In this holiday feel-good romance, Emily is ski royalty in the little Colorado town where her parents and grandparents owned a ski resort where they hope she will take over some day. As an elite ski instructor, she has been enlisted to teach a dream actor, Zach, how to ski the treacherous slope in preparation for a role in a movie being filmed there. What Zach doesn’t know and Emily keeps secrets is that she has idolized him forever. Although it is blizzard conditions, it gets pretty hot between Emily and Zach as their relationship heats up, much to the chagrin of Emily’s best friend Kylie who is obsessed with him. Zach does his best to convince Emily that he is just a normal guy and they are meant to be together. Although a Christmas story, it really takes place around Thanksgiving. It’s a very family-oriented story although I found the love story between Emily and Zach was a bit too saccharin, not enough sizzle, and too much dialogue. The characters are likeable except that they are supposed to be 29 but act as if they were in high school, not a lot of adulting or what you would expect of well-educated independent women. This was frustrating. This is a fast read but not really memorable, but it is a good clean holiday story.
Many thanks to #netgalley #fernmichael #fallingstars #kensingtonbooks for the opportunity to read and review this book.

A very enjoyable Christmas story. It covers all the right topics - family relationships, business hardships, romance and a touch of Hollywood thrown in for good measure.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC.

Emily loves her job as a ski instructor at her parents’ resort, but she longs for something more. However, any plans she might have had get sidelined when her parents drop the bombshell that they’re retiring and turning the business over to her to run, without any advance notice. While reeling from this news, Emily gets tasked with training Zach Ryder to ski. Zach is an actor, and Emily has a secret stash of his movies that she doesn’t want anyone to know about. The more time Emily and Zach spend together, the more they start to develop feelings for one another. If word gets out, though, a couple of people would be very unhappy. Emily’s mother, for one, who doesn’t approve of those “movie people”, and Emily’s friend, Kylie, who thinks she’s in love with Zach and would be heartbroken.

This was a fun read with a wonderful winter location, great characters, family dynamics, surprises, and a couple of HEAs.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This didn't feel like a Fern Michaels book to me; it didn't have the same "kick" she usually delivers. Perhaps if I'd actually read it at Christmastime as a holiday book, I would have felt differently, but it seemed like a quick and easily written romance story.

It takes place at a huge and very successful ski lodge in Colorado where the heroine is one of the best instructors anywhere. A movie company comes in to film, and, of course, Emily is selected to coach the drop-dead-gorgeous star of the show. You can figure out the rest from here.

(Nevertheless, grateful to NetGalley for the early read!)

A very pleasant story with two families plus extras and their relationships, past history and romance set around a ski resort

Falling Stars by Fern Michaels was another favorite. Emily’s family runs a ski resort that has been passed down generations. Her parents are ready to retire and want to pass it on to Emily. She is not sure what she wants to do since finishing college, but taking over the ski lodge was not what she wanted to do. She agrees to take on more responsibility for a year and see how she feels. Emily meets Zach, one of Emily’s’ favorite actors. She is hired to help him with a dangerous ski slope for his up coming movie. Emily is al little star struck, but she agrees to do it. Zach is not what she expected and fall in love.

This was such a feel good, fun, romantic story. A few things that were not expected with the extended family. Things all come together in the end. I really enjoy getting the recipes at the end of the book.

Thank you NetGalley, Kensington Books for the opportunity to give my honest review.

Such a wonderful, feel-good romance just in time for Christmas. No matter the genre, the master storyteller, Fern Michaels, always creates a book you can't put down. This one is no different. Far from the Hollywood lights, Zach enlists Emily's help to perfect his skiing skills but gets so much more. Emily is perfectly fine being single (not that her mother hasn't done her best to correct that character flaw). Zach's easy going, so far from Hollywood, personality just might make her rethink her single status. Throw in some extended family drama and you have the perfect holiday romance just in time for a warm fire and hot chocolate weather. Snuggle up, settle in and enjoy!

Things don't go as planned in the sweet holiday story. lots of snow, laughter, secrets, and more! Skiing and sexy men are plentiful as well as some family drama and laughter.

