‘End of Story’ by Kylie Scott was a sweet, fun rom-com. It was a quick read with great characters that kept me fully engaged until the end. Super enjoyable. Definitely recommend!

I really liked the blurb on this title. It sounded light-hearted and intriguing with the divorce decree being dated ten years in advance. I'm happy to say that this was everything I expected and more. I relly enjoyed this story.

Susie is recovering from a very nasty breakup when her beloved aunt passes away, leaving her a home that is sentimental and in need of repair. She hires a contractor. A contractor that just happens to be her ex's best friend. And then they find the document and everything changes.

I really liked the document aspect and how it made these characters really look at their relationship. I really wanted to see them find their way, and get their HEA.

Overall, I recommend this to romance readers looking for something fun and light-hearted with a bit of an intriguing twist to things. Both characters are likable (although I didn't need to know everything Susie wore! ) and it's an easy read.

End of Story by Kylie Scott is a unique and fun story. This started out strong and stayed that way through out. I loved the idea of the mysticism and seeing the direction in whichScott was going to go. The ex’s best friend trope was chef’s kiss and the steam level was perfect. End of Story was very satisfying.

It’s been a hot minute since I read a book by this author. I devoured her Stage Dive series back in the day. And a few more books here and there. I should probably see what I’ve missed since I really enjoy her writing. But I digress… The premise of this story was very intriguing and very different from what I’ve read from her in the past, so I couldn’t say no to this book.

Susie and Lars’s story is the ultimate opposites attract of all of the books I’ve read. She’s a free spirit open to all possibilities, and he’s the straight-laced, practical, no-nonsense type. And this slow-burn romance was fun, intriguing, and entertaining. I’m glad this author seemed to step out of her comfort zone and challenge herself. While I understand some readers weren’t quite sure about this one, I was honestly impressed.

⭐️⭐️⭐⭐️ Book Review

Six months ago Susie Bowen undergoes a humiliating public break up with her ex Austin and inherits a house that needs more than its fair share of work. Just when things couldn't get any worse, she discovers her contractor is her ex’s best friend, Lars. Despite their rocky start Susie determines it best to keep Lars on as her contractor because it would only be more work to find someone else that was trustworthy. During the demolition Lars and Susie find a divorce certificate in the wall with both of their names on it dated for ten years in the future. Who is playing games on who? If this is legit can the two of them happily survive the next ten years knowing the outcome? Or will that outcome be prevented?

End of Story was hilarious with many literal laugh out loud moments. The banter between Lars and Susie drew you in making you want more and more. The secondary characters really add to the story line. This one was a little slow to start for me but once it picked up I enjoyed how Susie and Lars were continuously fighting the chemistry that lingered in the air. Despite the outcome they believed was in their future they had to give it a try believing they could change the outcome. Although this was more romantic comedy the overall take away for me was, don’t ever let the fear of an outcome get in your way. You make your life what you want it to be and you have the power to make change. This was my first time reading Kylie Scott and I will definitely be on the lookout for more of her books.

I really enjoyed reading this book! This is a feelgood story about Lars and Susie and their divorce certificate that they found inside the walls in her house that he’s fixing.

This was so different from other books I’ve read! I liked the paranormal aspect about it and wanted to know how it ended.

I didn’t like his best friend/her ex and I’m glad he saw who he really was.

Thank you to Valentine PR, Netgalley and Kylie Scott for providing me with this arc in exchange for an honest review.

3.75-4 stars. This was a good book with a unique premise. End of Story has a prequel, Beginning of the End, that is just a few short chapters that sets up this book and really helped me understand the backstory in this book. End of Story is Susie and Lars's book. Susie recently broke up with her jerk of a boyfriend, who is Lars's best friend. She is acquainted with Lars but not close. When Susie's aunt dies and leaves her her quaint cottage, Susie decides to do some renovations. The company sends a contractor to do the job, which turns out to be Lars. The circumstances are awkward between them, but he begins to work on the house. However, when he breaks into a wall, he finds a divorce decree dated ten years in the future with his and Susie's names on it. It is unexplainable to them both and they must figure out if it is a hoax or what it's origins are. As they spend time together, feelings develop between them. But is their relationship meant to fall apart before it can even begin?

This story was so fun and different. It would make a good movie someday. I really liked Lars and Susie. Lars had a girlfriend in the beginning of the book, but his and Susie's relationship is slow burn and takes time to begin. Lars could be grumpy, while Susie was sweet and quirky. She could be insecure at times, but got better. Neither were perfect but they both tried to make it work between them and were willing to put in the work. The story was whimsical, with a meandering pace at times, with some sweet, magical and poignant moments. I would have really liked Lars's POV at some point, especially the night they met. But overall, this was an enjoyable read.

End of Story was a good book. I enjoyed Lars and Susie's journey to love and seeing how everything worked out for them. I liked the touch of magic and the unexplainable that made the story come to life. I look forward to more from Ms. Scott in the future!

"Turns out sharing a secret, trying to unravel a mystery, is great for bringing people together."

I don't really know what to say y'all beyond that this really worked for me.

