has got to be one of the best books I have ever read and I cannot wait to see what else you have up your sleeve!!! This book can be hard at some points as it revolves around the topics of domestic abuse and gaslighting but I am a firm believer that these subjects should be written about more in fiction as it can help victims see that what is going on isn't normal and hopefully get help before it's too late which may in turn save a life. Jessica has done an amazing job weaving these topics into an unputdownable psychological thriller.

It is set over/includes multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.

Do not even think about picking this up until you have cleared your schedules as you will NOT be able to put it down!!!

The characters were realistic, creepily so in Daniel's case, we'll defined and strong. I felt like I was sitting opposite Noelle while she told me her story and hiding in the corner when Daniel spoke. As I've previously mentioned the narrators for the audio book did an absolutely fantastic job and the voices were perfect for the characters but even with me reading the physical copy I had a string sense of their personalities. My heart went out to Noelle who just did not know who to trust or where to turn to. I was completely invested in her throughout and loved watching her character develop and grow from beginning to end. Daniel was another story and he absolutely made my skin crawl. My partner listened to one chapter from Daniel and his words were "I want to punch him already"!!! Whether you love or hate them they all work perfectly to make an unputdownable novel that will keep you addicted from the first page to the last.

Congratulations Jessica on an absolutely amazing, unputdownable, explosive successful debut novel. One of the best I've ever read!!!! Here is to youe next success 🥂

If you pick up one book this year THIS is the one for you!!!

Overall an absolutely heart racing, explosive, unputdownable psychological thriller that will keep you up at night.

Genres covered in this book include Psychological Fiction, Psychological Thriller, Suspense, Thriller, Debut and Mystery amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of 'The Wife Between Us' , 'Gone Girl', 'The Couple Next Door' and every single person reading this review!!!

Once you start this book, you won’t want to put it down! Perfect for fans of YOU,
Make Me Disappear” is a psychological thriller based on an emotionally abusive relationship between charming and narcissistic Dr. Daniel Ashcroft ,and Noelle, a cardiac nurse at the same hospital. Daniel is tracks and watches her every move, is controlling, demanding and threatens those Noelle lives in order to maintain his dominance and control. Noelle hatches a plan to safely leave her abusive relationship until everything goes wrong. She is constantly evaluating who she can trust as she forms an unlikely alliance who helps her seek vengeance and justice while attempting to keep her and those she loves safe.

What follows next is a twisted, Entertaining and fast paced read. View points from Noel and Daniel alternate giving you a look into his perspective. While I did guess who was behind everything, there were several surprising twists and I still enjoyed the wild ride! Will absolutely be returning to this author!
