Great novel by Trope that really had me guessing. Just when I thought I knew what would happen next, a twist came along that I did not see coming at all. A great thriller focussing on how desperate some people can get when they want something badly.

I found this a thoroughly disturbing and anxiety inducing read!
There are a lot if triggers regarding mental health and loss, I found this book quite distressing in parts but very well written, really excellent twist, I didnt guess it at all, very well written and completely gripping.

Sarah is slowly entering back into the world after getting out of the hospital due to mental issues after losing her second child. Her ex-husband Gideon is torn between allowing her to visit with their daughter and the demands of his new wife Emily. A great psychological that kept you guessing until the end!

First wife goes through traumatic events, divorces husband and then gets admitted to psychiatric facility. Husband finds new wife who may or may not be a little unstable too. First wife gets released and tries to assimilate back into society and regain visitation rights to her daughter. Second wife is extremely unhappy about this. You can sort of guess where this is going.
The author attempts to throw in some plot twists and provide readers with a "gotcha" ending. I found the characters unlikeable and was not invested in anyone's happy ending.

Excellent book! A little predictable, but not enough to ruin the book. I highly recommend this fast paced book.
Thank you to netgalley, the publisher and author for the chance to read this advanced copy.

Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. This was my first time reading a book by Nicole Trope and if this is any indication of how good the books on her backlist are, then I need to add them to my TBR stack asap! This book held me hostage from the very beginning. We have 2 wives, a current and an ex...the ex has some disturbing issues she is working on and until she resolves them she has limited access visits with her daughter. On top of this she has a stalker with a crush on her from their time in a facility together This was such a suspense filled domestic thriller for me. I thought I had it all worked out but I was so wrong in the best of ways, this book shocked me. One of those books where the twists keep running through your mind long after you have finished the final page. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐#nicoletrope #hisotherwife #netgalley #goodreads #litsy #thestorygraph #amazonkindle #bookstagram #bookqueen #tea_sipping_bookworm #domesticthriller

This book was incredible! Like the I stayed up reading too late because I couldn’t put down this book like of incredible. I found all the characters intriguing. Told through multiple perspectives I quickly decided someone was not who they seemed. However, this book kept me guessing all the way through. I can’t wait to devour more books by this author.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Other Wife. The story was about Gideon, his first wife Sarah, his second wife Charlotte, his daughter Emily, and his mother-in-law Carol.

Sarah had a nervous breakdown and was institutionalized for three months. Charlotte's brother, Edward, was sent there by his mother to keep her off balance and possibly keep her there indefinitely. Unfortunately, he fell in love with her. He'd used an alias, Damian. When Sarah got out, he emailed her repeatedly declaring his desire to be with her. This terrified her and she told Gideon about it.

Charlotte was enamored by Emily and wanted Sarah to go back to the hospital so that she could raise her with Gideon. She also manipulated Emily to bend her to her will. Charlotte was jealous of Sarah and could feel Gideon slowly slipping away. She told her mother everything, including how she felt that Sarah was cracking up and should be hospitalized again. She also told her that she felt she was losing her husband. Of course Carol believed everything Charlotte told her.

One day, Charlotte picked Emily up early from school and took her to her mother's house. The plan was that she would get Gideon over there so they could sort through their issues. As it turned out, Carol sent Charlotte to a spa and phoned Gideon to tell him that Emily was there and that he should come over to work through his problems with Charlotte. Gideon was furious because Emily was supposed to be with Sarah. So Gideon went to Carol's house but only to pick up his little girl to take her to Sarah. Before he left his office he phoned Sarah to tell her what he was going to do and gave her Carol's address. He went to the house only to find that Charlotte was not there. Her mother started trying to talk to him about his and Charlotte's issues, but he wasn't having it. He just wanted to get his daughter and leave. Carol had locked Emily in the study. When Gideon tried to go get Emily Carol pulled a gun on him. At this time Sarah showed up and was ringing the doorbell. They didn't answer it, and Carol shot Gideon. Sarah called out for Gideon. Emily heard her mother's voice and cried out to her. Sarah learned that Emily was in the study and went to the window and got Emily's attention. Carol came into the room and took hold of Emily dragging her from the room. Sarah threw rocks at the window and broke it enough so that she could climb through. She searched the house until she found her daughter in a room with Carol. Carol had the gun 0ointing at Emily; she was going to kill her. Sarah tackled her to the ground and claimed the gun. Emily had run from the room and found her father lying on the ground, shot. When Sarah came downstairs, Charlotte had arrived. Sarah pointed the gun at her. Charlotte called the police. Sarah found Gideon and Emily in the living room.

In the end, Carol had written Charlotte a letter from prison. In it she confessed to killing her husband because he was going to leave her for another woman. She also told her how she had sent her brother to torment Sarah and how he had failed.

