I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A fantastic cookbook with recipes for each season. I can't wait to make many of the recipes inside.

*This cookbook is really a set of blueprints for creating your own dishes throughout the seasons of the year. The author gives an idea like grain bowls and then lists seasonal ingredients, a base recipe and how it could be changed by ingredient. You have both the ideas and what ingredients to swap in and out. The cookbook itself should be useful for beginners and advanced cooks alike for all the ideas presented.

*The good thing about the book is how easy it is to implement the idea of cooking with the seasons. Also, the author covers savory and sweet. The one issue I had was that the ingredients were fairly the same once you read a few chapters.

*If you like to cook, this is a great reference book. The ease of changing out ingredients makes this book good for people looking to move beyond the basics.

[I cooked/baked a selection of dishes from this book. The peach galette is shown and was made with fresh Colorado peaches.]

What an absolutely fantastic concept for a cookbook! Eating fruits and vegetables that are in season is something I've been striving to do more over the years. However, like many people, I don't have a ton of knowledge around what is or is not in season beyond the stereotypical (i.e., pumpkins in fall, etc). I've looked at plenty of charts or lists, but those never really stick. This cookbook is incredible because it lists out the options you have if you'd like to make something your own, while also providing an example of each basic dish altered for each season. For anyone who wants to eat more seasonally or sustainably, this is an excellent resource.

This book is so unique and useful! Most books break the recipes up by seasons and that’s it. Not this book. It gives you seasonal variations of each recipe. It’s so cool.

A Dish for All Seasons: 125+ Recipe Variations for Delicious Meals All Year Round is not your everyday “seasonal” cookbook. Rather the author, Kathryn Pauline (creator of the excellent blog Cardamom and Tea), takes twenty-five basic recipes and adapts them to each of the four seasons. This not only gives cooks great ideas using seasonal ingredients, but also inspires them to use their imaginations to come up with their own variations.

One thing that is very helpful is that the author includes basic recipes for things most of us cook often, such as basic pancakes, waffles, French toast, and crepes, so the basic recipes are a bonus to use constantly. She also includes spice mixes, sauces, and salad dressings to use on many dishes. The recipes are written in the traditional manner so they are easy-to-follow. Most have minimal ingredients and are fairly easy to put together.

Pauline includes beautiful photographs of most of the recipes as well as the seasonal variations. Also included are “grids” which list ingredients to add seasonally to each dish.

All told, this is an excellent cookbook with great ideas; it would make an excellent wedding gift or one for a beginning cook. It’s full of ideas that everyone can use and expand their cooking abilities along with excellent ideas for meals. It is good enough, that many cooks will use it every day to prepare new dishes at home.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

What a lovely idea for a cookbook! I really enjoyed the following recipes: Watermelon Fattoush Salad, the Olive Orange Panzanella, and the Cumin Shrimp Quesadillas. Instructions were easy to follow and came out correctly without tweaks. Will be utilizing this each season. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the E-copy!

I received a free ARC from the publisher for my honest opinion.

This book contains several "base" recipes with tweaks that allow them to be used throughout the year. The format was easy to follow and the seasonality of the recipes was enjoyable. Definitely one to pick up!

I’m going to admit, this review is a bit of a copout. The description on the back of, A DISH FOR ALL SEASONS, says most of what I wanted to say about this book.

What opinions of my own that I can add are this. I would not buy this book for myself. While extremely well done, there are almost no recipes I would consider making. The recipes just don’t mesh with my personal eating habits. That in no way means you shouldn’t check it out. I know some people who would love just about every recipe between it’s covers.

Some of the recipes author Kathryn Pauline has included are . . . Zucchini Tomato Frittatas, Ramps and Greens Shakshuka, Watermelon Fattoush Salad, Olive Orange Panzanella, Pickled Turnip Bean Salad, Chili Almond Chard Slaw, Cheddar Peach Crostini, Roasted Maple Mustard Brussels Sprouts, Carrot Chive Au Gratin, Thyme Grape Focaccia, Squash Lentil Soup, Cumin Shrimp Quesadillas, Parsnip Ricotta Veggie Burger, Shrimp Rolls (Okay, I can get behind this one), Whole Chicken Grilled with Veggies, Sage Pumpkin Raviolis, Syrupy Tomato Spaghetti with Meatballs, Mixed Berry Almond Fruit Tart, Blackberry Sumac Fruit Galettes, Spiced Apple Streusel Loaf Cake, Pineapple Gingerbread Upside-Down Cake, and so many more.

There are many color photos to give you the idea of what your finished dish should look like. That’s always a plus for me.

Overall, I think this would be a wonderful book to have on hand if you entertain, or just have a varied, adventurous palate.

