What a fun read. I enjoyed the mystery and the fun story that has me guessing until the end. Can't wait to read more!

I read and reviewed this book through CelebratLit.com. This review is totally my own honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a Christian book that is not preachy in any way. It is very light-hearted and sometimes even funny. The main character, Marigold, is very well developed, she could be a member of your family or next-door neighbor. She is a very dedicated person. The other characters are well developed according to their role in the story.

The story is also a little bit of a mystery, also, a who-done-it thread throughout the story.

This is a light, easy read. It did not take long to finish the book and as in every good book, it wound up all the essentials but left you wanting more.

I recommend this book if you are looking for a book that shows how Christians should live without being preachy.

Vet tech Marigold wants to start a dog rescue and finds her first client in drainage ditch. But along with finding the little guy to be a purebred under all the muck she also seems to have found a load of trouble at the clinic where she works. Vandalism, threats of lawsuits, an angry threatening neighbor and a stalker ex all enter the picture. Trouble seems to be coming from all directions, so Mari takes it upon herself to help her friend stay safe, find homes for her needy pups, all while trying to help her dreamy boss save the clinic from attack.

This was a sweet story of a grieving daughter who just wants to follow her dreams. I found her to be a bit of a scatterbrain, but with a heart of gold.
There is an thread of Christian values throughout the story with many mentions of trusting in God's plan and giving up your fears and worries to him. I found many of the characters endearing (loved Grandma Peach) and loved that some of the 'villains' were redeemed by the conclusion. I would definitely continue this series in the future.

I gave this book 4 Stars on good reads

I received this book free from #neygalley for a fair and honest review.

Off the Chain begins Janice Thompson’s Gone to the Dogs series. I adored this fun and entertaining little mystery. I loved the duo Marigold and Parker as a team. Of course, the delightfully cute pups was a great addition. There are a few twists and turns that kept me reading. The story includes some good life lessons that we could learn from. I found this to be was a great tale to spend a rainy and cool afternoon.

Off the Chain will be getting a very well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean cozy mysteries. I look forward the next installment from the Gone to the Dogs series.

I received a digital copy of Off the Chain from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

I didn't find this at all believable in the world of rescue. The main character has no idea what she is doing and proceeds like a teenager with a school project
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this arc

If you are looking for a cozy mystery that involves dogs, this may be your cup of tea. If I'm honest, it wasn't mine - but that doesn't mean that you won't enjoy it. I didn't relate to the characters and the beginnning scene didn't draw me in and grab me like I would have wanted.

Do form your own opinion though, you may find that you relate better to it especially if you are from the south and understand the culture better than I do. I got this free in exchange for an honest review.

This cozy mystery is the first in what could be a cute series. There were some parts that lagged, but I did like Mari. It was a cute story, but there wasn't as much action or mystery as I expected. In fact, the mystery almost seemed to be an afterthought.

This book is a very simple cozy mystery. There are a few parts that lag, the main character is a bit clumsy, but she does have the potential to become a really good, solid protagonist.
The story is cute, Mari wants to open a dog rescue but she seems to get herself in some odd situations.
I think there’s a possibility that this could become a fun series.

This book was provided by Netgally and Barbour Publishing for an honest review. All of the thoughts and opinions are my own.

I gave it a good college try. I swear. But there is just something so unappealing about making your female main character so incompetent and "accident" prone that is meant to be quirky but comes off in such a way that you end up asking yourself :HOW IS SHE ALIVE? The rest of the characters treat her as if she is a lost toddler and she simply takes it.
This trope can be done well and I have seen it happen but this time around it was a failure.
Her inner thoughts are just absolutely grating on the nerves and all of the characters except for ONE friend, but even she might turn on her when she realizes that her crush has a crush on the main character, are so condescending to her.

As a devoted lover of cozy murder mystery books and amateur sleuths it actually pains me to say I need to give up on this book.

Cute cozy mystery with a twist of romance.

This was a cute, fun cozy mystery. It also had some romance. I love when romance is included in cozy mysteries. I look forward to reading more in the series.

Mari Evans has her heart set on starting a dog rescue and the story opens with her rescuing a pup from a drainage pipe, almost being arrested and having her place of business being broken into. But who would break into the veterinarian's office and cause so much damage? Mari and the work team try to get back to business, but with several people they suspect, it’s hard to get past the event when they’re still dealing with several of these people on a daily basis. How can you judge when you really don’t have the whole story?

While this was a decent read, and I loved Beau, it was a little too boring for me. I’m not really sure it’s a mystery so much as women’s/christian fiction. I have no problem with anyone’s faith being reflected in a book, but you’ll gain more readers and witness to more people if you would tone it down a little. Cute, but I doubt I’ll be back for more.

I was a little confused who the target audience was for this book. Based on the cover, I assumed it was for children but was surprised when I met the characters. Once I got over my surprise, it was a cute light-hearted story. An easy read filled with cute, quirky characters. The story was fun and silly. I did enjoy, it just wasn't what I expected from the cover.

In this first book in this new series, we meet Marigold attempting to rescue a dog. At the beginning to the book, Marigold and her friend seemed rather silly. That got better at the book progressed. The characters were well constructed and and improved as the book contined. I did feel that the book seemed to spend the majority of time talking about how Marigold was trying to set up her dog rescue. I wondered where the mystery was. By the last few pages it seemed as if the author finally remembered that there was supposed to be a mystery and it had to be solved.

Cute start to a new cozy mystery series. There is a nice blend of depth and humor in the pages.

Mari is a vet tech in Brenham (home of Blue Bell ice cream), Texas. She has a dream to start a non-profit with a focus on rescuing dogs. The trouble is there are so many details she hasn't worked out yet.

Her vet clinic is vandalized and the mystery is figuring out who was behind the crime. Lots of potential suspects. I figured out the villain before the reveal, but it was still a fun journey.

Love Mari's grandmother. She's a riot.

Look forward to continuing the series.

I feel everyone deserves this cute, little mystery read. Yes, more for the cuteness and the cute characters. And happy news! This is Book 1. Yep ✔️

Hello, Netflix. Can you hear me? This needs an adaptation!

It's so cute and well done! A story of two youngsters trying to rescue strays but also in quite a dilemma as to solve why their vet clinic has been attacked.

I fell in love with the characters and their interactions. It's the dialogues and the fun way the story is written! Works so well. You know I have just discovered a favourite author!

The writing is so good. You will smile throughout the book, more specially towards the end. Oh, I just cannot handle the cuteness there...

Of course, I feel so lucky to have the advance review copy from Barbour Publishing.

I love the cover and everything about this book!

Off the Chain was very cute. It starts off super funny, a girl is crawling in a sewer pipe to rescue a dog. Her name is Marigold(Mari), a vet tech with dreams of opening a sort of volunteer foster rescue ranch. She's in love with her boss Tyler but the real man in this book is her co-worker Parker. He amazed me so many times. I also loved the dogs in this book and the plot line behind who burglarized the pet store. I knew this was shelved under Christian, which I don't like reading, but had to request it because I love King Charles Cocker Spaniels. I could've done without all the mentions of god and the Bible. I'd recommend if you like dogs and Christian books.
