Super cute supernatural romance story. It had a little bit of everything and it all wraps up neatly. Good book to curl up with a cuppa.

Love this book! It was funny and heartwarming. It is the perfect book for spooky season, and a definite must read!

This was a nice read. The characters were generally well written and the plot kept me interested. I guess it was missing the spark of chemistry, and at time it did feel like a bit of a drag.

Overall I did enjoy reading this and I'm looking for reading more by this author.

Thank you to the publisher for kindly providing me with an ARC via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Hex Appeal called me with the cover and I really liked the setting and characters in this story. However, the plot could have been smoother and the pace was a bit too slow for my taste.
Witchy, funny book

A great witchy book, loved it. Can’t wait to re read it again next fall. Great story must read If you like witchy books.

Anything witchy is a must for me which is why I loved this book so much! I loved the romance in it the most, it was just so perfect.

I think the harder I try to be a “witchy” gal , the further away from it I get. Hex Appeal left me simply whelmed. It was good, not great for me and left something to be desired. What is it, you may ask? I have no idea.

Here’s what I do know: slow-burn, lotta quirky characters, some fun banter, all the witchy vibes, and some deep generational drama. It’s mysterious as you try and unravel everything happening.

Just incredible. The romance, the tension, the world building, the quirky characters, and the humor. Such an exquisite and cozy book!! I can't wait for more books from Kate Johnson!!

This was a really fun read. I had some genuine laugh out loud moments.
Unfortunately, the romance fell a little flat for me. I think mostly because it was in third person I found it hard to connect with Essie and Josh. Both are extremely likeable characters (on their own) but I found the chemistry lacking. However, I loved the awkwardness and realness of their love scenes, it was such a refreshing change.
Josh's awkwardness in the beginning came across quite fatphobic in my opinion and it was hard to root for him and Essie after that. I understand him a little better after finishing the book, but his thoughts on Essie climbing the stairs were not something I'd expect from a romance.
The pacing was a little slow, but then things took a turn that I really wasnt expecting and it peaked my interest again.
Overall this was a sweet story that in all honesty would have been just as enjoyable without the romance.
I'm curious to see if there will be other stories about the rest of the witches.

I really loved reading this book! I also couldn’t stop reading so I read the entire book in one sitting! Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this title.

This book was the definition of a cozy read.
It had low-angst with heaps of loveable characters which made it such a pleasant and easy book for me to read.
I didn't love that it was written in third person, but it was still enjoyable despite it. It had a quirky sense of humour which I really enjoyed and I truely hope that we get more books set in this world.
If you love the Ex Hex, Hex Appeal is definitely a book you should pick up.

Thankyou NetGalley for this arc.

Unfortunately this was just not for me, I had to give up on it and I hate doing that. It was just too far fetched and the plot was all over the place.

I’m sure some people will love it but sadly I’m not one of them.

I loved the romance between Essie and Josh and how they were almost destined over the centuries to come together and heal the rift between their families. I loved all the side characters with their unique quirks and the way they supported one another.

Hex Appeal was absolutely fantastical! Johnson wrote a story that was so well written I found myself flying through the pages, unable to put the book down, pondering what would happen next. My favorite piece of this entire story was how believable the characters were.

The writing is clear and clean, and very immersive. The book hums along at a good clip, but the pacing makes sure we're given time to breathe between plot-intensifying moments. The story was absolutely engaging and the work that went into the settings was noticeable and superb. I felt absolutely transported and I'm so incredibly glad I was able to read an arc of this story.

I thought this was going to be a cute lil witchy romcom when I requested it from NetGalley, but this felt like just a mash up of a bunch of different ideas and published.

I laughed out loud many times during this delightful little story full of quirky characters. What starts with a quest to recover overdue rent by new UK resident Josh, turns into an end of the world adventure when he meets undercover witch Essie and her housemates. Set in a sleepy little English village this story is equal parts cozy mystery, contemporary romance and witchy fantasy.

While the first half of the book concentrates on the characters and their budding relationships to each other, the second half dives headlong into fighting a centuries old evil. I found Josh and Essie's interactions fun and spicier than I expected but it is definitely a slow build. Essie's fellow witches are entertaining but could have used more fleshing out so that we cared more about them but seeing all the witchy creations was interesting and would've loved to see even more of it.

The latter half while amusing, warps from one incident to another and so the pacing feels a little too fast and loses some of the impact. I loved the ending and would love to read more of this world with Josh's sister maybe being the main character or else just an update on how everyone is doing. Recommend for those who want a quick lively read with a dash of romance and magic.

I definitely got Encanto vibes in this spicy, witchy read! It's perfect for those fall, cozy reads!! The witches of Good Winter are charmingly eccentric and unique! This story is a quirky rom-com read with a little spice!! It's the perfect book for Oct that's less horror and more fun! I laughed out loud at certain points and was thoroughly entertained!!

Thank you Netgalley, Harper Collins UK, and One More Chapter for the review copy!

Thank you to the author and publisher for providing me with a digital ARC of this tile via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I hesitate to review this title because I could not finish it. Others might enjoy it, but it was not for me. I tried several times, but found it ridiculous and over-the-top cliched. I couldn't do it.

This book was super cute and cozy. I loved the concept and the setting and the main character. The house was my favorite part ever. It feel like Practical Magic for sure. I will say that it felt very slow in the middle and I struggled to pass the midway point and complete this novel. Most books don’t take me this long so that was odd for me. I couldn’t say why but not much happened. I would’ve loved to see more house-y, witchy stuff maybe? And stuff did happen at the end but very quickly. Overall this was a 3.5 rounded up solely for the house and the atmosphere. A good time.

I really really liked this book, I am a sucker for a book with a good healthy dose of magic and this was brilliant.
Josh moves from the US to the UK and stumbles across a coven of witches in one of this rental properties (happens to all of us of course!) and I loved the way the tale played out.
I really enjoyed how Kate Johnson included the history of witchcraft into her writing, it made it informative as well as enjoyable! A good read!
