I loved this children's book, which has beautiful photographs and easy to read text, which show a family leaving their old home and moving to their new home. It shows the family packing up their belongings, and it explains how all the items travel to the new house to be unpacked. At the end of the book, there is a reading reinforcement section and a word list, which are very useful. This is a great book, which I recommend highly.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Perfect for kids experiencing the joy and sadness that comes with leaving an old home for a new one. With real photographs, this book will help kids see all the things that happen when we move houses, and find that although we miss our old place, our new neighborhood has a lot to offer.

This title is part of a series for beginning readers. They will be pleased with their ability to read this one. There are helpful resources for adults and word lists at the back if a reader needs help.

This title clearly explains what it is like to move house. The photos that accompany the text show what the moving process looks like.

Note: I am a volunteer reading tutor. I can see the kids I work with using this title.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Norwood House Press for this title. All opinions are my own.

Fast read good illustrations. There are interesting activities at the end of the book. Personally I would not pay the asking price for this book however I do not have kids.

Moving to a new home can be stressful but it also can be an exciting time. A time of learning and adventure. A young readers book that not only prepares you for moving but helps with new words and word structure. It builds foundational reading skills while learning valuable life skills.

A special thank you to Norwood House Press and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

A New Home is a great interesting little book for children explaining the process of moving house and what to expect. The book has read photographs of what happens and is told in a positive way for children and made to look fun and an adventure. This would be a great book for children confused about moving and who worry about things.
At the back of the book there is reading enforcement for the adult sharing the story with the child to read and engage with with the child. This includes learning content words and vocabulary, multisyllabic words, close reading of information text, fluency and word lists divided into high frequency words and content words.
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

This book is about moving to a new house. It is a beginning reader that uses simple sentence structures, decodable text and sight words to tell a story that young readers will be able to comprehend and follow. The pictures are real photographs (realia) and match the text well. This is especially helpful when teaching young readers the strategy of looking at the picture. It is also helpful for children learning English as an additional language. At the end of the book are some guiding questions and word lists to help teach reading at home and at school. I would recommend this book for teachers and families looking for simple texts to support young readers who are learning to read with increasing independence. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this text.

Short, Simple and Sweet are the best words to describe 'A New Home' by Mary Lindeen...this is a wonderfully compact book about what it means to MOVE (and that it doesn't have to be something to fear).

From the first boxing up of all the things, to the end where they'll make new friends and explore a new home this is the perfect book to SHOW what moving is all about- and that it won't be a bad thing and will be exciting and full of adventure.

The pictures are real photographs, and they're cute and fun- showing other kids being involved in the process (and happy about it too!). I loved that it was ethnically and racially diverse.
Moving was always scary for me when I was younger, especially if I had to leave friends and a school I loved...PLUS my room where I had memories. I do wish I had had a book like this back then to help calm my little nerves!

BONUS- the end of the book is packed with exclusive skill building to enhance: reading comprehension (close reading, understanding), learning content multisyllabic and high frequency words AND a complete list and description of their importance. Excellent book for a few different purposes!

A cute little book full of realistic photographs showing a family moving from their old home to a new home. The brief text illustrates important steps in the move, from boxing up belongings to unloading and unpacking in the new home. This book touches on the mixed feelings kids (and adults!) may have when leaving one home for a new one, and reminds the reader that while it's ok to miss your old home, there are many things to look forward to, like meeting new neighbors and exploring new neighborhood places. Bonus points for showing a diverse array of people!