Charlotte spent her days in her mother's house trolling the internet searching out Gideon, Sarah and Emily. She learned they were together. And she was plotting how she was going to invade their lives.

This book would be perfect for book club. I highly recommend it.

📚Book Review📚 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

His Other Wife by Nicole Trope

Gideon receives a call from his 5 yr old daughter Emily that his ex wife Sarah can hear “the whispering man” again and they are hiding and she is scared 😱 At the urging of his fiancé Charlotte, he has Sarah committed to get the help she needs and they take full custody of Emily. Charlotte now has the perfect family she has always wanted.

I’m torn between giving this 3 1/2 or 4 ⭐️ because it has a good plot and the characters are developed realy good but I had this figured out very quickly so it wasn’t shocking but it did hold my attention and I wanted to finish it. Overall it was a good book!

Gideon takes a late night call from his five year old Daughter Emily.
Emily says the whispering man is back and that she and her Mum Sarah are hiding in the wardrobe.
Sarah has lost her parents and her son within a few months of each other and blames herself for theses losses.
Sarah's mental health has declined and Gideon thinks it is best if Sarah goes to an in patient clinic to get better.
Gideon and his new wife Charlotte take care of Emily but once Sarah returns home Charlotte is reluctant to let Emily go.
What a wild ride this book was. Nicole Trope is the queen of domestic suspense, from the first page she sucks you into the story and compels you to keep turning the pages until the end.
The characters are well developed and you can't help but feel what they are going through, even the villain at the end I had empathy for.
I had a vague idea of where the story was
heading but a twist towards the end totally
surprised me.

I loved this book! Never read this author before but have read another of hers since reading this which I also loved. Really well written, characters are all convincing and I didn’t see the twist coming as I was so enjoying just reading it. Highly recommend and look for her other books too x

Today it is my pleasure to share my thoughts on His Other Wife, as part of the book tour hosted by @bookouture. As always, my thanks for my spot on the tour and for the ARC, via Netgalley, in exchange for my honest review.

𝗠𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪

I hadn’t read anything from this author so I looked at the reviews for her previous books. They set the bar quite high, so I was expecting great things. Happily I can report that I found them. And more. The story has a strong start which drew me in very quickly. There is a large mental health aspect to this book which was handled, on the most part, sensitively.

There are some very strong characters here, all nicely developed, three dimensional, and entirely credible. I did like Sarah, Emily, and Gideon (mostly). I could not make myself like Charlotte though, so whatever happened to her character, I was okay with. I felt Gideon was caught between a rock and a hard place; stuck in the middle between Sarah and Charlotte. It's hardly surprising that Sarah suffered a breakdown of her mental health after the grief she was struggling with.

And that ending! I even made a note on my Kindle. It simply said, “Bloody Hell!" It capped off a brilliant read. One that I am more than happy to recommend to all readers of mysteries and psychological thrillers. I gave His Other Wife, by Nicole Trope, five stars, and look forward to more of her books.

This was my first book by this author. This was a really good thriller! Sarah is the ex-wife who is in rehab after an emotional breakdown. During her bad time, she pushed her husband away. He has since remarried Charlotte and she has become the perfect step mother. Sarah gets out of rehab and is trying to get her life back on track but strange things start happening. Is she regressing? Or is someone trying to sabotage her? I was quickly pulled into the story. At times I was routing for Charlotte and at other times I was routing for Sarah. The middle of the story got a bit slow and I thought I knew how it was going to turn out, but I was surprised by the ending.

Newly married Charlotte loves her husband Gideon and her new step daughter Emily what she doesn’t love his Gideon‘s ex-wife Sarah who is battling severe depression and some obvious mental issues. How far will Charlotte go to save her marriage? How far will Sarah go to prove that she’s not crazy? Who does Gideon really love? All in all this is truly a great book. The characters had me both loving them at times and irritated with them the next. Gideon was truly stuck in the middle. It wasn’t as fast paste as I would like for it to have been but I did enjoy the twist to the ending! I knew something was up but the author still managed to surprise me in the end!

Nicole Trope’s His Other Wife is an utterly fantastic domestic thriller. After a number of tragedies, unable to deal with her reality, Sarah suffered a breakdown. She pushed her husband Gideon away, clinging only to her young daughter Emily. But it wasn’t long until she began to lose grip on reality and Gideon convinced her to seek help.

Now months later, she is ready to rejoin society, and more importantly to once again have her beloved daughter in her life. And while Gideon has seemed to have moved on and has even remarried, he believes in Sarah and her right to be a part of their daughter’s life.

Charlotte, Gideon’s new wife, isn’t quite as convinced that Sarah is ready, nor is she thrilled with the idea of now having to share Emily’s attention.

His Other Wife is a gripping and intense domestic thriller with a excellently flesh out cast of character and twisting plot that kept me flipping pages from start to finish.
