Entertaining, easy to read and makes me so glad I am not dating anymore. This book had moments where I laughed out load and cringed as well. Quick read.

"Single Taken Cursed" by Nicki Bell is a captivating and humorous novel that explores the perils of modern dating and the curse of being single. It follows the misadventures of Nicki, a young woman who is convinced that she is cursed to be perpetually single.

Throughout the book, Nicki's journey is marked by a series of hilarious encounters with a range of eccentric and outlandish characters. From her overbearing mother to her friend's flirtatious brother, Nicki navigates the ups and downs of the dating scene with wit and charm.

The writing is engaging and lively,

Cute stories about the horrors of dating. Hard to believe these actually happened, but relatable to the troubles of finding a partner.

I loved this book, it was so hilarious. Her dating horror stories were great, and I can relate to them because we all have our own dating horror stories. I also liked that the book was based in Scotland, as the country fascinates me. Overall it was a great and hilarious read, and I couldn't stop laughing while reading it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy.

A laugh out loud book filled with anecdotes from the author's dating life. She has a gift with words and you can see the events in your mind as they play out.
Perhaps not a book to read on public transport as fellow commuters may think you're crazy as you sit cackling to yourself at the funny parts (& all of them are funny)
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me the chance to read this book.

I expected something different when I picked this book. I thought it would be a collection of stories of people that the author goes out to meet and then encounters strange situations. They were not all that way. A couple were just ones that happened to the author during the course of her numerous and varied jobs. I think the book could have actually focused on that! The author seems to have tried a lot of interesting avenues.
It is a short book, with even shorter chapters of varying hilarity. This rating of mine is more because I did not find anything to dislike in the book. There is a dignity that is maintained throughout, making it easy to chuckle at some instances and not really react to others.
Given the size of the book, this review cannot really be longer than this. I think people who have participated in the dating scene and faced odd people would probably enjoy this more than I did.
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, but the review is based on my own reading experience.

Hilarious and quick read!

I don’t know if these stories are truly real, but if they are. . . . Someone get this woman a lifestyle supply of wine. The stories were hilariously told and felt totally relatable, regardless of whether you’re single or not. A must read if you’re looking for something fun and light.

I honestly don’t have a lot to say about this book. I wanted something quick, and I’m having a lot of a fun with anecdotal reads at the moment so this seemed ideal. Single Taken Cursed is a collection of terrible dates wrapped up into a bite-sized ebook, although I’m not sure this needed to be in book form. Sure, some of the tales are a lot of fun to read but some are downright bizarre and I’m not sure I’d ever want anybody to know that they had happened to me.

Must admit, I didn’t expect to read it in one sitting - it’s easily the funniest book I’ve read this year so far, but it’ll be hard to beat!

In Single, Taken Cursed Nicki Bell, tells some of her worst dating experiences, and the more unbelievable they funnier they get. I thought I had some bad dating experiences…

This woman is an incredible story teller, I felt like I was sitting in a bar with a gin her telling me about her bad dates.

Fab book detailing some less pleasant dates the author has had the joy of experiencing. Maybe not for reading in a public place as it is laugh-out-loud funny. Would make a good stand-up show at Edinburgh Fringe.

A hilariously witty and painfully relatable collection of short stories about the horrors of modern dating in all it's chaotic glory. A very quick and easy read with a conversational voice that invokes the sense you're just trading anecdotes with a friend.

Hilarious short stories that are so relatable, had me laughing all the way through. If you are looking for a easy read that will make you laugh and occasionally cringe this is the book for you. The writing style was simple and effective and the overall flow of the stories felt very smooth.

🎭'Tragedy + time = comedy': good way to summarize🙂

This is a quick read, easy to pick up, read a few stories of dating horrors and then put down for more later. None of the anecdotal stories was bad and there were some really humorous moments -- would YOU tell a teenage guy with potential that your favorite drink is goat's milk?! -- but nothing particularly popped out as special until the last story. Then, the author's odyssey through a sea of loser encounters starting in her teens reveals its purpose.

Easy to read, amusing.

Thanks to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

I enjoyed this. I did. Despite the 3 star, it was a high three star.

Whilst we go through a ton of terrible dates, even with adult humour tucked into each story - unfortunately for me each story just came across a little... childish. YES I know we're going through her younger years, but when I reflect on my own experiences I don't feel like me or my friendship group were *QUITE* that immature.

I did however, really enjoy the final story.. the one. Even though it was still a little on the rushed side for me. Overall a good chuckle but not something I'd reread.

This was a short, amusing, easy read. I really enjoyed all of the stories as they were all so different. I just can’t find myself believing that they all happened! If they did, then credit to the author for actually making it through all that horror. Perhaps it’s just the introvert in me being sceptical. Either way, this was very entertaining and I’m glad the author included how she met her husband at the end!

I found the first story in this book neither funny nor realistic and it appears greatly exaggerated. It was more disturbing than anything and I'm not sure why it was included. I skimmed the second one but it didn't pull me in. I didn't read any further.

The author also comes across as snarky and not very warm or likeable, from her introduction in the prologue.
