Not everything in this book resonated with me personally and it was very, very repetitive. But it was nice to hear the words of someone who understands.

This book is a good introduction to the Twelfth house for those new to astrology. It breaks down the topics well and makes it easy to understand. It may not be enough for those who already are more familiar with astrology. Many of the topics discussed is information already available online. The Facebook community seems to be where the wealth of knowledge is as people are giving their personal input of how the planets influence their actions. I liked how the Nodes were mentioned and would have liked if the author included other sensitive points in the chart like the POF or incorporated synastry and asteroids. That would have made it 5 star read for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for the ARC.

This year I committed myself to expanding my knowledge on astrology and so far, so good. I read another book by the author earlier in the year and jumped at the chance to read this one as well. While I consider this to be a more advanced topic, it was a great read and I’ll come back to it again made I have my charts laid out and can better apply this to myself. However this is the first book I’ve come across specifically on the Twelfth House and it’s intriguing.

A great addition to any Astrologer’s book shelf, no matter your experience level. The author is well versed in Astrology and you won’t be disappointed.

This seems to be a self-help book for those who already are well-acquainted with their full birth charts - in other words, to benefit from your book, you already need to be astrology-savvy.

It explores what it means to have one or more planet in the Twelfth House of the birth chart, just behind the Ascendant. This part of the chart is said to symbolise loss, self-undoing, betrayal (though surely the Eighth House is an even better contender for this), addictions, prisons and hospitals. The writer Oscar pains to point out that there is more to all this than just the negatives - there are also psychic abilitities and an understanding of spirituality. However, Twelth House issues can still be difficult, and the writer draws attention here to her Facebook page for those dealing with these.

It's not the first book I have seen either that is devoted to this area in the chart - clearly, others have looked for insight beyond the challenges presented by being born with these placements. The writer, having Sun and Venus there, tends to focus on these, (particularly on Venus).

The names of one or two politicians with the Sun here are mentioned in passing, which is a pity because one thing that may get missed here is how very strong 12th House placements can be, especially if a politician is able to identifies with something stronger with themselves (l'etat, c'est moi).. 12th House solar placements tend to figure a lot in the chart of politicians and as Gauquelin pointed out, so so the Moon and Jupiter (and sometimes a pretty Machiavellian Jupiter) - though it seems that there has to be some distance from the Ascendant for this to manifest most.

The writer, however, sticks with 'modern' astrology, but is probably fine for those whose 12-house issues are neither Gauquelinesque nor traditional. Being a sucker for predators, for example, is no fun.

I do think the book could have benefited from a little more strictly Virgoan editing, as sometes the ideas and delineations can be rather repetitive.

Still, this book is probably still a helpful resource for those coming to grips with all the vexing placements discussed here, and there is that Facebook page available for readers too.
