Susie inherits a fixer-upper and hiring Lars isn't ideal but she doesn't have much of a choice. To both of their chagrin and surprise, they find divorce papers dated for the future with their names on it. So do they ignore what could be fate, embrace the inevitability of a relationship and its demise, or find out what it all means?
I'm really loving getting my hands on all of these magical realism stories! I think the premise for End of Story is so sweet and swoony but I definitely missed the magic it could have had. The ending makes me hope that another will come because it's either a cliffhanger or the ball dropped somewhere. I liked both characters, but, again, I really wanted more magical answers.
Thank you to HTP books for the gifted copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

I was enthralled with this story from the very beginning. The plot was so unique from anything that I read before. Susie inherits a home from her beloved aunt. There is some work that needs to be done so she hires a local company to come to make repairs. She is not expecting Lars to show up. He is the best friend of her ex, and she hasn’t seen him in months. As they begin the work, they find an interesting document hidden in the walls. It is divorce paperwork from ten years in the future with their names on it. There are lots of questions, with no real answers. They grow closer trying to figure out how it happened. I absolutely adored the characters and the entire book was a wonderful from the beginning to the very end, pun intended. Another amazing story from Kylie Scott!

Didn't love it, didn't hate it. I just think I was expecting a lot more.

I didn't like the end and it was pretty frustrating.

BUT... On the good side, I think Susie is the first protagonist that I don't feel related to and still get her, so I really loved that.

Oh good this woman knows how to write bastards, Aaron can go to kiss my ass and also Susie's brother, God, I really hate them both.

In general I liked the book I just got really disappointed with the end of it.

Thanks for the ARC @valentine_pr. 🤍🪷

Susie wouldn't have picked Lars as her first choice to be the contractor to fix up the house she inherited from her aunt, but his company is the most reputable around, and she really needs this done. So she'll just have to put up with being in close proximity to her jerk ex's best friend. Yeah...it's that kind of awkward. But then it gets more awkward when something they find in the walls turns out to link them in a close way, but from the future. ?!? Will this weird connection bring them together or be the thorn in their side?

This story is definitely not what I'm used to from this author, but that's not a bad thing, at all. It's quirky and lighthearted with a bit of paranormal thrown in. Susie is adorable and Lars is simply swoony. I love how they go from barely tolerating each other to friends to more, even as both fight it. I would not be at all opposed if Kylie were to write more stories in this same manner.

Quite simply, this was a really enjoyable read. Lars and Susie are acquaintances, thanks to Susie having previously dated Lars’ best friend. When Lars shows up to complete some renovations on a property Susie inherited, things are made much more awkward for the pair by the discovery of their divorce certificate from 10 years in the future.

While there’s an element of magic here, it’s not overpowering. The evolution of Susie and Lars is pretty sweet and I adored their communication. Grief is mentioned throughout the novel, so let this be a content warning for you, if one is required.

End of Story is a super solid 💛💛💛💛 read for me that could very well end up in the comfort read category. I also endeavour to explore the author’s backlist for more warm hugs for my heart.

End Of Story by Kylie Scott is a contemporary romance that has a touch of magical realism to the story. End Of Story is also an enemies to lovers trope that is only slightly on the enemy side with leanings towards friends to lovers.

Susie Bowen has inherited a home from her aunt but it comes with needing a bit of TLC in the form of repairs. Excited to get to business Susie hires a contractor but finds the man sent to do the work in none other than her ex’s best friend, Lars.

Left without a choice Susie agrees to work with Lars but does her best to keep her distance. When the two open up a wall and find a divorce certificate with their names on it but a future date they both think it’s a total joke with one pranking the other.

End Of Story by Kylie Scott was a fun read that fit perfectly with my love of mixing up my genres. I think this one would also work well for someone to dive their toe into a fantasy with the majority reading more like a romcom. Either way I did enjoy this one and found the characters likable and enjoyed getting to know them along with the fun magical twist. I’ll definitely have to return to this author in the future and read more of her work.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

I’ve had the chance to not just listen to this story but also read it by this point (it’s a thing I like to do with stories I adore to see if the experience turns out good/bad with the different formats) and this is one I enjoyed just as much listening that I did reading. Andi Arndt is talented and versatile narrator, and she brought this story to life for me perfectly! Well done!

Magic, that’s what this story is, easy-peasy magic!! I know what you’re thinking, of course it’s magic because there’s magical “elements” going on in the story, but you’d be wrong! It’s magic because the story is magic and the evolution of the relationship is magic and the characters are magic and it is all just magic!! #believe

That being said, I won’t lie and say this story was perfect for me because there’s a few plot-points that were left blowing in the wind and that made me wonder what the heck they were doing in the storyline. However, that feeling of “wait, what about …?” didn’t happen until the very end so it actually did not drag me out of my magical listening bubble.

I’ve read a few different types of romances by Kylie throughout the years and I have to say, she is quite versatile in her writing skills and a really good storyteller. End of Story was fun and witty, out of the box but not completely, immensely entertaining, organic and not overly dramatic, with a kismet/fated feel to it that was really well blended into the story without full-on paranormal.