I love cookbooks and this one is a perfect example of why. The book is divided into seasons as opposed to the more traditional meal or food type. The recipes in each season work with what is likely to be in season. As one who often visits green markets this was a delight. The recipes are clear and concise, but the fun part is that the author gives so many variations to each recipe that you can make the same base recipe and never repeat yourself if you’re willing to be adventurous. This allows the cook to become more creative and confident. The photography is truly beautiful. I made quite a few of the recipes and they were easy to follow and absolutely delicious. There is a lovely breath of options for everyone from vegan, vegetarian to various meat proteins. This is a great cookbook that would be a welcome addition to any kitchen and would also be a terrific gift. From beginner to a more sophisticated cook it’s a great book that all would appreciate.

This is a great concept for a cookbook with 26 recipes that are easily adapted to each season of the year. Each recipe starts with a base recipe and then four different variations, one for each season. I've enjoyed cooking with these recipes and have learned to make adaptions of my own.

Thank you to Netgalley and Chronicle Books for the ARC.

This is a beautiful cookbook. One of the things I really like about this cookbook. For me I'm newer to cooking. I have some familiarity since my mother was a cook for many many years. But I get overwhelmed easily by the information of cooking. This breaks down for example one recipe and variations of it that can be applied for the different seasons. So in other words you can have the same recipe but you utilize different foods that are in that season fall, winter, spring, summer. So I really appreciate the breakdown of how they organize it. The photography is gorgeous.

I love cookbooks that write and center their book around seasonal foods. Using foods when they are in season is not just a money saver but good for the environment and healthier for the body to be using foods at that optimum time.

A Dish for All Seasons by Kathryn Pauline is a book of course that is divided into the four seasons. What I most enjoyed about this cookbook were the unusual, not same ol same ol recipes. Such as Shakshuka (delicious by the way) The book also layers which I hadn't seen often but like such as grids. In each grid was a season depending on the food type such as Frittatas, Salads, Soups, Panzanellas, etc. on and on. I think twenty-five different groups like this but then seasonal variations of each one.

Did I have favorites, you betcha I did. I loved the up-side down cake, tart and fish taco season variations. The book is loaded with ideas! Absolutely loaded. One of my favorite things about Kathyrn Pauline is she likes the unusual and she is drawn to the same produce that I am.

Did I mention her produce photos are stellar? All of the photos are the recipes, food, produce but the produce photos are my favorite.

My favorite was the fish taco grid.

*Received an advanced readers copy of this book from NetGalley + the publisher to review*

A Dish for All Seasons is such a fun cookbook for anyone trying to cook with seasonal produce! It is organized well and I like that it gives 4 seasonal variations for each dish. Super helpful in coming up with different ideas for the same dish. Before each dish, the author has a seasonal produce grid listing what would work well in the dish for which season. The only thing that could have been improved is to have a bit more variety in the produce that is suggested.

A Dish for All Seasons is exactly the type of cookbook you'll want to reach for if you've been looking to move toward cooking with produce that is in season. This book will encourage you to go to the grocery store or farmers market, buy what looks good, and then bring it home and make something that tastes great. There are 25 base recipes that are adaptable with variations for the time of year. I love the concept and will be buying a hard copy for myself and friends. Gorgeous photos accompany many of the recipes, too.

"Make what you want when you want it with what you have." This book is a game changer!

Thank you to Chronicle Books and NetGalley for this ARC.

Perfect cookbook which you will use all the time. I have a few dishes that I make every week and this wonderful book gives you ideas of how to change them according to the season. Every recipe comes out exactly as expected, which is delicious, and healthy to boot. Beautifully illustrated it makes a great gift as well.

This was a very fun book to see how you can cook seasonally, Also is a huge help on how to pick out your produce and to know what is seasonally. The recipes definitely looked delicious but I wished there was a bit more variety to it other wise very well written.

Love the layout of this cookbook and the photography is stunning! Healthy, veggie-packed recipes all with variations on how to change them up based on which items are in season.

This wasn't the usual sort of cookbook. I liked how the recipes had variations for each season, as well as helpful grids with ingredient variations for each season.

This cookbook stands out amongst others by doing something unique that I personally haven't seen before and hope other cookbook authors consider.

Do you love a particular recipe but have a hard time finding fresh ingredients in different seasons? Well worry no more, this cook book gives you a recipe with 4 variations depending on the season! It's such a fun idea!!

My only real complaint is I do wish more of the recipes were geared towards quick family dinners, some of these have a long process, and I more than bet they are delicious, but, I don't really have the time to dive into intricate meals most nights.

Photos are gorgeous and made me want to eat ever page. Highly recommend if you are looking for a unique take on a cookbook.
