Sarah is sent on a treasure hunt on a remote Greek island with ten other scholars, including her hunky Irish ex that abandoned her 7 years earlier. She’s determined to ignore him, but a series of disasters and the ongoing misdeeds of a saboteur keep pushing them into each other’s arms. I loved the characters of Sarah and Liam, and I thought the premise of the eccentric rich man’s quest was really fun. I enjoyed the pop culture references to The Hunger Games, and I also appreciated the historical references to Troy, Greek gods, and Homer. It ended on just the right note. This is the second novella I’ve read in this series and I’ve loved them both. Definitely becoming a fan of this author!

In short...I didn't like this. Fans of Something Wilder by Christina Lauren might because it had many of the same vibes. Extremely plot-heavy, which for romance, is a no-no for me. And speaking of the plot--it was not good! Far-fetched and silly. Additionally, the romance was shallow and unexplored--same reiteration of the breakup 7 years ago but nothing about their actual relationship then or now. I am thankful it was short because I would have DNFed it.

Okay, this may be one of my favourite books, EVER. It is the romance novella version of The Lost City and Romancing the Stone, and it is the book that I didn't know I needed but now can't live without. It is funny and exciting and more action-packed than a lot of thrillers.

The only thing I didn't LOVE about this book was its short length! It is The Lost City/Romancing the Stone meets ancient history and I am here for it. I've always loved McKinlay's cozies but her romance novella series is absolutely fantastic. The Attraction Distraction is fun and fast-paced and entertaining, and I couldn't stop listening!

The narrator was good- not my favourite, as her tone fell a little flat for me at some points but not enough to make me want to stop listening

this was such a cute fun story with a little bit of love and an adventure
Loved where it took us, to the Greek Isles
Sarah and Liam had a past relationship which ended badly to say the least ( so there is history here) and now they are both on this same adventure project
So they end up finding more that just lost artifacts
This is book 2 of a series, so looks like I am gonna have to see what else this author hs written and get my hands on it
so the only bad thing about this book (audiobook) was that it was too short, there was so much more we needed lol

The narrator was perfect for this book loved her voices, her accents, how she had everyone sounds as they should,. such a great job

I would like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for letting me have an advanced copy audiobook to listen to. These are my own views and opinions about this book.

Honestly, the first chapter did not immediately hook me and I was worried I was not going to enjoy the book. I have never been interested in reading books with historical / mythological aspects but I was determined to step out of my comfort zone and try something new.

And I'm glad I did! I was quickly pulled in and loved every bit of it!! The Attraction Distraction is the perfect mix of mystery, thriller, and romance, perfect for getting a little bit of every genre. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, flipping page after page, just trying to figure out what is going to happen next and who did it.

Another wonderful installment in the Museum of Literature Romance novella series! I loved the narrator, the characters, the museum, and of course the adventure of a lifetime!

This is a cute novella, I'm just sad that it's so short. I liked this novella. Jenn McKinlay is a good writer, so i'm wondering why this isn't a full length novel. I'll be checking out her other books, they look so good.

The Attraction Distraction is the second in a series, but I honestly didn’t realize that or the fact that I’d already read the first book until after I finished listening to it. They are completely standalone, so you don’t need any backstory to enjoy this one. Between the spicy chemistry surrounding Liam and Sarah and the intense suspense of the adventure to find the artifact, my interest was held and I finished it quickly, much to my dismay. I fell in love with Liam and Sarah and want more of them. I’m hopeful they will appear in book three.

This was a cute, quick novella! If you’re looking for a quick adventure with a love story this is the book for you.
Sarah and Liam, who use to date, find themselves on the same hunt for an artifact. When people start disappearing And Then There We’re None style they decide to team up. There’s a cute second chance romance mixed in with a little bit of a thriller ish plot. Bring this novella to the beach with you!
Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape for my advanced listening copy.

Loved the story, loved the characters, loved the setting. It was short and sweet and the action kept it moving. A great read and I look forward to more by this author!

This is the second novella in the series though you can definitely read it as a stand alone. I think I liked this one more than the first - I mean books, adventures and second chance romances are some of my favourite things.
I will say that the narrator did a good job with all the accents that were involved (American, Irish, Australian) though I didn't love the voices she had for males outside the main character. There were a few times when the Irish accent was a bit weird and it took me out of the story but overall she did a good job. Because it is a novella and therefore so short the whole story is condensed. I felt that it could have probably have been a full length novel and then you would have gotten to know the side characters more and see more of the action from the adventure. All that being said it was enjoyable and I'll definitely check out any more in the series.

A cute, quick read for a light archaeology adventure. Exes Sarah and Liam are forced to work together to hunt down an artifact, as someone on the island is slowly taking the competitors out. I loved that there's a little hint of supernatural happening in this story and I'm really interested in the secret society at the Museum of iterature, and am hoping to see more from them in the furture.

Perfect for fans of second chance romance books! The audiobook is great and I really liked the narrator. I thought she did a good job of doing a Scottish accent!

