A solid continuation to an interesting middle grade series; pairs well with the rest of the Riordan Presents collection as well as Zachary Yang and the Dragon Emperor.

Good story about friendship and the lengths people will go to to save a family member. The narrator was good and the story moved quickly.

Can't say. I keep running out of time on your app to listen to the book. I didn't get a chance to hear it so I can't really comment except to say how much I don't like this Netgalley app.

Saving the world has come at a hefty price for Riley. Half of her clan, including her friend, Emmett don’t remember her. Her newly discovered divine heritage didn’t come with magical powers. After witches, mad at her for killing the Cave Bear Goddess, curse her clan it’s up to Riley to restore everyone’s magic and break it. To do so, she’ll have to break into the Spirit Realm, get past the levels of hell, and find her way back into the land of the living. Will she succeed? Will she heal the rift she caused?

Narrator, Suzy Yeung is engaging and does a great job of bringing to life the well-developed characters. She does a great job of bringing to life the descriptions and events of the Spirit Realm. Her narrative style complements well the author’s writing style. The plot is well-written and magical. Fans of Rick Riordan, mythology, and adventure will want to pick this one up.

If you enjoyed Suzie Yeung's performance with the previous audiobook, you will enjoy this one as well.

Review for the Book:
I eagerly anticipated this book after being completely thrilled with the first, The Last Fallen Star. Graci Kim has done a great job of weaving Korean folklore within modern day moments. The story picks up a few months after the first book, a time in which Riley is still experiencing the highs of her success, but also the angst and effects of what those decisions meant for her future. Spurned by a this-could-work idea, she begins another adventure in an effort to change the current situation.

I thoroughly enjoyed the change of scenery from real-world to spirit-world, which includes a cast of new quirky characters. I appreciated the emotional turmoil Riley works through, especially in that going back to normal is difficult - and grapples with is it even worth it. Again, with the ending, Graci Kim has set the stage for a great third book.

The Last Fallen Moon is a sequel to The Last Fallen Star, which is a part of the Rick Riordan Presents imprint. I have read many of the books from this imprint and have not been disappointed in any of them. I love that they tell stories from different cultures’ folklores. This series is about Korean mythology.

I’m always nervous about reading sequels to stories when it has been a while since I read the first one. Graci Kim does an amazing job of interspersing just enough background knowledge at the appropriate times so I never felt lost.

I received an advanced digital audiobook from the publisher and NetGalley. I really liked being able to hear the pronunciation of the names and Korean terminology. However, I am also a very visual person, so I did get confused at times because I couldn’t always remember who was who without having the written form in front of me. I feel like the best way for me to enjoy any of the RRP books is to have BOTH the print copy and the audiobook. That way, you can read with your ears and follow with your eyes. It was also easy to get distracted and let my mind wander when I was listening to the story, and I had to backtrack a few times. That is more a problem with my learning style vs a problem with the story itself.

I really loved this sequel. I loved seeing thse characters again and loved the progression of this read. I also really enjoyed how different this book was the first book. This book was took a deepr look at the korean underworld. I also loved again a sister-focused advnture. This book also did a fun way of exploting this harder topic in a fun way with modern twist that is easier for audiences to follow. I also loved the framwork of this story in the quest elment at the heart of this read. I also really enojed the new set of characters we meet! The only downside to this read was i missed the side characters we meet in book 1 and am so excited to see how this book wraps up in book 3!!

A really good book! I listened to this as an audiobook at NetGalley. It’s actually the second book of The Gifted Clans trilogy. I haven’t read the first book but it didn’t matter much because every time the book references the first book, it will give a brief explanation or history so you won’t get lost. It combines the modern world and Korean mythology which I haven’t really read about before, although it is quite similar to Greek myth in some ways. It was exciting and the narrator gave life to the characters in a way where it feels like you’re watching a film rather than listening to an audiobook. I honestly didn’t notice time while listening to this because it really is interesting to me. The ending was good too, it opens the idea of how the third book would unfold but the author was careful enough not to leave the ending a cliffhanger. It was full of magical creatures too so if that’s your cup of tea, consider this a recommendation. Definitely one of my new favourites!

This is still available on NetGalley until the 28th of June and when I requested it, it became available to me the following morning so if you want to give this a listen, do so quickly!