I went into this blind and was not expecting the magical part of it but loved it regardless!!! Imagine someone you dislike finds divorce papers from the future for the two of you!! I will say that alone kept me enthralled and finishing this book way quicker than anticipated!!! If you are ready to suspend your beliefs for a moment this is the book for you!!! also its grumpy sunshine which is a god tier trope for me.

Kylie Scott's End of Story is one of those stories that will captivate you from its first pages, the characters are so authentic and so real that you will feel identified with them.

4 Stars

Something new, different, and refreshing from one of my favorite authors.

I loved this opposites attract, ex’s best friend, friends to lovers story. I’m not a paranormal fan at all, but I enjoyed the vibe this one gave off.

I loved both Susie and Lars, but honestly, it was the little things that made me love it even more. It was funny and l enjoyed the crap out of it.

I really like Kylie Scott and I really liked this book. It was a really fun set up and I loved all the characters. I feel like the plot could have veered into cheesy but Kylie managed to keep it fun.

This was an adorable book that had a surprising little twist. I loved the two characters.. but contains a happily ever after which I always want and left me in a good area.. female character with strong independent which I look forward to because there's a lot of times they don't make them that way. Male character strong beautiful and caring and listens basically the perfect male good with his hands. Had a low level of spice but the chemistry between the characters were great.

I was very inclined to read this one because of the cute cover. I went in blind and how the story unraveled was pretty interesting! Thank you HTP Books for my copy.

Susie is recently divorced and she inherits her aunts property that needs some fixing up. When she hires a contractor, it just so happens to be Lars, her ex-husband’s best friend. As they do renovations, the discover something peculiar hidden behind the walls. A divorce certificate dated 10 years in the future with both their names on it.

𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. The plot was very intriguing to say the least. It reminded me alot of the movie Lake House with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. While the story was interesting with great potential, i felt that it didn’t deliver well enough for me. I wish there was more back story, chemistry and explanation as to why things happened. I felt that there wasn’t much happening as i kept reading either. Can’t say I loved this book, but it was okay.

I was lucky enough to read this early and I loved it!!! Kylie Scott never disappoints and End of Story is no exception. This is a fun and hilarious ex's best friend romance. There is also the mystery of the divorce certificate Lars finds in the wall of Susie's house that has both their names on it and is dated ten years into the future. Both the romance and plot are incredible!
I adore Susie and Lars!! The banter between these two is fantastic and their chemistry is off the charts. I love how their relationship develops and that they don't give up on each other. Susie is definitely quirky, sweet, and funny. Lars is a swoon worthy, grumpy hero, who is also very kind and protective. I think they are perfect together!
There are also some lovable side characters, especially Cleo and Tore, that made this story even more fun. I have to mention that the Ex is a total jerk and I love when he finally gets what he deserves, you'll understand when you read the book.
If you love romances with a smart ass FMC I highly suggest you read End of Story!!

I always adore a Kylie Scott novel, and End of Story is a delightful edition to Scott’s catalogue! Kylie Scott’s writing has a lighthearted tone that works really well in her contemporary romances. Scott creates an ease in her writing that blends humor, charm, and depth to give a well rounded nature to the situations and her characters. This novel feels easily accessible, is well paced, and has a really sweet romance at its core. I really enjoyed this romance that has an everyday feel to it, many of Scott’s novels center around a celebrity or rock star, so I found this to be a refreshing and new story!

I absolutely adored our main characters, they are both acquaintances who have not seen each other in many months, there is a prequel novella which shows their backstory that I would definitely recommend reading. Now they are thrown back into each others orbit and the heroine must learn to overcome past embarrassments. The set up of a house renovation is always fun but Scott puts in some intrigue when a divorce certificate is found with both the hero and heroine’s names and dated ten years in the future. This little mystery lets the novel play into the fun trope of forced proximity and these two develop and grow a friendship as they are ignoring the true romantic feelings that are blooming. Scott also weaves in some caretaking, which I love! I really enjoy how Scott takes the time for our heroine to work through her feelings for the hero, she learns to be his friend, she learns to trust him, she learns to open herself up to him, she learns to understand him. I also love that the hero is so taken with the heroine and he falls head over heels for her first, but know he must let her take the lead in their relationship. This novel really highlights and explores the building of a solid relationship that is rooted in trust and respect which really plays out beautifully in the third act. This novel is sweetly steamy, Scott uses their physical relationship to show how the heroine is learning to understand her feelings and what she really wants.

I would definitely recommend this novel! If you love Kylie Scott, I think you will find a new favorite. If you have never read Kylie Scott before, this is a wonderful introduction!

My Thoughts::

I really enjoyed this funny and swoony rom-com with a bit of magic to make the story unique and fun! I loved the romance between Susie and Lars, and how it developed throughout the book. Kylie Scott did a great job making their attraction and connection believable. Susie is a little quirky, and I really enjoyed her character being a strong self-assured female. She had a lot to deal with like her toxic family, and her cheating ex but she handled it really well. I look forward to reading more from Kylie Scott!

I liked the story and the chemistry between Susie and Lars. However, I was a bit disappointed that at the end of the book, the author sidestepped a major part of the story's premise rather than coming up with an explanation/resolution.