Sarah Novak embarks on a literary treasure hunt with a group of colleagues, but doesn't expect the man who broke her heart years ago to be among them. Sarah can't pass up the opportunity of a lifetime: to explore an uninhabited island in the Aegean Sea on a quest for proof that The Trojan Wars really happened. She doesn't expect to be forced into a partnership with her ex, Liam, and she certainly doesn't expect to be in harm's way the entire time. It's a sweet story about a woman finding her own way after heartbreak and rediscovering love.

Unfortunately this was not a hit for me. The plot was incredibly weak, the break up from 7 years ago is mentioned about 500 times and it's just really silly. I just didn't believe any of it.

It gave me Something Wilder vibes though.

This was a fun little novella to break up the work week! It gave me National Treasure vibes with a hint of romance. It wasn't anything too special or groundbreaking, but it was fun and fresh. I'll go back and read the first in this series for sure.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy!

🔊Song Pairing: As the World Caves In - Sarah Cothran

(Felt right. You’ll understand if you read this nugget!)

💭What I thought would happen:

I felt like the title was pretty self explanatory. I didn’t actually know this was a novella when requesting the audiobook so breezed through it!

📖What actually happens:

Sarah works for the Museum of Literature and has been sent on the trip of a lifestyle…to possibly observe and collect an artifact linking to Paris, Achilles, Helen of Troy, you get the picture. Major discovery and would change the course of Sarah’s career.

She is on her way to Santorini with fellow academics in her industry whom she knows through the tight circle, one of them being friggin Liam…the Irish dreamboat who broke her heart and ruined her for all future men. Now Sarah must attempt to beat out all these other ambitious scholars to retrieve the artifact…however people are being attacked left, right and centre. Sarah is in danger.

🗯Thoughts:

I very much enjoyed this quick little audiobook that’s only a mere 3.5 hours in length. Just went for a long bike ride and sailed away with my badass MC

I very much liked Sarah’s power woman, top of her field bad assery in the wild. She wasn’t outdoorsy but did the best that she could and used that beautiful brain.

I do have to say that Sarah and Liam made one another better. However, I had an accounting professor that was Irish and shared the same name as Liam and honestly, he’s all I could envision and I was about as attracted to him as I am to a box of crayons.

The conflict between Sarah and Liam (because there always is one in the romance formula obvi) was *chefs kiss*

Want a quick beach read/listen pick this cupcake up!

Thank you NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and Jenn McKinlay for the advanced copy

This book was just overall fun! The narrator was entertaining and I think did a good job helping bring out the characters through her voice. This was a quick listen that has some romance components to it and a an adventure, a quest. A challenge to retrieve an artifact was really a contest to see which scholor could get to it first. I was not completely sold on the relationship with the exs but enjoyed this second book in this series. I like that it works as a stand alone as well.

I read the first in the series (Museum of Literature, Royal Valentine) a couple of months ago, after seeing some less than stellar reviews, and was glad that I still kept my library request for it. I myself wasn’t disappointed - it was my first book by Jenn McKinlay, and I’ve since listened to Wait For It, which was one of my top reads recently, and went out an bought a few more of her works. I immediately put in my NetGalley request for this, the second in the Museum of Literature series, The Attraction Distraction. It was So Much Fun! Yes, it’s a novella so it’s short, but things happen quickly and there is a whole lot packed into that small number of pages/listening time!

This book follows Sarah, when the museum sends her off on a wild chase at the request of an eccentric collector asking for scholars from multiple institutions worldwide to go on a quest for an artifact when he reads an old manuscript and believes that there is something extremely historically important on the new island he purchased. So, off they all go on what might be a wild goose chase, Sarah and all her companion scholars, working in competition to win this artifact and the prestige for their museum… but one of the others happens to be her ex, Liam, and he’s making it very hard to remember why they split, when he tries to protect her from all the the very odd and dangerous things that keep happening to block getting to their goal…

I highly recommend this series and novella to everyone who loves some good fun and adventure. Even if you didn’t love the first book, this one can truly be read as a complete standalone and is so vastly different, and has all of her excellent writing style that I found in Wait For It, so if you’re a fan, you know you will enjoy it (or, newcomers can become new fans). Quick, adventure, intrigue and mystery! Now I have to read Paris and her mystery series!

I also enjoyed the narration, by Sara Young. She had a great voice that leant excitement to the story.

I received an advance listen copy from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media, and this is my honest review. Thank you!

This was okay. I read the first book but it was not my favorite, nor is this one. But it is a solid read.

Sarah has the opportunity of a lifetime when her boss at the Museum of Literature sends her on a quest to find definitive proof that the Trojan war really happened, but one of the others looking for this evidence is her ex Liam. When others on the search begin getting injured, Liam and Sarah are forced to work together to stay safe.

This was a quick, fun read. I wished that parts of the book had been more surprising, like who was injuring the others, but I still enjoyed this novella.