I'm a big fan of Graci Kim's first book The Last Fallen Star, and this sequel did not disappoint! Riley Oh saved her sister Hattie in the first book, but Hattie continues to fall into longer and longer sleeps, and the rest of her family has lost all memory of Riley. Now that the whole Gom clan has lost their powers and her family is being targeted by angry witches, Riley comes up with a scheme to restore her clan's powers and her sister's health. The problem is, she will have to travel to the Spiritrealm.
I always just want to give Riley a hug - instead of feeling proud of what she has done, she feels so much guilt. She acts selflessly to help others, and her kindness is returned to her. I loved that Hattie got to be a bigger part of this story. Riley also meets Dahl, a heaven-born boy who is mysteriously linked to her.
This sequel was just as exciting as the first, with new and interesting characters and monsters, endearing creatures, and a twisty plot!

The narrator was great for this. I honestly enjoyed her narration a little more than the actual plot of the book.

This is a wonderful series that Graci Kim has created using inspiration from Korean mythology, but also from pop culture and modern technology. Riley Oh is a flawed, interesting, realistic middle school-aged orphan who just wants to feel like she is truly home/part of a family. Her adopted sister Hattie is also one of her best friends, but after the events of the first book, Hattie is not doing great, health-wise, and she's also the only one who actually remembers who Riley is. As you can imagine, Riley starts questioning everything she did and kind of beats herself up over it, no matter what anyone says, and even though she acknowledges that she may have saved the world, she feels that she just didn't do enough and as a result, everything is messed up. It doesn't help that the majority of the Gom clan (healers) blame her for the loss of their powers, so even though it might seem that Riley is just being self-absorbed about her role in all this, it's completely understandable considering how many people (including many adults who should know better) are blaming her. In this book, Riley heads for the Spirit Realm to try setting things right. The people and creatures she meets are highly imaginative and fun and I found myself laughing out loud more than a few times as I pictured what she was seeing and experiencing. Without revealing specific spoilers, I will say that Riley started out trying to solve it all on her own, despite her friends and family trying to tell her they were with her all the way, and with all her experiences, she realizes that she perhaps didn't make the best choice. I loved the imaginative story, the Korean mythology, the Korean snack foods (yum!), the lessons learned, the humor, and the love. While there is much that is resolved in this book, the ending sets you up perfectly for the third book. I hope this ends up being a trilogy because it's already going to be a long wait since this second book is just coming out. I'm not sure I can wait a couple of years for a fourth or fifth book, lol!

I listened to and read this book simultaneously and I thought Suzi Leung did an excellent job. While Suzi doesn't change the voices much for different characters, somehow I never found it difficult to follow who was saying what. This is perhaps because the story is being told as if Riley is telling the story. So the voices change just enough to sound like Riley is doing everyone else's voices if that makes sense. Regardless, I enjoyed the narration and think it would work both as a pure audiobook and for struggling readers to read along with the narration.

Overall, if you enjoyed the first book, you probably enjoy reading this just as much. These books should definitely be read in order, although there is enough summary of the previous book to bring you up to speed if you happen to run across this book first.

I received an advance review copy from NetGalley for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Advanced Reader’s Copy provided by NetGalley, Disney Publishing Worldwide, and Rick Riordan Presents in exchange for an honest review.

Riley Oh may have succeeded in bringing her sister Hattie back, but it came at a price. Now she's determined to go into the Spiritrealm to find a new patron to restore her clan's power. In doing so, she ends up working with a boy with bright white hair and facing off against some powerful names in the Spiritrealm.

While this second book in the Gifted Clans series is setting up how the series will end, there is a lot that happens in THE LAST FALLEN MOON that builds on the first book and adds another layer to Riley's story.

An author's note at the end of the novel provides readers with more background knowledge and understanding on Korean beliefs about the afterlife and what happens when a person dies.

Suzie Yeung does a great job with the audiobook narration.

Thank you to Disney Audiobooks and NetGalley for the advanced electronic audio review copy of this awesome book! This is book 2 in the series and was initially somewhat confusing due to the rebranding of spirit realm. While I prefer classic legends of book one, I still enjoyed Riley’s adventures in book 2 and am already looking forward to more adventures in the conclusion, published next year. I’m very excited to share this book with my upper elementary students.
