Perfect is creepy and intriguing. It's very different than the other books that I've read by this author, but definitely a good read nonetheless. I look forward to seeing more of this author's writing in this style.

So glad I cam back to this read after a rocky first start. When I first picked up my arc (thank you Netgalley) about a year ago I couldn't get into this book and ended up putting it down. However, I've come back around and I'm so glad I did! Clearly I just wasn't in the right headspace the first time, because this book was such an enjoyable read.

A quick, creepy well written tale with characters you grow invested in. This book is a great pick for anyone looking for something spooky, sincere, and fun.

This was a bit outside what I'd normally read but I am glad that I was given the chance to read it because I really enjoyed it! It was an easy fast paced read with an interesting premise. I will definitely be reading the other books in this series.

This book was very interesting. Somewhat outside of my typical genre, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by this book.

Unfortunately, I have been locked out of my netgalley account for a few months and was not able to see which books I had on my list, in order to properly read and review. I do apologize and am doing a 3 for neutral. Will update once I’m able to obtain a copy and read!

Juliet Huff is perfect. She's never been sick, been outside, or had any friends. Her parents are researchers for the secret group known as the Genesis Foundation. The foundation is trying to create a utopia where no more children die from disease or birth defects. They aim to clone "perfect" children in order to achieve this goal. Any imperfect children are disposed of. Juliet realizes she will be the first Genesis child to reach her 18th birthday where she will be preserved as a permanent record of their work. However, she has other plans, she met someone from the outside world. She plans to expose the Genesis Foundation. Overall this book was great and I definitely recommend it.

What a great read! Fast paced, creepy and dark. People cloning to find that one “perfect” specimen is definitely not a new idea but so compelling. This book gives you a little bit of everything – sci-fi, government conspiracy, science and romance and keeps you engaged until the last page….and beyond. I can’t wait for another book in this series.

Thank you NetGalley, Victory Editing and the author for a free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I received this for honest review.

This was a good read. I was only able to read at night while everybody was sleeping. This would book kept me up late reading.
I felt so bad for Juliet and her sister Juliet eight.
There parents are horrible people. I just wanted to jump in the book and kill them myself.
Little Juliet Eight was made out of Juliet DNA. They need to be perfect. Well that didn't happen at all.
The parents was going to freeze Juliet at her 18th birthday.
At the end it didn't happen. Both girls got out and got help from FBI.
I'm excited for book 2!

Multiple genres are touched in this book. It took me by surprise as I was reading it. It is super fast-paced and it has a very interesting plot. It compels you to keep reading and find out what the heck is going on.

This is the first book I have read by L.A. Kessler and it was an interesting one! The 1st in a series of 3. I’m really looking forward to reading the other books in the series. Kessler has reopened the door on how well do you really know your neighbors, your friends and even your own family? This book is full of suspense, conspiracy and twist and turns that keep you guessing. You don't know who to trust or believe, definitely a page turner.

Juliet and her sister have been trapped in her parents house since they were born. She finds out they are part of an experiment, and break free with the help of the neighbourhood friends Billie, Todd and Zack. They aim to get the experiment exposed, but don't know who to trust, or how big it is.
Great fantasy type book, lots of imagination and brilliant characters. So looking forward to the next instalment, to cheer on Billie and Juliet!

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Tied together by a stolen kiss years ago, Billy and Juliet cross paths again, this time in the wake of a daring escape from the mortal dangers of medical experimentation. With the help of childhood friends, Billy is tasked with keeping Juliet and her sister, Julie-Eight, safe from the underground Genesis group that has been holding the girls hostage their entire lives. Nobody can be trusted and nobody is safe from this group that is bigger than the kids can imagine.

This is an interesting concept. Some of the events don't quite translate well to reality, but if you're able to suspend a little bit of belief it's still an entertaining read. It blends sci-fi and thriller fairly seamlessly.

I do kinda worry about the story jumping the shark with some revelations about government investigative groups and advanced technology near the end of the book, but I will have to read on to find out.
I have a feeling the scope of the conspiracy will only escalate as the series continues. This story ends on quite the cliffhanger, so I'm curious to see where it goes.

ometimes science demands sacrifice...

Perfection.

Juliet Huff’s life depends on it.

Rating : 3 out of 5 stars
Blurbs :
She’s never been outside, had friends over, or attended school. She’s also never had a cold, a bruise, or a scrape.

Her parents are researchers, part of the secretive Genesis Foundation, and they have one goal. Utopia. No one will ever lose another child to disease or birth defects. They’ll achieve their goal through cloning perfect children. In order to attract funding, any imperfect subjects are terminated.

As she nears her eighteenth birthday, she discovers she will become the first Genesis child to reach this milestone and will be “preserved” as a permanent record of their work unless she can break free.

