Daughter of the Salt King was an enjoyable audiobook for me. I liked the narrator and was drawn into the story from the first chapter. I loved the MC and honestly found myself wondering what was going to happen to her and her sisters next. I hated the world they were born into and the situation the Salt King thrust upon them. I couldn’t stop listening to this and it made my drive into work significantly more enjoyable.

I wasn’t enjoying the direction or the positioning of Emel. I had hoped for more anger or feminist burning from the start. But mostly, I didn’t like the narration or the choices production made. The voices were coming across like juvenile stereotypes and it didn’t work for me. I did like the author’s descriptions though and visuals, there’s some definite talent there. But after a trial with it, I set it aside as a DNF. Chances are I’ll give this a try in hard copy, hoping that it was just the audiobook that soured it for me.

Wonderful! Perfect for fans of Leigh Bardugo and Mara Rutherford. Everything I love about this genre was included in this story. Easy to listen to with a great narrator. Amazing plot and characters. Thank you NetGalley!
