I read this book with the view that Philosophy and the theme of the social contract as my basis. However as one who did not read philosophy in University I am afraid it left me a little cold. Without doubt the author has the credentials to opine widely on the themes talked about but I found it hard to relate to the higher thinking required to read the book. It is, in my opinion, highly academic and would definitely appeal to those seeking higher insight to the philosophical thoughts of these great men in terms of the modern world. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of Tyranny and Revolution by Walter Newell. It will be a valuable resource to students.
