<i>A Ghost in Shining Armor</i> is the second book by Therese Beharrie I had a chance to read and the second I ended up immensely enjoying.

The book tells a story about Gemma - who some of you may recognise from <i>And They Lived Happily Ever After</i>. Gemma has an ability to see ghosts; because of that, she often helps them to finalise their unfinished businesses so they can move on to the afterlife. However, she has some things to deal with on her own too. When a handsome ghost with suspicious intentions is sent to help her wrap them up, she’s far from happy. Especially when she starts falling for him and being in love with someone dead cannot end well. Or can it?

The plot of the book was engaging and interesting; I was very excited to see how it would develop. The thread of ghosts and Gemma’s ability to see them was a nice addition to the main romantic arc. The romance itself was incredibly charming and endearing. I was rooting for Gemma and Levi from the begininng until the end.

Reading about their relationship developing and them getting to know each other was a real pleasure. Unveiling parts of themselves throughout their journey of falling in love is my favourite part of every story and Therese Beharrie made it meet all of my expections.

Another great thing about this book is the characters. They are the fundament of every story, so lliking them is a neccessity for me to enjoy it. Happily, both Gemma and Levi were very sympethetic and likeable people. I loved their humour and the way their approach different matters. Getting into the story with characters like these was a treat.

On the whole, <i>A Ghost in Shining Armor</i> was truly a lovely, gripping story, perfect for the fans of a light paranormal romance. The author created a story with genial, interesting characters and an entertaining storyline; it was really easy to get involved in it and enjoy it.

This sounded like such an adorable concept to me but I feel like parts of it didn’t make sense to me regarding logistics. Then perhaps because I was confused with some of the structure & workings, I struggled to form a super strong connection to the characters.
Some of the actions of the main character who is thirty years old just seemed immature to me so it made it feel less realistic. Then some of the interactions just in general just didn’t feel natural to me. I am happy I pushed through the middle section though because I did enjoy the ending.I felt like some of the side stories were fascinating & underutilized. I wished more time was spent on that!
I did enjoy how everything came together. I really liked some of the character growth & the importance of setting boundaries was addressed.
If you’re looking for a silly, light-hearted romance involving ghosts & can suspend belief in the specifics, then I would check out A Ghost in Shining Armor!

This is a gentle romcom (like Instructions for Dancing) with a little magical world building (thanks, Therese Beharrie) and a fabulous cast of supportive friends (LGBTQIA+ inclusive).

This is NOT really a ghost story. Okay, one character sees ghosts and one IS a ghost. But that's not really the point.

The point is, we all have our personal hangups, our reasons for not moving forward, our fears of telling our true feelings - even to those who are closest to us. Sometimes you just need someone you can trust.

And the book has a heartfelt adoption/foster care story. And a wedding.

"All these things--these stupid, silly, trivial things--mattered, and yes, brought joy."

Gemma can see ghosts. Levi is a ghost, tasked with supporting Gemma through a finding her long lost twin sister.

The world building in this book was a bit confusing and felt a little incomplete. I wasn't particularly bothered about Gemma or Levi, which meant that I found it a bit of a slog. Good ending though!

This is my first Therese Beharrie novel, and only after completing it did I realise there was another book before this one! But this reads well as a standalone novel.

There was a lot of physical chemistry between Gemma and Levi, but for all their sizzling attraction to each other, I couldn’t really feel a deeper connection between the two.

The story also felt like it got a little repetitive and draggy as it went along.

But what I really enjoyed about this book was the character growth from both Gemma and Levi.

As an adopted child, Gemma has always been a people pleaser. And I loved that at the end of the book, she manages to come to the realisation that she deserves to be loved, by others and by herself, for who she is.

Levi has always lived his life for other people, especially for his younger sister. But in the end, he learns to choose himself and his own happiness first.

Therese Beharrie’s writing is witty and humorous, and I enjoyed Gemma and Levi’s journey of self-awareness and growth. 3.75/5 stars.

I'm really enjoying this series from Therese Beharrie! Both this book and the previous one are stand-alones, but you may get more out of this one if you read the previous one. The characters interact and there are some overlapping scenes. I'm always on the look-out for romances with speculative elements and this one was really fun! I think that it is like a really interesting concept especially including the multi-verse but it was really slow and hard to get into enjoyed reading it but it didn’t keep me nonstop reading.

A Ghost in Shining Armor is a cute paranormal romcom. It sort of reminded me of A Date with the Other Side from Erin McCarthy (I loved that book years ago!). While I do wish there was a little bit more explanation about the characters and their circumstances, this was a solid read!

So, this was a typical romcom book.
What worked for me:
- the story seemed interesting
- the side characters were pretty nice. I would love to have such understanding people in my life. Who doesn't?
- mild trigger warning was appreciated

What did not work for me
-objectifying a women was mentioned in the first few chapters
- the protagonists were irritating. They just had physical chemistry, I never felt their connection go deeper than that. The guy was just like a potato, present wherever you roll him.

