The author has done a lot of research, from an extensive array of sources, was put into pulling the book together. Personally I cannot help feeling that a remarkable work done by him. It assumes like reaching philosophy classes in colleges.

I admire the writing style and a deep impact pouring these stories. I loved reading this book a lot. I am thankful to netgalley for giving me this book in return of an honest review.

The reason I chose to read Stoic Stories was my interest in learning more about stoicism. For the last couple of years, there has been a resurgence of the term "being stoic" and "stoicism" which has been inundated via podcasts and other books. Never having read about the subject when I came across Neel Burton's Stoic Stories I saw an opportunity to learn and gain from it.
I had to laugh at the relationships that existed and the behaviors some would take on based on their school of philosophy. It was curious to see how some of those virtues are still very much exercised and practiced in this modern age and that it has existed for so long.
A learning experience and Stoic Stories have opened the doors to continue my personal journey of reading more into the philosophy schools that existed.

Stoicism seems to be in vogue at the moment, so it's probably smart for Burton to put this together. Readers are likely to learn some things about stoic thinkers they might not have known, and see some examples of how to practice the subject in their lives.

I respect anyone that studies any subject. This was not a subject that I could understand for some reason and so I couldn't get into it

The material in this book is interesting and instructive. It is a relaxed and easy read, and overall fairly enjoyable. It appears a lot of research, from an extensive array of sources, was put into pulling the book together. Personally I cannot help feeling that a better author would have made a lot more of such quality subject-matter, and a better editor could have eliminated the repetition in the service of a greater read.

This book was fun to read but if you are not interested in Greek philosophers, especially the Stoics you should probably try reading something else.

This was a very interesting book. I love how the author, Neel Burton, pulled together all the stories that helped me to have a better grasp of how stoics lived. Not only was this informative, it was written in a style that brought the lives of the people in them to life.
