A super charming cozy mystery! I love when a book not only has a great plot but also teaches you things, the author clearly either has a cast knowledge of botany or really researched it for the story, either way I was impressed! I enjoyed the narration as well on the audiobook

This was such a nice "cozy mystery." The narrator of the story was a perfect fit, in my opinion, the cover is stunning and will for sure draw people in, and the story overall is interesting.
This is a super fun murder mystery taking place in 1920’s London. The story follows the only female botanist at her university trying to earn respect among her peers. The main characters are excellent, intelligent, and witty. The story is full of interesting botonist information and some pretty good plot twist.

A Botanist Guide to Parties and Poison is a great read for those who enjoy classic murder mysteries. It was action packed with lots of twists and turns. The main characters were willing to do whatever it takes to figure out who the murderer is, which made for some funny and interesting shenanigans. Personally I loved learning more about botany and poisons. The romance in the book was just enough to be intriguing and move the story along without being the main focus point. Overall a great story line!
Thanks Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the audiobook.

A charming, old fashioned whodunit, with likable characters and an unpredictable plot. This is a throwback to Agatha Christie, from the story, to the use of poisons, and even the time period in which it is set. Saffron is a woman ahead of her time. She doesn’t want to get married and have babies, she’s pursuing a career in Botany while doing her best to find out who tried to murder a society lady at a party she attended. She faces many perils, from the misogyny of her colleagues to actual threats to her life, and she does it with a resourcefulness that impresses even modern readers. Her relationship with her only ally, Alexander Ashton, reminded me of Tommy and Tuppence, and the not quite as clueless as he seems Detective Green would probably get along with Inspector Japp. Jodie Harris turns in an enchanting performance, giving a distinctive voice to each character. If this is the beginning of a series, I’m all in!
I chose to listen to this audiobook and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thank you, #NetGalley/#Dreamscape Media!

London in the roaring 20’s has research assistant Saffron Everleigh attending a party at the University College of London. Amidst talk about the latest botanical discoveries and the cures being made from them, one of the professor’s wives, falls down, dead from a mysterious poison. As authorities look for a likely suspect, fingers are pointed at Dr. Maxwell, who was overheard having a heated argument with the dead woman’s husband shortly before she was killed. Saffron, who has been looking forward to a plant harvesting adventure in the jungle with Maxwell, her mentor, realizes that she must find the real culprit before her once in a lifetime adventure goes up in smoke. What a fun, adventurous romp through the golden age of botany! Loved it
