Synopsis:

Journalist Jupiter (aka Found Object) is headed back to her hometown, a place she got as far away from as she could after her celebrity mother's brutal murder. Back home on a fluff piece assignment she gets side tracked and starts piecing together what REALLY happened to her mom - with dangerous results.

Review:

Jupiter is so extremely likable. She's not an oblivious main character walking into danger - her character is well aware of her surroundings, not timid, and a critical thinker. Those qualities plus her quick wit and humor won me over as a reader and I was so invested in her journey to uncover the truth.

My criticism of this thriller comes at the end. Before this reading experience I probably would have said "a thriller can't have too many twists!", but this proved me wrong. The ending had so many new revelations, and in such rapid succession, the resolution fell apart for me. I feel they could have been spread more through the novel, or even consolidated, and had a stronger impact.

Overall I enjoyed the story and the characters. At the length of 200 pages this would be a choice weekend-read for a thriller-enthusiast. If you think you know how it's going to end you'll be wrong (repeatedly).

Ann Fraser is a storyteller and her stories are filled with twists and turns, false endings, and surprises. Told in an easy-read, conversational style, Found Object, like the other books I’ve read by her, is a quick and enjoyable book. I do not know if this is the first book featuring Jupiter or if there will be others, but between her difficult childhood, the murder of her superstar mother, and all the questions surrounding who did it and why, she is a complex and interesting character. This book is a mystery and not a love story, which makes me happy. However, if love stories are your thing there is a slight hint of that as well. I would recommend this book and would like to thank NetGalley for the advanced read copy.

it was full of twists and turns regarding who could’ve done it and honestly i was pretty pleased with the ending, i had my suspicions and i had been half right.

i liked Ian, Poppy and even Jupiter’s characters and i liked the dual pov between Jupiter’s view and Ian’s view.

overall, it was a good mystery. i definitely recommend for people that like a mystery/thriller genre

I really enjoyed this book, even though there is A LOT going on. Jupiter is a journalist who fell in love with the last person she was investigating, and after publishing her exposé, the situation ends in tragedy. In order to get her back on her feet, her editor sends her back to her hometown of Savannah to cover the anniversary of Luminescent, a makeup company that Jupiter's mother, famous actress Marie Nova, represented at the time of her murder. Once home, Jupiter has to confront her fractured relationship with her father and her own memories of her mother's murder, come to grips with what happened to her former lover, and uncover the secrets of Luminescent.

There are a lot of parts to this story, and it could have gotten confusing quickly, but Frasier does a good job of keeping it all straight for the reader. The result is a fast-paced book with a satisfying ending. This is the first of Frasier's works that I have read, but it won't be the last.

I found a new author! Anne Frazier is new to me and she is now on my to-be-read list for her other and future books. Found Object is full of twists and danger. In the beginning, you feel sorry for the main character Investigative Journalist Jupiter. You soon learn what she made of, but could that excellence in her job put her in extreme danger? She goes back to Savannah and ends up trying to find answers to what there should have been questions years ago. It could be the answers shouldn’t be brought to light it could open a deadly Pandora’s box. You can’t help liking the cop, Ian, but he seems to have a connection to the murder. So many people could be involved other than the one who admitted to it and is in prison for it.
What an incredible writer she makes you love the characters and turn the pages long after you should have turned off the light. I recommend this book. Thank you, NetGalley, and publishers Thomas & Mercer for this eARC this is my honest opinion.

Found Object is about investigative journalist Jupiter Bellarose. She currently lives in Minnesota and has just finished a major expose piece that has left her mental health in jeopardy. She already was struggling because as a teenager, her mom, a famous actress, was murdered and dismembered. Jupiter and her dad came upon the crime scene when they were going to visit her mother.
Needing to take a break, Jupiter decides to go back to Savannah, GA where she grew up and where her mom was murdered. She has a chance encounter with the police officer who was the first on scene at her mom’s murder. They decide to start looking into what happened to her mom even though somebody was already convicted.
This book was just OK for me. I have read the author’s previous books and thoroughly enjoyed them. Something seemed to be missing in the story. I felt like I was missing some key details from Jupiters past. The story overall was good but there were some detours that were kind of out of left field. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Found Object is a very unique story! Jupiter has recently been undercover and is thrust from one traumatic situation into another. She returns to Savannah to learn more about her mother’s murder that took place many years before. Her stay is filled with many odd characters, some of which are also evil. Her journey is fast-paced and interesting to say the least.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I found the plot engaging and I kept picking it up again and again until I finished it. The only critique I have is that it felt stunted as far as the transitions went between timelines. Sometimes I had to remind myself what the characters meant or the perspective they spoke from. I give this three stars for that reason only.

Found Object is the story of a young woman and journalist named Jupiter who after a difficult assignment returns to her hometown of Savannah, Georgia after twenty years and begins looking in to the brutal murder of her famous mother.

This book was up and down to me. There would be times I was totally enthralled, really enjoying myself and chapters that went really fast. But there were also things that threw me out of my happy reading state – things like walking into a guy’s house (who you BARELY know), and going right into his kitchen and cleaning and cooking? Who does that? Several things like that just made me really shake my head as I was reading. I found a lot of the phrasing to be flowery and redundant. And the ending…well, it kind of reminded me of the ending of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, where it just keeps coming and when you think it’s over wait there’s more! And seriously, what was even the motive at the end?