The book was fair. Kylie got on my nerves. Her actions and her speech were ridiculous as old as she is.

Falling Stars by Fern Michaels
Story follows Emily and she’s been helping out at the family ski resort, finished with college and loves her job of ski instructor.
Her parents announce they are retiring and turning it all over to her. She had other plans but the parents don't retire right away, she needs to learn the ropes.
She has another assignment-instructing an actor to go down a really dangerous slope for his movie. She knows who he is, has all his movies and they get to talking to one another.
They find out a lot of information about each other. Zach is just a regular guy and she learns that when her and her best friend Kylie attend Thanksgiving dinner at his location with his brother and father.
They have such loving moments, memories you will remember a lifetime. Love all the food mentioned in this book and how yummy it all sounds, there are recipes at the end and I’ve got ingredients out for cookies.
Love hearing about the jobs her and others do in this book, fascinating to understand them better.
Like hearing about all the different lives of those in the family, the secrets, Handful of characters and easy to keep track of who is who.
Cute story. Love ending how the whole family comes together.
I received this review book from The Kensington Books via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

Delightful from beginning to end with some of the dare I say, cutest, down to earth characters I’ve ever met. And I think that was the goal of Fern Michaels. FALLING STARS is about living life to the fullest and at the same time no taking yourself quite so seriously. Celebrities seem to bask in their own limelight, larger than life. But in FALLING STARS we get to meet an actor whose star status is alive and well. In real life, off the big screen, he is firmly entrenched and is very well grounded.
So we are in Colorado at one of several ski resorts. Emily has won the honor of being recognized as a force to reckon with on a ski slope, no matter how difficult. So as a filming company sets down in a neighboring ski place, Emily is somewhat surprised that they have contacted her to make sure that their leading actor can safely maneuver her families famous slope called the Plunge. After all it is no secret that her mother does not like working with movie folk. In fact she speaks of them with distain.
However Emily’s dad sees this as an opportunity to garner some excellent spotlight on their ski resort. And he has complete confidence that Emily can make the actor look good while making sure he follows her example. Unbeknownst to anyone, Emily has seen all the actors action films and secretly thinks he is dream worthy. No bodies business. And don’t lots of women have actors that they swoon over.
Interesting though that Emily is not the swooning kind. And she doesn’t see herself being the target of any attention. Until she meets Zach Ryker up-close and personal. Zach doesn’t seem to be anything like his on-screen personality Gunner West, CIA operative.
And here’s where it gets interesting and fun. Emily is convinced that this attention is an aberration and in determined to keep a level head. Working with Zach should be just fine if she doesn’t let her heart get in the way. She is determined to keep him unaware that she is one of his many fans.
Let the games begin.
I’ve read several stories penned by Fern Michaels and candidly love her style. FALLING STARS gives us a look into managing a normal life while earning money, fans, and fame as a movie star. Best part of FALLING STARS is meeting some especially normal, funny, and caring characters. Looking for a truly enjoyable summer read, even though the story is set in December, look no further than FALLING STARS by Fern Michaels.

This is a great book. The two main characters are Emily and Zach. Emily works for her family’s ski resort and Zach is a movie star. Zach is in town to make a movie and he needs help with a scene in the movie. Everybody in town says he needs to get Emily to help him. There is an instant attraction. Emily agrees to help him. They each have issues but together they overcome them and fall in love.

I have always been a fan of Fern Michaels and she has done it again. This is a sweet romance set on a ski resort in the mountains of Colorado at Christmas time. Emily’s family run the resort and she is the ski instructor who is assigned the task of training a movie star to ski down the Plunge, which is the hardest slop they have. This is to be part of an action movie to be filmed there. Everyone is in awe of the famous star in their midst even Emily who secretly has watched all his movies several times. She is determined to be professional and not be swept away by him. Can she do that? This is a great family story with strong friendships and an adorable cat. It has it all and is a book that you will be so happy you have selected to read as the holidays approach. If I could change anything I would wish that Emily and her friend showed a little more maturity. At almost 30 I think they are described more as teenagers. But, that said, I really enjoyed this sweet, simple story. I highly recommend it. I look forward to trying the recipes.

