Self-care is not selfish…

I’m not a big fan of ‘self-help’ books but I was intrigued by the blurb of this book. It sounded like the author had been through some harsh life battles and wanted to share her experiences and offer a helping hand to others who were going through the same. The voice of experience? I’ve never turned away from that and I’m glad I took a chance on this read. It was informative, entertaining and offered practical steps to tackling some of life’s harsh hurdles. I didn’t expect the humour – with a book title like this I should have, of course! – but it fit perfectly with the author’s voice. She offered a step by step plan to deal with circumstances and people, providing real life examples of how they helped her own life.

Practical, funny and far from a dry ‘how to’, it paves the way for the next in the series – work! And who wouldn’t want more insight into that…

This is a very good self help book. Carolyn describes what she has been through in her life. This is a good book to read when dealing with change in your life.

This is the second book in the De-twat trilogy (yes, trilogies happen with non-fiction too! Surprise!) and it’s life changing.

I remember taking part in the book tour of the first book too and I still feel that book taught me so many things when to not take a damn from other toxic/clueless people in our lives.

Though not a sequel or anything (both books can be read separately without reading the other), I feel this is a good follow up of the first book. After knowing and realising what kinds of people in our lives need to leave or let go, I want to know which area in my life I do need to focus on.

What’s more urgent than becoming my own self to the fullest?

That’s where this book comes in.

Four main sections. Four stages of becoming yourself: Self Seeking, Self Expression, Self Love, Self Fulfilment.

Each stage is filled with substeps that are elaborated in simple ways. Lots of life lessons. Lots of experience to share I say!

Short chapters, easy to read and follow it feels like a trusted friend is telling you about their experiences and what they learned so far.

I have noted a few practical tips from the book. I have take a whole day to rethink about my life and myself while reading this book to make notes where parts of the book fits exactly what I needed to learn.
And it helps and will help me in my journey.

Who says non-fiction, adult self help books aren’t practical?

I am so excited about the final book Twats at Work which is coming out next year!

Am still waiting for my physical copy! Cannot wait to read it with my family and friends.

Thank you author and Ink for the advance reading copy.

A book filled with self love, advice and an odd swear word! Caroline’s wonderful writing style intertwines some real advice on turning things around, owning your s**t and dealing with mental health issues with a warm, humour. This book feels like a real life conversation with a friend and that’s why I love it!

Focuses on principles of why we are not being ourselves currently and what needs to change in order to me ourselves unapologetically and without guilt. Written very nicely with a lot of humor. I didn't understand the word twat fully but understood it's usage in the context!