I didn’t hate this book, but I think it has some issues that would need to be addressed before I can give it a higher rating.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author never fails to entertain me with her books. I highly recommend this book.
The reading was quick and easy to read. Her character development was spot on.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the copy of Found Object. Jupiter was a sad sack main character that was hard to care about, but she did get more interesting as the book progressed. Ian and Poppy were the best characters and really added a lot. This book was a slow starter for me and I didn’t get engaged until almost halfway through, then I would lose interest again and then get it back for a time. If you love twisty endings, this book delivers! I’m not sure this book was for me because so much of it is implausible, but if you can suspend belief, you will love it.

Keeping this review clean and crisp because that’s just how the book is. Great storyline, amazing writing and just the right length for a good mystery. Truly enjoyable! My only issue is with the series of climaxes that were hurled at me - I mean I’m okay with twists that are thrown after a climax to change the whole dialogue and scene, and the reader goes like - ‘Wait, whatttt? So they’re not the killer’? Yes, I’m okay with my world going upside down but just how many times is cool enough to change the ending is questionable. This story had multiple twists right at the end of things and there was climax after climax after climax and so on. That’s where I lost my comfort and the attachment I felt with the story. Since I’ve only read an ARC, I’m hoping that the climax could be updated to make it more fun and acceptable.

Overall, a short, enjoyable read!

I really hate to mark this thriller as DNF. The main protagonist, and much of what surrounded her, gave off a depressing vibe. What I read of the story itself had one too many highs and lows. I did like the setting in Savannah, GA, with its Old South aura. I know from experience, it is a wonderful city to visit especially in the cooler months.

Anne Frasier aka Theresa Weir is an author I have been following for a very long time. I have read just about all of her older CRs along with some of her earlier, dark thrillers so I am sad to say I didn’t finish this story.

I didn’t quite get into Found Object at the beginning, but I continued on. I am so glad I did. Found Objects was wonderful! So full of twists and turns. I thought I could guess the end, but no, another twist I didn’t see coming. I loved reading about Ian Griffin, the police officer, and his niece Poppy. Maybe a little romance brewing with Jupiter. This is the first book by Anne Frasier that I have read. I am looking forward to reading more by her. .

Let me start by saying I love Anne Frasier. I have loved every book of hers that I’ve read, so I was very excited to receive this book. This book was a little different from Ms. Frasier’s previous books, but enjoyable nonetheless. I was slightly put off by the first few chapters but Ms. Frasier’s writing style kept me engrossed. My only other qualm was the ending. There was a perfectly good ending point, but then there ended up being another plot twist. The plot twist was somewhat implausible but overall I enjoyed Found Objects.

Jupiter Edwina Delilah Bellrose has heard this story many times and always enjoys hearing it.
Her mother Marie Nova and father Max found Jupiter in an infant seat on a country road near Savannah, Georgia, where her mother is from. Her mother said she was her ~‘found object’.
Although Jupiter loves this story, she was never really sure it was true.

Story starts when Jupiter is being released from a mental health facility in a Minneapolis hospital where she is recovering from depressions and over use of prescription drugs. As she completes discharge papers she signs her name ~“Found Object”.

Jupiter is an investigative reporter and is heading to Savannah, Georgia to cover a story on a renowned cosmetics empire. Her mother, Marie Nova, a famous actress, was the face of Luminescent for many years.
Twenty years ago, when Jupiter was sixteen, she and her dad Max found her mother brutally murdered. Jupiter has worried that her dad may have had something to do with the murder.

There is no doubt I was off and on with this story. At times I could not put in down and others it was . . . . <
“It that the mail man? Perhaps I should check”. ~ in other words, I was easily distracted!

However, the ending was good ~ so worth hanging in there!!
Ian Griffin, Savannah police officer and his young niece, Poppy were a nice touch to the story.

Found Object is another page turning, twisty plot story.
Jupiter had a difficult childhood as her mother preferred the lime life with little time for her daughter. A tragedy will add even more chaos to her young life.
Now Jupiter is grown and has become an investigative reporter, what better story then to find out the truth of what happened all those years ago.
This will take you on a ride guessing who and why and will add more questions she didn't even know needed to be answered.

Anne Frasier does not disappoint with this one and recommend this one.

I LOVED this book! The character development, the plot, the story building- everything was perfect👌🏻
If you’ve read any of Agatha Christie’s books, you know the feeling when you think this is the end, the murder is solved and then, out of nowhere, new clues come to light. You now look at the story from a totally different perspective. That is precisely what I felt as I was reading this book. The story was never short of surprises, and the author kept springing them up at every turn. Reading about Marie Nova’s character, an acclaimed actress many knew about but never actually knew in person, was another aspect of the story that I really enjoyed. Overall, the author has done a remarkable job in weaving the entire story together, and I must say it is one of the BEST books I’ve read this year! I can’t wait for it to be out in the world for everyone to read!!