I totally bought in to these characters, their banter, their will-they-won't they build ups, their communication, and their commitment to each other.

Basically, we stan a good slow burn with NO third-act breakups/miscommunications.

Now, yes, there are some tiny elements of magical realism afoot here that take this novel out of the realm of total believability, but I still found it fun and easy to get behind.

If you're in the market for a lighthearted grumpy-sunshine romance you can read in a day (like I did), give this one a shot.

I had a lot of fun and couldn't wait to learn why there was a divorce certificate dated 10 years in the future.
An entertaining, compelling and well written rom-com that I read in two sitting.
The author is a good storyteller and the characters are fleshed out.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

While the End of Story was a departure from Kylie’s other books, I truly enjoyed it! It’s a sort of friends to lovers book that has somewhat of a slow burn to it. The added element of finding a divorce decree dated ten years in the future plays a significant part in the story. Overall, this is a fun read and Lars and Susie are just so freaking cute.

Susie’s aunt had left her home to her hence she was in the process of renovating it. The contractor, Lars who was set to do the work for her happened was none other the best friend of her ex, Lars. Of course, this would provide an element of discomfort for the two, but they would work around it. As the demolition of walls was being done Lars found a document within them. The document was a divorce decree dated ten years in the future of Lars and Susie’s marriage. Of course, it was assumed to be some kind of a joke.

The real gist of the story was how Lars and Susie got from point A to point B. While they had met each other through Susie’s ex, Lars being the ex's best friend. Susie and her ex-relationship had a somewhat devastating ending. Needless to say, that upon finding out that Lars would be in charge of the renovation it presented an air of awkwardness between them, not to mention that they are total opposites. Lars is pretty laid back while Susie will put it out there just what she thinks. It took a while, but they were able to come to an understanding.

Although Susie let it be known that she wasn’t looking for a new relationship it became apparent that she and Lars developed an attraction to each other. So much so that Lars broached the topic telling Susie “it was inevitable” that they would be together. The real surprise came with Susie suggesting “sex”!! And you know where things will go from here. I loved how sweet Lars was with Susie and the honesty and banter between them.

But what I enjoyed the most was Lars putting her ex in his place!!

This was a fun and fairly fast read and I would definitely recommend it!!

Love Found in the Walls of an Old House

What would you do if you stumbled upon a divorce decree with your name on it in the walls of an old house? However, instead of ending up in a divorce, you find a love that never knew existed.

Kylie Scott’s novel follows Susie Bowen, who inherits a fixer-upper from her aunt. However, she discovers that her contractor is Lars, her ex’s best friend, who witnessed their public and embarrassing breakup six months ago. Susie is not thrilled to have Lars around, but she needs the repairs done quickly. Things take a turn when Lars discovers a divorce certificate hidden in the walls of the house, dated ten years in the future, with both their names on it. As they try to figure out the origins of the certificate, Susie and Lars begin to feel a spark between them. But can they make a relationship work, or is it doomed before it even starts?

What I Love about the story:

Unique premise: The idea of a divorce certificate dated in the future with the couple’s names on it is an intriguing and unique concept that sets the stage for an interesting story.

Opposites-attract trope: The classic trope of two people who seem like they would never be compatible falling for each other is executed well and adds an extra layer of tension to the story.

Top-notch banter: The characters’ witty banter and playful teasing make for an entertaining read.

Character development: Both Susie and Lars have well-developed backstories and personalities, making them relatable and engaging.

What I didn’t Like:

Slow pacing: Some readers may find the story to be slow-paced, especially during the parts where Susie and Lars are trying to unravel the origins of the divorce certificate.

In conclusion, Kylie Scott’s novel is a sweet and spicy romance with an interesting premise, well-developed characters, and enjoyable banter. While some readers may find the pacing slow, those who enjoy the opposites-attract trope and unique premises will find this book to be an entertaining and enjoyable read.

Incredible! Kylie has done it again with this delightful and humorous love story. I am utterly and completely enamored with Lars and Susie; their witty repartee makes this book an absolute pleasure to read. I am eagerly anticipating what comes next from the talented Ms. Scott.

Can fate be changed when you where never fated to be together. Lars and Susie are forbidden in every sense. She's the best friends' ex girlfriend and he's the exs' best friend, but somehow they click.

Susie has just inherited a house from her aunt and well when she hires a construction company, the last thing she expected was Lars. Last thing Lars expected was to find a divorce certificate for him and Susie, well he thinks Susie is behind it all. Lars definitely took his time and pushed away in away there were parts that reminded me of "It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time". I loved Susie attitude she took the time to herself and focused on what mattered to her. Lars and Susie seem like opposites in every way but when they're always shown swapping meals wether it may have been on a double date or with by themselves it helped build on there easy going nature. I enjoyed the luck of the story and how it drew on fate, Susie and Lars had a choice and the one they choose make them follow and avoid fate.

✨ PRINCEMAN REVIEW ✨

If you knew when a relationship would end, would you start it in the first place?

