Thank you NetGalley and Canelo for the eARC.
This was my second in the DCI Clare Mackay series and I was a bit disappointed, having loved the previous one. It's a good police procedural, but I wanted more of Clare's personal life and her relationship with DCI Al Simpson now that they've moved in together. And DS Chris West is being too grumpy about not being allowed to work on the case of the disappeared prison officers and their wives, as he's the cousin of one of the officers. I do like hearing about Clare's pup - more please.
Mildly enjoyable.

This book had suspense, intrigue, action, and good police work! The storyline was interesting and flowed nicely, it was a Decent read but didn't grab me like most?! It was worth reading but just ok for me! I would recommend reading it but it wasn't one of my all time favorite! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

A van containing two prison officers and an armed robber has gone missing. And the officers' wives have disappeared too.

Clare Mackay clearly has her work cut out. Add in the fact that her sergeant is the cousin of one of the missing officers (and therefore must take no part in the investigation) and the fact that her boss is sidelining her makes for a less than straightforward case
