Sarah has the opportunity of a lifetime when her boss at the Museum of Literature sends her on a quest to find definitive proof that the Trojan war really happened, but one of the others looking for this evidence is her ex Liam. When others on the search begin getting injured, Liam and Sarah are forced to work together to stay safe.
This was a quick, fun read. I wished that parts of the book had been more surprising, like who was injuring the others, but I still enjoyed this novella.

This was quite an adventure! This was the perfect novella to end my week, making my work day fly by. Picture a brief version of Indiana Jones, with a dash of Hunger Games, and that is how I'd summarize this story.
Sarah is delegated to go on a hunt for a lost artifact, but the last person she expects to come across is the man who suddenly up and left her after she got the job as curator that they were both vying for.
A series of mishaps, mysterious injuries and illnesses ensue, leaving Sarah and Liam on their guard, wondering who they can trust. Too bad the chemistry is still alive and well between them, but so is the hurt and betrayal of the past.
This was the exact mini vacation from reality that I needed, filled with adventure around every corner, and hint of romance.

I've read romantic novellas that can pull off believable and swoon-worthy relationships in such a small allotment of pages, but I just don't think this is one of those. The audiobook narrator was a bit underwhelming, and I felt like her voice contributed a bit of an immature touch to the characters. Something about the romance between the main characters felt sort of off, or forced, for me.
Jenn McKinlay's writing is perfectly fine, and I think she has written some great things before! For me, the story itself is what fell short.

Overall this was a cute novella... but I think it would've made a fantastic novel! Second chance romance and adventure had such a fun plot, but I wanted more! I also loved the narrator, she is very easy to listen to.
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the audio ARC of #TheAttractionDistraction

A second-change love and a dangerous treasure hunting. Sounds like SOMETHING WILDER by Christina Lauren. Maybe it's a new thing in 2022. I was interested in a treasure hunting part, but it was really lame. I wonder if author ever experienced tough hiking in the wild. It never got deep and stayed cliche until the end.

This is such a cute book. It's a great travel listen as it's shorter. The characters have a lot of depth. Think second chance romance, bookish wonderment, and a treasure hunt. It's great! Thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to review this book as an ARC.

This was a really cute novella but I would have LOVED it as a full novel. I love the adventure we go on with the characters and rekindled love story but I wanted more! More details more story more everything because it was just so fun!
Narration was 5 out 5 stars. She did amazing.

This was cute! Its a second chance romance novella, you know what you're getting into when you start. I enjoyed this one better than the first in this series. The accent and the setting and the quick plot, it was a very fun and quick listen.

I did enjoy this book, however I think there was just something missing for me in order to rate it higher. The aspect which I enjoyed the most about this book was the character development. For being such a short story, the author was able to do a good job at creating the characters so the reader could really understand them. It was great!
Another thing I really liked was the narrator. She did a great job, and I really enjoyed her fake Scottish accent when she used it. I laughed out loud a couple times because of it!
I think what really was lacking for me was within the plot itself. I didn’t really see how the ending came to be (in regards to the character(s) who was/were the culprit(s)). I think there could have been more hints throughout the book to help the ending seem more believable.
Overall this was a good and quick read, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a fast adventure/romance/mystery read.

2.5
Sara is sent to santorini to search for an artifact from Ancient Greek. She however isn’t the only one, next to her there are 9 others that want to find the artifact first. Things get more complicated when she finds out that her ex boyfriend is one of them.
This was a really quick read wich sometimes is really needed, but it also felt super rushed.
As for the romance, I sadly didn’t really feel it since we don’t get much of their former relationship. Due to that i did not see the romantic chemistry and there was sadly not really any character development.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

The Attraction Distraction is a short & sweet adventurous romance with some double-crossing & mystery thrown in for good measure! Thanks to #NetGalley and #DreamscapeMedia for the opportunity to listen.

A sweetly thrilling adventure.
The Attraction Distraction was a fun and fast paced second chance romance/cozy mystery mashup.

Short, sweet, and fun in spades! I love books like these! I hope to read more from this author! I wish the netgalley app had better audio quality though.

The Attraction Distraction is a quick read that transports the reader to Greece for a whirlwind last minute excursion of two historians. It moved so quickly that there wasn’t really any time to get to know anyone or get invested in the romance or mystery plots. It was a novella, but I feel like it shouldn’t have been. There was a lot going on in such a short amount of time and it felt very rushed. I feel like if it was longer the plot could have gotten the necessary time to develop. There needed to by better character development in the short length of the book, I have read a few of Jenn McKinlay's books and enjoyed them, but this one just didn't work for me.

A quick read / listen! Overall, I thought it was good. However, at times it felt a little cheesy. I did enjoy the plot and thought the narrator did a great job!
Read this if you like - closed door romance, Greek mythology, treasure hunts.
Thank you #netgalley, #dreamscapemedia, and #JennMcKinlay for the advanced copy.

This book was very good! The setting was unique, the hero has an Irish accent 😍, and it was short and sweet. I loved the relationship and tension between our MCs and that there wasn’t much angst.
Sara Young was great fit for this book! Anyone who can pull off an Irish accent and correctly pronounce Irish words is a goddess!

The Attraction Distraction by Jenn McKinlay
A Museum of Literature Romance series book 2. Can be read as a stand-alone. Romantic comedy novella.
A quest for museum curators.
Sarah agrees to search for a hidden artifact on an uninhabited island in the Aegean Sea. She didn’t expect to run into her ex on the trip but he slowly convinces her to give him another chance.
🎧 I listened to an audiobook version narrated by Sara Young. She gives an excellent performance with clean enunciated dialog, and a slight Irish accent for Liam. Emotions we’re easily perceived. I listened at 1.3 for the best speed for a conversation. For reading along I could have gone up to 1.5.
Amusing adventure if improbable. I certainly understood Sarah’s anger but thought Liam’s actins were swoon worthy.
I will look for other series and books by this author. It was delightful.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media.

What a cute novella! I really enjoyed this audiobook. The narrator was absolutely great! Sarah and Liam had great banter with romance along with adventure. Recommended if you are looking for a quick audiobook full of fun!
*Thank you @dreamscapemedia and @netgalley for the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.*

To be completely honest, this was a little bit too cheesy for my liking. I was able to get through listening to the audiobook while doing some chores around the house, but to be completely honest I probably would not have finished this one if I were reading the book myself. Not to say that people would not like it. It just was not for me.

2.75/5⭐️
Sarah is sent by the museum she works for to an island to search for an important artifact. People from other museums around the world are racing to find the artifact first, including her Irish ex-boyfriend that broke her heart in grad school.
This fell flat for me. It was a novella, but I feel like it shouldn’t have been. There was a lot going on in such a short amount of time and it felt very rushed. I feel like if it was longer the plot could have gotten the necessary time to develop. There wasn’t enough character development for me in the short length of the book, I didn’t feel attached to the characters at all. In addition to the lack of character development with the main characters, the side characters were underdeveloped as well. The villain reveal was so underwhelming, with the lack of scenes with that character, I barely even know who it was.
Overall, I didn’t enjoy this book. I think the plot and characters had potential, but it was too short and rushed.