I had high hopes from this one, but it did not satiate my romantic heart. I quickly lost interest in the book, but had to force myself to finish it. Nevertheless, not all was bad. Just not my cup of tea.

It’s a fairly good book. If you want a light and fun read, this will be perfect for you. I felt that the only problem I had with this book was it was not explained from where did the female lead get the ability to see ghosts. Otherwise, I really liked reading it. It was a good experience.

This is a really sweet romcom!
I particularly enjoyed the supernatural element (ghosts!) It felt unique from the other romcoms we've been getting lately.
I will have to saw, do not go into this expecting a ton of spice. This is very low steam. However, do not let that deter you since I found story to be delightful and fun!
It reminded me of a grown up version of Meg Cabot's Mediator series.
Would recommend for those in the mood for a sweet, quick romcom.

This starts off with a cute concept. Gemma can see and talk to ghosts, and if she acknowledges them in public they are visible to others.

Levi, who recently died, is offered a chance to come back to life if he helps Gemma with a problem she is having. If he doesn't succeed, he will cease to exist.

So, what is the problem? It appears to be that Gemma was adopted, and her parents only adopted her, and not her twin sister, and now she has found her, the sister. But she doesn't know how to tell her she is her sister. And she is a romance writer, so she starts stacking her.

And, she also kisses Levi on a bet, so he looks solid, and human to everyone else.

And gosh darn if they dont' spend half the book or more just moaning on and on about their problems.

And it is never explained how he is still a ghost if he is solid, or what.

And we never find out much about the alternative universe he comes from, other than there is no prejudice there?

And what is the whole point?

I swear I almost put the book down as a DNF, but I felt I had gotten that far, might as well go the whole way.

I barely care about Levi.

I barely care about Gemma.

I care about her writing sister, but just enough to know that if someone stalked me, and told me they were my sister I would probably slam the door in their face too.

Sorry, can recommend this. It just takes too long to get to the point. When it does, it was a good ending, but not worth slogging through the rest of the book.

Excellent book, I really liked it.

This was so cute and not at all what I expected. It started a little slow and I needed a little more details in the beginning to truly understand what was going on because I was very confused. It was a little repetitive and I need a little more about where Levi comes from, but it's a different concept.

This has such a unique idea and I was excited to get into the whole ghosty aspect. I think that those issues of hanging out with a ghost had easy answers when they probably wouldn't have hut it was a fun book to read nonetheless.

I really was not interested in this book when I started reading it. I started the prologue and skipped to see if it got interesting in chapter one but it did not hook me. I don’t want to say it isn’t a good book but it is not for me right now.

Gemma has been seeing ghosts since her 18th birthday and has grown complacent and willing to help guide them into crossing over. Here we meet Levi who is fresh into his ghost-dom and has taken up the task to help Gemma with a problem of her own; having a relationship with her sister who wasn’t adopted with her. In being there for each other, they find their own parallels in the others problems.


We love black love and this story delivers! Gemma has golden retriever energy that I just ADORE and find her very relatable. I had a little bit of a rough time to start as each scene seemed very rushed like I was being pulled by the wrist along each beat instead of getting a chance to bask in the warmth of the characters budding love and attraction. I was also a little let down on how quickly and matter-of-fact the issue of a ghost being untouchable was solved. It almost killed the tension for the entire romance. I wanted more longing and frustration which is why I was interested in this story in the first place. However, about the halfway mark, the whirlwind slows down and the romance and love really gets a chance to shine. I’m also so happy to see Gemma really get to express her feelings and WE LOVE BOUNDARIES!

A Ghost in Shining Armor is a cute, quick romcom that is innovative and different from anything I’ve ever read in this genre. Gemma, a generally sunshiney person, learns she has a twin sister that her parents chose not to adopt with her, and now she must handle the emotional turmoil of being angry with her parents (an unfamiliar emotion) and wanting a relationship with her still-a-stranger sister. Another thing to know about Gemma? She sees ghosts and guides them to their afterlife. She might be just a little stressed.

Levi is a newly minted ghost. He isn’t the kind of ghost who Gemma normally sees - Levi is on a mission to help Gemma with her sister so that he can go back to his life with his own family. He definitely does not expect to fall in love with his charge.

This book was cute, if a little bit repetitive. Gemma has many (many) intrusive sexy thoughts about Levi and constantly has to chide herself for them. I appreciated the dual POV; I think I honestly liked reading from Levi’s POV more than from Gemma’s. Gemma is just so stymied by her insecurity (which is completely valid but still hard to read in some places) that there were times where I was just hoping Levi would jump in and save her from herself.

I would have LOVED more info on this apparent multiverse that Levi comes from? I think it was glossed over that he literally comes from a different reality. Such a cool concept that I would have loved to explore more.

Solid 3 out of 5 stars. I wish more of the romance and conflict were on page instead of spoken about in bits and pieces and a little retrospect, but it was an enjoyable quick read to cure any book hangover.
