This was a great mystery. The narrative is well done and engaging, as is the subject matter. Well done.

I loved this slow-building page turner. Not an action-packed thrill ride, though there is action and considerable suspense, just a well told story.

Eighty-four-year old Dr. Noah Grady tells an unseen interviewer about mysterious goings on in Amoret, Texas back in 1982 when a rich, arrogant outsider disappeared and long kept secrets came to light. A time in Grady's life when he began to understand that the world he knew was beginning to change and not necessarily for the better.

Told in a folksy, down-to-earth style that really brings the character (and events) to life. It's like sitting back on the porch on a lazy summer afternoon and listening to the bittersweet memories of one of the last survivors of a past generation. Really good stuff!

*There is some strong language, adult situations, and severe acts of violence. There aren't a lot of overly graphic descriptions but there are enough that I would caution sensitive readers to be prepared.