📝 Susie is trying to move on with her life. After her ex-boyfriend cheated on her, and publicly humiliated her, she's ready to focus on the fixer-upper home she's inherited from her aunt. Unfortunately, Lars, her ex's best friend, ends up being her contractor. Things get even stranger when Susie and Lars discover THEIR divorce certificate within the walls dating 10 years in the future. Is this a prank from Lars? Or, is their relationship just doomed from the start?

What I 🤍:
📄 Mysterious Divorce Certificate
☔️ Seattle, Washington Setting
🙌 NO Second Act Breakup
🚫 Forbidden Romance
😍 Instant Attraction
😹 Hilarious Banter

I was hooked into this story idea right away! A mysterious certificate in the walls of a fixer-upper!? Count me in! Also, I loved how these two couldn't help but orbit one another. The best part was the setting in Seattle, my old stomping ground! Hello, Molly Moon! 🍨

Prince's Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Passion: 🔥🔥🔥 (Openish Door)
Read If ➡️: You love Seattle, and want a love story with a little magic.
Read 📅: Anytime of Year

This book started strong, but eventually, the pace slowed down a bit. I also CRAVED more magical realism. The epilogue was REALLY cute, but I would have loved if another 'magical' moment had happened. Also, it was a bit overkill how many times Lars called Susie 'Princess.' Overall, this was a really cute, quick read.

I tagged a few friends who I think would love this book! 😘

🙏 Thank you so much to @valentine_pr_ and @graydonhousebooks for inviting me to join this Book Tour and an ARC of this book.

3.75stars- END OF STORY by Kylie Scott is a contemporary adult, erotic, slightly paranormal romance story focusing on thirty-five year old contractor/handyman Lars, and thirty year old, social media manager Susie Bowen.

NOTE: There is a prequel novella/short story THE BEGINNING OF THE END which gives some of the background to the End of the Story.

Told from first person perspective (Susie) END OF STORY follows in the wake of Susie’s beloved aunt and namesake Susan’s death. Susie inherited her aunt’s dated home, and hired her ex’s best friend and contractor Lars to help with the renovations but Lars and Susie are not friends having been pushed together by their mutual association with Susie’s ex and Lars’ best friend Aaron. From the outset Susie and Lars butt heads but things go from bad to worse when our couple discover a certificate of divorce, dated ten years in the future, a divorce between our leading couple. Believing he has been set up, Lars goes on the offensive as Susie struggles to make sense of it all. Agreeing to work together on the renovations, Susie takes time out to uncover the truth about the divorce papers, only to come to a dead end at every turn. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Lars and Susie, and the potential fall-out as fractured family dynamics, and jealous friendships threaten to tear our couple apart.

The relationship between Lars and Susie is a frenemies to lovers affair with an apparent ten year deadline. With no explanation as to the who, how or why, our couple battle the odds in an effort to take their friendship from temporary to something more permanent but family, friends, and fate seem to have something else in mind. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and seductive without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text..

We are introduced to Susie’s aunt Susan, as well as her brother Andrew and their parents ; Lars brother Tore, their sister Ella, and parents Deborah and Henning, and Lars’ ex Jane, Susie’s ex Aaron, and handymen Mateo and Connor.

END OF STORY is an engaging, entertaining and captivating story of mystery; a puzzle about the origins of divorce papers from the future but a puzzle that is never solved. The epilogue is, in fact, the prequel, which may have been better served at the beginning but the short story is available as a separate instalment. The premise is charming and interesting; the romance is flirtatious and steamy; the characters are energetic and charismatic.

This book was adorable! Instantly, I loved both Susie and Lars and the crazy thought of them together. Not only did they make a great team, but a couple as well. I was definitely not impressed with the ex/best friend. I adored the side romance of the secondary characters as well, so cute. Totally recommend this book, it was a different spin on a romance book and I really enjoyed it!

Fluffy and wholesome in a way that still leaves a little lacking, but you can't be too mad about it. The chemistry was good, the writing consistent enough, the magical realism needed to commit or back off though. Still not sure how it will sit with me in the long run, but I can see this being someone's summer binge read for sure. Thank you to both Netgalley and the publisher for an opportunity with this title.

It’s only the second month of the year but, I’m going to go ahead and declare End of Story my favorite book of 2023. That’s how much I loved this story. It was much more than I anticipated. It’s just . . well, everything I’m looking for in a book.
The characters, Lars and Susie, were unique in that they don’t have that repetitive behavior that I find so irksome. With the unique start to their relationship, they could have gone on to spiral, but Ms. Scott wrote their story with her usual distinctive style.
I found it outstanding. BTW – Skip to the back of the book and read the prequel “Beginning of the End” before you start End of Story. You’ll thank me.

3 Kylie Scott Stars
* * * Spoiler Free
In my mind, when I think of Kylie Scott and huge smile happens. I have loved her writing since the first reading of her past series. It was a happy click for this book and I was excited to start.
Unfortunately, I enjoyed some of this book but not all. It had a tendency to do some repeat telling and had also this twist that I had a hard time believing.
It could be a me problem rather than Ms. Scott's...and I would still say, read her books as they are fun.
