The Kiss Curse was a delightful sequel to the Ex Hex. I absolutely adored the one-sided enemies to rivals to lovers to friendly lovers of Gwyn and Wells and I would happily read a million stories about them mentoring the three baby witches that Gwyn had taken under her wing. I loved the casual inclusion of Gwyn’s bisexuality and how it was never an issue that needed to be solved, just a part of who she was.

If you are looking for a spicy, funny, witchy romance to prepare for spooky season, add The Kiss Curse to your TBR. Otherwise you’ll make Sir Purrcival sad.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for the eARC! All thoughts on this fun and quirky romp are my own!

I recently read The Ex Hex, the first book in this series, and loved it so I was very excited to find out there was going to be a sequel. Let me tell you, when it comes to sequels, this is how you write them! I actually think I enjoyed this one more than the original even!

I loved that this book focused on one of the side characters from the original story, Gwyn. She is fiercely independent, not afraid to speak her mind and is very compassionate towards people (even if she doesn’t like to admit that). When we are introduced to her “enemy”, Wells, their chemistry jumps off the page with their playful banter and flirting. You can’t help but to love them together.

This book is filled with spooky settings, colorful characters, and fun dialogue that is sure to leaving you laughing out loud. You don’t need to have read the first book (but I highly recommend you do) to enjoy this as it’s great on its own! Be sure to read this book when it’s out in September!

Thank you Avon Books and Harper Voyager for letting me read this advanced copy and Erin Sterling for bringing us more of this magically delightful story!

A great return to Graves Glen and the Penhallows! I'm not much of a series fan, but I was delighted to read this sequel! Gwen is lovely, the baby witches were more than charming and as usual, the dialogue, pacing, and chemistry was off the charts! A wonderful read!

The sequel to The Ex Hex follows Vivi’s cousin Gwyn and Rhys’ brother Wells. This book felt like it had slightly less witch-y hijinks than the first but it was just as cute. I’m so obsessed with the Autumnal setting and I wish I could live in this town and run my own little shop! The spiciest scene was excellent and the cute scenes squeezed my heart in the very best way. I’m excited to see if Sterling does a third book for the third brother

I read The Ex Hex and enjoyed it last Halloween but I am OBSESSED with The Kiss Curse! Gwen and Wells gave the perfect enemies-to-lovers romance that was funny, steamy, and the perfect amount of witchy Halloween charm.

First off, I loved Gwen in the first book and was so glad to hear that Sterling decided to write her a love story too! The characters were so perfectly snarky to each other and I found myself often laughing out loud at the shenanigans they got themselves into.

Personally, I found this book steamier than the first one and I loved it! There was a mystery aspect to it as well that normally feels forced to me in some romance books - but this one made it come into the story naturally and added that small bit of anticipation to the story.

Easily this book earned a 5-star rating from me and I adored the characters!

Gwyn Jones is the owner of a small business that sells witchcraft-related products in Graves Glen, Georgia. Wells Penhallow is a Welshman and descendant of some powerful witches who used to overlook Graves Glen. Wells moves to town and sets up a rival shop across the street, ensuring the anger and competition of fellow witch Gwyn. Though he doesn’t realize it at first, the two are actually former schoolyard enemies from their time at the local witch college. Wells and Gwyn fight their attraction and the growing threat of evil witches sucking magic from the town.

This book is a perfect example of enemies to lover, grumpy x sunshine trope! I love how buttoned-up Wells is and how free-loving Gwyn keeps him on his toes. While in the “enemies” stage, she nicknames him “Esquire,” which quickly becomes an adorable, teasing remark once they realize their attraction for each other (with the help of a little accidental love spell). There is the perfect balance of relationship-building along with a side plot of mystery surrounding some blood magic happening in town. Wells and Gwyn are forced to work together to uncover who is practicing dark magic and draining Gwyn’s power. The side characters are fabulous as well - I want my very own group of baby witches! Overall, a very cute read with fun characters, chemistry, and light mystery.

Okay, so listen... I was OBSESSED with the Ex Hex last year. Vivi and Rhys gave me so much life and I loved reading about Gwyn, so when I found out this book was about Gwyn I HAD to have it.

