Single Taken Cursed by Nicki Bell was a quick read. The book recounted some cringeworthy dates that teenage Nicki went on. Funny stuff!

I did not plan to read this book in one sitting. I’d planned to just dip in and read one or two of the stories…cut to a couple of hours later and I’d finished the book and had cried off my eye cream (I was reading in bed with all my lotions on, it was Friday night and I was feeling wild!). This was absolutely hilarious and I have to give this 5 shiny stars.

I love funny reading stories about the dating game as it reminds me so much of when my flatmate and I would come home after a disaster of a date and tell each other all about it. This book was written is such a friendly way that it felt like chatting with a pal, or reading an agony aunt page in Bliss magazine. It was such a joy to read.

I laughed so hard during this book! I am about the same age as the author so I loved the references to Bebo, MSN messenger, blue hair mascara, the gorgeousness of Nick Carter (who has aged like a fine wine!). The nostalgia made me so happy! It’s so fun for me to read something set in the 00s/2010s that I get to relate to.

This book was set in Scotland and took place in familiar locations to me which is something I always enjoy in a book!

This gave me so many laughs! I boked at the bathmat story but hey, he was still a gentleman. The spot story genuinely made me gag! I was not sad about my lack of teenage dating during that tale.

This was such a fun and entertaining book about the dating perils over the years. It was light and enjoyable to read. I finished it during one evening because I didn’t realise how long I’d been reading until I was at the end.

I received a free e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved it! At the end of the book it says that the author plans to release four more books in 2022, I plan to read those books.

As someone who most definitely falls into the “cursed” category of dating, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. My only problem was that I didn’t understand some of the slang, Other than that, great job!

Single Taken Cursed is a collection of real life dating disaster stories of author Nicki Bell. Thank you net galley for approving me to read this!

This is a fabulous light hearted book which gave me Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging vibes but more catered towards adults. The only thing I didn’t like about this book was I wanted more stories!

Some of the dates made me cringe, and others made me laugh out loud. If you’re in a reading slump or need something easy and hilarious, this is a great book to pick up!

A wuick and easy read that I read in one sitting. It was both funny and cringey in equal measure and was completely relatable. I loved it.

So many hilarious dates that I feel like I am reading the cringe section of cosmopolitan or something my younger self would read in the magazines about people admitting to embarrassing situations

I love the 90s/00s pop culture references and the complete nostalgia I was getting when certain trends or references were made, such as; Bebo, Teletext, MSN Messengers and Kays Catalogue (actually ordering from a book and not a click on your phone?! – oh those were the days take me back!) “if you were born after 1995, ask your parents.” Or also as said in the book, “if you’re too young to know what that is then google it”

I like the fact that not all the stories are cringy worthy, or full of “weird” individuals trying to hit on Nicki or encourage her to join a scheme, Steven’s story was funny but also sweet, plus I loved the fact that the story ended happily with Nicki’s introduction to her husband, this book proves that as much as there are some strange and uncanny individuals out there, here are good guys out there!

Short and sweet. Funny enough, I always toyed about writing a book on the same premise, all the bad dates I’ve been on. This one is cute and definitely up there with terrible dates.

I really, really enjoyed this book! It was just what I needed to get out of my reading slump I’ve been in.

Nicki Bell is a comedian that takes her readers through her dating years and all the funny and disastrous dates she went through.
I was hoping for a quick, easy to read book and "Single Taken Cursed" was exactly that. We go through 14 different chapters (each one one different story) and I was flying through the chapters, very entertained with all the stories.
This is quite a refreshing read, and perfect if you're in the middle of a reading slump or feel like reading something lighter.
The fact each chapter is a different story is also great for an occasional read in between books.
There's nothing very remarkable to say about this book, but I believe that wasn't the goal either. Instead we are presented with an entertaining read that will make us have a good time.

Thank you to NetGalley and Nicki Bell for a copy in exchange for honest review.

From the start I loved the title and from reading the blurb I knew it was my kind of book. I very much enjoyed reading Nicki's love stories and found most of them incredibly funny; always wanting to read another story.

If you're looking for an easy and funny read this is your go to book for sure.

Short tales about the woes of dating. Comedian Nicki Bell takes readers through a variety of stories about past dates or almost dates she's had in the past that were tragic in one way or another.

This was shorter than I thought but easy to read.

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a quick, enjoyable read. It was quite entertaining as well; it's been a while since a book has made me laugh at all, so it was refreshing to read this one. Some of the language was a bit confusing because of the culture differences, but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one.