But Juliet has a secret. She met someone from the outside world once, the boy from across the street. Escaping her house, she finds Bill Manning all grown up, but time is running out and she must expose the Genesis Foundation…

Because she’ll never be perfect again.

Thoughts : Some people might find this book a bit disturbing so please check out all the trigger warnings and at least, please read the blurbs. It's a mystery thriller book with a little sci-fi touch in it. I find it okay and I enjoy my time reading this. Do recommend this book for anyone who loves thriller and scifi! Thanks Netgalley for the e-ARC!

This is a seriously addictive book, I started it on a Saturday evening and stayed up till 2:30am to finish it because I couldn’t sleep until I knew what happened.
I loved the concept of this book, I couldn’t stop turning pages I had so many questions. What was happening to all the babies, how can they all die due to cot death?
Why is Juliet forced to live her life in such a way that she remains “perfect”?
What is Genesis?

I can’t answer any of these questions for you as it is such a crazy ride when you find them out for yourself. What I did love about this book was seeing the world from our two perspectives, Juliet and Bill, one who had never stepped foot out of the house until a few days before their 18th birthday and the other who seemed to have had a relatively normal upbringing.

As thrilling and addictive as this book is unfortunately it wasn’t a five star read, there were quite a few plot holes which just didn’t sit right with me. Perfect is the first book I’ve read from the author and I was really impressed with the pacing and character development. I will definitely be continuing with the trilogy as I am fully invested with both the characters and the story.

Wow, what an exciting and intense read! The reader can't help but fall in love with the characters. I couldn't put this book down. I can't wait to read the next books in this trilogy.

3.5 Stars

Overall I enjoyed reading this book. The story was a fun, fast-paced sci-fi thriller. The story was suspenseful, and horrifying. Cloning, experiments, murder and conspiracy definitely keep the plot interesting and it’s easy to fly through this book. It does escalate quite quickly and may be a bit unbelievable at times, but overall the story was fun.

Perfect kind of read like a Young Adult novel to me, although I guess you would call it New Adult since the main characters were 18-19. But for the most part it felt like I was reading a YA novel. I didn’t really care for the romance, it felt very rushed and unbelievable to me, with a lack of chemistry. I also felt like parts of the story were a bit rushed. I also think the characters could have used a little more depth.

It may not be a perfect novel (pun intended hehe), but it was definitely a fun, fast-paced ride!

It held my attention completely due to the great writing of this author. I wouldn’t refer to this book as a thriller more suspense, sci-fi(ish) to me as it focuses on cloning. It all seemed a little far fetched and escalated so quickly it went a little too far left field for me but like I said it did hold my attention and I wanted to see what in the world was going to happen next. As much as the story line isn’t exactly what I love I did enjoy the book. Gotta hand it to the author and her skills, I was pleasantly surprised! Huge thanks to netgalley and publishers for the e-arc!

This story hooked me right away--a man and wife just had a baby but it's not their first; in fact, they've had seven and everyone died of crib death. Curiously too much of a coincidence for me. As I read on, I met Juliet. A nine-year-old girl was born to these weird parents and nicknamed the "perfect girl." She watches the neighbor kids play outside from her window because she is never allowed outside--the sun could cause her to freckle which would render her flawed, imperfect, and apparently imperfection in their house is dealt with by death. The question lingered for me though: why?

This story was fun. It was a little predictable but there were also a couple of twists. It covered a wide range: sci-fi, suspenseful thriller, a bit of horror, and budding romance. There were a couple of minor plot holes and redundancies but hopefully, they were fixed before publication.

I would firstly like to thank Net Galley for the opportunity to read the Arc in return for a review. The plot starts off with a group of boys who, whilst camping out in the back garden they dare each other to go over to the"weird house" down the road that everyone stays away from, Billy one of the boys gets more than he bargained for and from then on his, his friends life's and the residents in the 'weird house" will never be the same again... If you love sci-fi, thriller suspense you will love this book as much I do. I devoured this book, I was 100 percent invested in the characters, the plot and how well written this book was. From the first pages I physically gasped at the plot twists,The whole time I was literally sat on the edge of my seat. I wept along with the characters,my heart racing at end... I wanted to read more. I can not wait to read the next in the trilogy. I will be thinking about this book for a long time to come. I need to get my hand on a physical copy, this will definitely be a reread in the not so distant future. One if not the best book I've read this year so far..

I’ve been duped!
I love the concept of this book- which was proposed as a horror/thriller/sci-fi/mystery. About 200 pages and one quick google search of the author in, I realized my fears had come true- y’all this is a romance novel. And a teen one to boot! Tongues were literally referred to as tangled. I can’t.

I feel like I’m not a good source for a proper review because I really do not like romance- and teen romance makes me feel sick :/ That being said- if you love teen sci-fi dystopian romance, this is the book for you! And you’re in luck, it’s the first of a series!

….but if you share reading preferences with me, skip it.

Thank you @netgalley for allowing me to read and review this ARC.