I hate that I'm even saying this (but not really, cuz wow) but this one was even better than the Ex Hex to me. It starts as enemies to lovers when "Equire", "Wells" Penhallow comes to Graves Glenn and arrives home right in the middle of an unannounced to him bachelorette party in his family home and face to face with Gwyn, who makes it known right away she hates him. The only issue is Wells has no idea why. They start an immediate feud of sorts and it just takes off from.

This one was so funny and the enemies to lovers was real here. I cannot wait to add this to my collection on release day because its just perfect for fall. The perfect comfy fall rom com.

The Kiss Curse is the follow up to The Ex Hex, and centers on Gwyn, Vivi's cousin, and Wells (Llewellyn), Rhys' older brother.

Overall, I'm rating this one 3.5 stars rounded up. Gwyn and Wells have chemistry and the romance element is pleasant but their enemy to lovers back story is weak at best and the "bad guy" sub plot felt half done and slapdash. Also, it bugged me how much Gwyn harped on Wells for having a large and well used vocabulary.

All that said, I enjoyed the book and am glad I received an advanced copy. It was pleasant and would be a nice read in the fall to get in the Halloween mood. I will certainly pick up a sequel, and I'm hoping it will center on Bowen, the lady Penhallow brother.

Thank you to Avon Books and NetGalley for the electronic ARC of this novel for review.

I thought this was an extremely cute book. Given I haven’t read book 1, The Ex Hex, I can happily say you can enjoy this one without reading the first because the premise of book 1 is touched on. Since I liked this one, I will go back to read book 1 to see if I missed anything.

I really liked Gwyn and Wells as characters, however, I wish we got to know them and their connection a little better. They did have solid personalities and I liked their dynamic. As for the plot, it had a great start but I think it slowed down a smidge much in the middle and then things were rushed towards the end. I don’t know if there needed to be more conflict or investigative work in the middle to really amp up the climax of the story or something else.

The 3 Baby Witches, as Gwyn calls them, were probably my favorites in this story and I hope to see more of them in the future.

I received an eARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

The second book in Ex-Hex series follows Gwen as she is thrown together with Wells Penhallow when he moves to town unexpectedly.

Gwen was great as a side character in the first book and I found her just as charming and lively as the protagonist. It took me a little to warm up to Wells but their banter drew me in. They had some lightly spicy scenes and solid chemistry.

Overall, thoroughly enjoyed being back in this witchy, quirky small-town which has cozy, fall vibes.

I find that I often give four stars to romance books I love because they're not as deep and life changing as my other five-star reads, but in terms of romance novels this is perfect, so it's getting five.

The Kiss Curse follows characters from the Ex Hex, Gwyn (Viv's cousin) and Wells (Rhys' brother). It has the same fun halloween vibe as the Ex Hex and honestly follows a very similar formula as Vivi's and Rhys' love story. It addresses Gwyn's bisexuality, and has a diverse cast of characters (relative to the genre at least). As a lesbian do I wish Gwyn had ended up with a woman? A little bit. Will I get over it? Yep!

This series is so cozy, it offers the same comfort as curling up on the couch every year to watch Halloweentown. You're dropped into a familiar place and story, then given a beautiful and believable romance. The dialogue is snappy and funny, and had me laughing out loud. "...and Gwyn had no doubt that whoever he was, his ancestors had absolutely once stared down the business end of a guillotine. You didn't get cheekbones like that without oppressing some peasants." I MEAN..LMAO.

One of the best things about it, and one of the things that most often turns me off of romance, is that the sex scenes, while quite spicy by my standards, AREN'T CRINGEY!!! THANK YOU!!!

Anyways, I don't know if there's another book planned in this universe that I love so much, but I hope there is. It's impossible not to fall in love with Sterling's side characters (like the baby witches). If there is another, you'll see me here again.

Thanks so much to Avon Books and NetGalley for the digital ARC!

