A great story that will intrigue and enrapture you right from the beginning. Work this case with crime reporter Maria Alvarez and try to figure it out before the end. Recommended for anyone who likes crime and mystery.

Murder mystery set in a Cuban community in Florida, where the Cuban way of life is ingrained into every corner of the town and it's inhabitants. A young journalist, just off suspension, is assigned a case that reminds her of her mother's unsolved murder. As a woman of Cuban descent, she will move through the community searching for clues that will take her too close to a killer.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
*All the Broken Girls* by Linda Hurtado Bond had an intriguing premise that initially grabbed my attention, but unfortunately, the execution fell flat for me. I really wanted to enjoy this book, but it ended up being a frustrating read.
My biggest issue was the dialogue—it often felt unnatural and stilted, making it difficult to fully immerse myself in the story. The conversations didn’t flow in a way that felt believable, and at times, they seemed forced or overly scripted rather than organic. This lack of authenticity in the dialogue extended to the character interactions as well, making it hard to connect with or care about the protagonist.
Another major problem for me was the inconsistency in emotional tone. The protagonist’s reactions felt all over the place, making her character difficult to invest in. For example, early on, she’s comforting a young victim with a deep sense of personal empathy, but in the next moment, she abruptly switches to a detached, almost clinical interview mode. Then she bounces back to showing warmth and concern, only to push the child for more details again. These constant shifts felt unnatural and artificial, as if the character was being written to fit the needs of the plot rather than behaving in a way that made sense for a real person. Because of this, I struggled to connect with her—she felt more like a collection of tropes than a fully realized character.
Overall, *All the Broken Girls* had potential, but the execution left me disappointed. The disjointed character development and unrealistic dialogue made it difficult to engage with the story, and in the end, reading it felt more like a chore than an enjoyable experience. I appreciate the opportunity to read this book, but unfortunately, it just wasn’t for me.

Great twisty read, perfect for a rainy weekend read!
Kept me guessing all the way through.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

This was full of mystery and twists I didn't see coming! I was on the edge of my seat almost the whole time. I kept *NEEDING* to know what happened next.

In "All the Broken Girls" by Linda Hurtado Bond, poignant storytelling takes center stage as the lives of the characters intersect in unexpected ways. Bond's exploration of relationships and personal growth against a backdrop of mystery results in a novel that is both emotionally resonant and captivatingly suspenseful.

This was a story that would make you want to stop reading but... no you have to know what she is going to do... "Mari has only one option. Put the puzzle together before someone else dies—" A puzzle you will want to want to see finished.

Since this was a DNF for me, I will not be posting a review on Goodreads outside of that it was a NetGalley ARC provided by the publisher.
The beginning started out really promising even though I struggled with the culture and religion being so prevalent. That isn’t a negative, it was just something I am not familiar with and it took me out of the stores when I needed to look things up for more context. I really enjoyed the short chapters and the pacing was quick. However, the mail in the coffin so to speak, was feeling like the FMC had a disregard for herself and others along with contradicting herself with words, actions, and thoughts. So many love this one, but it seems it was a miss for me. (Rating is subjective on this one.)

Crime reporter Mari Alvarez was never able to solve her mother’s murder ten years ago. But when a woman is gunned down on the doorstep of her West Tampa neighborhood, Mari can’t shake the eerie sense of connection.
Even being let go from her position doesn't stop Mari from trying to find out the truth about the murders now and her mother's years ago and the connection between the two. This book will keep you guessing until the end.

This book pulled me out of my reading slump! This was a very good thriller, very nitty gritty. Very detailed. Gross and yet I just could not get enough. This was my first read by Linda Bond, however I am now looking forward to reading more of her work.

This was a nice, fast-paced, crime fiction read. This was my first book by this author and I would definitely read a book by her again. I always enjoy a good crime thriller to pull me out of a reading slump.

Title: All The Broken Girls
I enjoyed the book. I felt it had good twists and the pacing was great.

This one was pleasantly surprising! I felt like it was going to be heavily predictable, but it was definitely not. I loved the Cuban culture throughout the book! I love reading about cultures different from my own! Really loved Mari and hope this is not the last we see from her!

Linda Hurtado Bond’s All the Broken Girls was a story that had me curious, hoping for a mystery that would keep me turning the pages. Although there were some interesting elements in this one, it never grabbed me in the way I’d hoped.
In truth, it took a long time before I was pulled into this one. It took a while for me to feel anything toward the characters, and the storyline did not pull me in with the intensity I had hoped. As things progressed, I did find there were more things I was curious about. Although my curiosity increased, nothing ever quite reached the level I had hoped. Things were introduced and handled quickly, and it felt like the depth needed was always just out of reach. This stopped me from ever falling completely for the story. Add in the open ending, and this one didn’t quite tick the boxes for me.
All in all, I can see people enjoying this one. For me, it didn’t have the intensity I like for the genre.

I enjoyed the pacing of this book and the twists that came with it. I can't wait for the next book from Linda!

I loved this book. A good mystery is my go to! The story of how the detective and the real deceive solve the crime and find out what a broken girl is and what it means. Couldn’t put the book down. I was also excited that it looked like it was a series.

When I requested this book, All the Broken Girls, I thought it was just going to be a great serial killer book set in FL. But, it turns out, it was so much more. This book has elements of black magic, Santeria and a fantastic exploration of Cuban culture and community. This definitely didn’t feel like a run of the mill serial killer fiction. I loved it.

I enjoyed reading this suspenseful story. This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed. She has great writing skills and her attention to details made her story come to life. I found this book to be a well written story that is hard to put down. A story where the past and present come together to make a puzzle full of secrets. You don't want to miss what happens in this book. The characters pulled me in the first word and kept me engaged to the end. I enjoyed watching their growth and what they added to the story. The twists and turns had me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what was lurking in the shadows. It is truly a great story that filled my afternoon with suspense and mystery. I highly recommend this book.

I loved this cat and mouse game. A book about solving a murder? Sign me up! Kept me guessing through the book. Would recommend

I enjoyed this Debbie Macomber book. The author took us through a great story and I was engrossed throughout the book.