Emily Ammerman is 29 and one of the best ski instructors in Colorado. She loves her family ski resort where she grew up and works. When Hollywood shows up to film scenes for a new movie Emily is hired to train Zach Ryker (39) for the skiing scenes. Zach is her favorite actor and stars in a popular CIA movie series. She fan-girls when she first meets him telling him a lie or two but soon they are smitten with new attraction. Turns out Zach is a down to earth nice guy from Wyoming.

This is sweet and easy romance with no big drama. The characters are likable and both have a great sense of family. It is promoted as a holiday romance and it takes place during winter covering Thanksgiving through Christmas. The biggest downside for me Emily and her BFF Kylie are written like immature 19 years olds and don’t behave like adult women. Emily has an MBA but doesn’t know if you can buy ingredients for baking at a grocery store. Kylie pouts because she called dibs on Zach when they’d never met him. Even though the author gives everyone some back ground nothing is developed in depth. I’ve no idea why Emily has to discover her father’s estranged family. It is filler and isn’t necessary to the story or the romance.

Fern Michaels is 89 and I’m assuming she is still the person writing her novels. (I couldn’t find anything online to suggest otherwise.) This is a clean, feel good, holiday romance. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Emily is a talented skier, having grown up on the mountain of her family's ski resort. When she is suddenly gifted the resort upon her parent's retirement, she is at a loss for how she feels. An opportunity arises for her to help prepare an actor to ski a difficult slope. But no one could have predicted the instant attraction between the two.
This was a cute story, had some fun moments. I would have liked a little more in depth about the characters, felt like it was all very surface and simple. But, overall a great, feel good romance.

Emily isn't quite ready to take over the management of her parent's ski resort at Snowdrift Summit, Colorado.

She wants to experience life first without too much responsibility..When she meets film star Zach Rider, her

wish starts to come true. This is a lovely book mixing skiing, business, and romance, a captivating

combination. It is uplifting and emotional while realistic. I was very happy reading this story.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this. Emily is excited about the winter season. Her family has owned a lodge in Colorado for decades. She loves the outdoors and is a good skier. She meets Zach who wants her to teach him how to ski. This book was a delightful holiday read.

Fern Michaels has hit it out of the park with this book. Such a good read. Had me from the first page to the last. I could not lay it down. I love the characters. Emily, Kylie, and Zach are such great characters. Love the budding romance of Emily and Zach. The friendship of Emily and Kylie is heartwarming. Masons secret is a tear jerker. Love, love, love this story. I give it a five star plus.

My first holiday book of the year. This one is the perfect holiday read. You have a beautiful setting, Snowdrift Summit ski resort, lovely people, and romance. Emily's family has owned Snowdrift Summit for several generations and her parents are ready to pass it on to her. She really enjoys her job as a ski instructor at the resort. Does she really want to disappoint her parents and turn down their offer? Maybe, maybe not. Also, there is a movie crew in town to film the latest Zach Ryker action picture. Zach is the most handsome man on earth. And he wants her to teach him to ski the Plunge for his new movie! Turns out Zach may be handsome but he is also a good person that avoids the limelight. Could there be some sparks? Did I mention that Emily's bff, Kylie, has a huge crush on Zach? Can this end well for their friendship? Lots of questions that you will have to read to see if there are happy endings for our new friends. I hope we get another chapter in these characters stories.

Let me start of by saying, I'm a fan of the author's previous novels but couldn't connect with this story. While filled with quirky characters, I felt like the plot stayed surface level instead of delving deeper into the characters' lives.. Positioned as Christmas story, there were elements but not enough cheer to be classified as a holiday romance.

While the characters dealt with fame, backstabbing friendships and are struggling to push beyond parents' expectations, everything felt tied up too quickly to be true.. If you're seeking a light-hearted romance, its a good book to curl up with on the couch, That being said, for those readers that want to connect with the story and its characters, I feel the story didn't quite crack the surface.