The second book in The Ex Hex series, The Kiss Curse, is Gwyn's story. Ever since they were in college, Gwyn has harbored a grudge against Wells Penhallow, her cousin's new brother-in-law. When he unexpectedly moves to Graves Glen and opens up a shop across the street from her own, Gwyn is forced to face him head on. Sparks fly, but there's a sinister new presence in the town that seems to be jeopardizing Gwyn's own magical abilities. This book is a great follow-up that could easily be enjoyed as a standalone novel.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I like the magical spin on contemporary romance that Erin Sterling does. It definitely separates her from the rest and adds elements we don't see in other books, because let's be honest, sometimes contemporary romances get very repetitive. With that said, I enjoyed this book quite a lot. It was a cute quick read and perfect for the upcoming fall season (my favorite!).

3.5 Stars!

It would be slightly easier to stay annoyed with her if she weren’t so damned beautiful.

Overall, The Kiss Curse was a great read. Funny and kooky and romantic, a welcomed sequel to the hugely popular The Ex Hex. In that first book, Gwyn Jones was a wonderful, vibrant side character and truly shines here as the leading lady. No wonder Mr. Wells Penhallow couldn't resist her.

The rivals-to-lovers trope was in full effect with Wells and Gwyn, as they become competing business owners in the small town of Graves Glen, Georgia, where history and tradition and magic rule. Both stubborn by nature, it was hilarious to see their romance evolve. They grew to communicate and understand each other in a way that may not necessarily be conventional, but it certainly worked for them. In fact, Wells and Gwyn's reconcilation in the final chapters had some of my favorite dialogue in the entire book.

Getting to see more of Rhys and Vivi was also nice. Similar to The Ex Hex, they were also adorable here. No surprise there.

Admittedly though, the plot was a bit thin. Since the book was very character- and romance-driven, I did keep waiting for the drama to kick into high-gear. To me, it seemed like much of conflict resolution is being saved for Bowen's book (and seemingly the last in the series). Which is fine. It just left this middle installment feeling a bit underwhelming.

Graves Glenn is like a spooky Stars Hollow that I love spending time in! This book was soooo cute and fun and perfect for fall. It was fast paced, funny and just adorable.

I liked this book more than the Ex Hex, and can’t wait for the next one in this series!

Thank you NetGalley, HarperCollins and Avon for an arc of this book!

“What girl doesn’t love a good grovel? I think I’ll even film it on my phone.”
This book was an absolute delight to read, and just flat out funny! I felt like The Kiss Curse gave me everything that The Ex Hex never did. I had such a great time reading about Gwyn and her baby witches, and Sir Purrcival has once again made me want a talking cat (what I would literally give for my own talking cat). I also felt like this book gave me a different perspective/opinion of Rhys and Vivi than when I read their book. Also, I remember saying something awhile ago about how the sequels are always my least favorite book in the series, but I completely take that back now cause I’ve been reading a lot of great sequels. (Thank you Netgalley and to Avon and Harper Voyager for this arc in exchange for an honest review.)

I read this sequel because I really enjoyed The Ex Hex, which is still the better of the two. I like Gwyn and Wells, but I wish the plot itself had been better fleshed out. The supporting characters are hilarious. I will happily read any additional books in this series.

The book started of really good, was interested in Allison's grad school assignment and life. But then her ex just happens to be in the same program, interested in studying the same line of work. And he seems endearing, but there is a big secret why he broke up with her?

Just okay for me.

this book is a follow up to The Ex-Hex, where we follow more of Gwyn’s journey. This would best be read after The Ex-Hex, but would work as a standalone as well. Gwyn and wells have family grudges so this is an enemy to lovers trope. Its obvious from the beginning these two don’t actually hate eachother. Super cute sequel, and I look foward to the next book in the series!

As always, I loved the effortless banter between all the characters. I went into this expecting a similar feel to THE EX HEX and although it felt a little slower than that one, it was still amazing. I loved Gwyns character in both books and glad we got to see how Vivi and Rhys are doing :) this book just made me feel good and it was just as funny as the first! I did think that the “conflict” in this book was kinda all over the place compared to THE EX HEX and so I was kinda lost for a bit but it made sense at the end. Loved this book! Thanks to netgalley for the gifted copy in exchange for my honest review!
