I read a few books by author Anne Frasier many years ago & loved her writing so I was very excited to see that I was approved to read her newest book, "Found Object".
It was a dark, unique & complex mystery/thriller that had me addicted right away.
The twists kept coming & everytime I thought I had it figured out, Ms. Frasier would throw out another curve ball.
I would love this to be the beginning of a new series.
Jupiter, Max & Ian are all great characters & I would enjoy continuing their journey.

I'm not sure what I can say that won't compromise the book for future readers. I think the best way to put it is there are twists and then there are TWISTS and I am not a fan of TWISTS.

I'm sure this is the most unhelpful review ever but nothing's worse than a review that spoils the book, right?

The bottom line: It's a fun read that keeps you on your toes and makes you question everything.

I have read quite a few stories by this author and loved them. I'm not sure if this one was just situational but it's definitely a case of it's me and not you, dear story.

I just didn't feel the draw to this one like I'd hoped. I found the beginning slow with her story of her old job and her old flame. I kept forgetting what her job was because she just seemed to have unlimited money resource when I wasn't thinking any on-line news company would throw that kind of money around for a journalist. I did find the mystery surrounding her mother interesting and I liked that we got the conclusion for that, even if it was in a round about way and then all at once.

If you've read this author or this one sounds good, give it a try. This one just wasn't for me.

I absolutely loved this book. It’s characters, intricate details, scenery, and everything. Another perfect Anne Frazier book. So glad I came across it.

Ok kids, give yourselves plenty of time once you start this awesome story! Such a fun and creepy mystery with edge of your seat turns. Love it!

After a traumatizing work assignment, investigative journalist Jupiter is sent back to her hometown to write a fluff piece and take things easy. However, her hometown is the place where her famous mother was brutally murdered many years ago and therefore holds many demons for Jupiter. As she writes this fluff piece, she gets pulled into investigating her mother’s murder as the answers from long ago do not seem to be holding up.

I LOVED Frasier’s Find Me and was so excited to try a new series by her. I enjoyed this book when I was reading it, but for a majority of the book, if I set it down, I didn’t have a propulsion to pick it back up immediately. The end had me engrossed and there were multiple twists I didn’t see coming. While this murder was wrapped up, Frasier left the door open for another investigation with the same characters and I will definitely be tempted to pick that up.

Anne is one of my favorites. Been reading her work for some time now and it is always a pleasure. She never disappoints with providing well developed characters, plots and endings!

This story finds us with Jupiter Bellarose, rethinking the murder of her mother. After some rough circumstances in the office, her boss suggests a "Time Out" for our star, so that she can work on a quieter piece while she settles back in the routine of life without her mom. That may not be the best thing to do at this time!

Will the homecoming be a good thing or will this simply allow a reckoning to rise up? Read this book and find out!

I struggled with how to rate this. The premise was strong and the story had me hooked. I was invested in Jupiter's journey and that part of the book worked. What was problematic is the past 20% was a lot. I think it could have been fleshed out better so it didn't feel overwhelming like it did. Not her best book but a worthwhile read.

This thriller had me from the start. I loved following Jupiter, and was eating up each chapter. I was even on board for the skincare thing, I fine-I hadn't seen that in a thriller that was kind of cool. Was it weird that not one but two characters just start sprinting away mid conversation when they are stressed? Uh, yea; but it's still cool I guess. Maybe they belong together. (But maaaybe also one of them shouldn't be a cop. It seems he makes some questionable decisions under pressure. Ahem, the HEAD).

So when I tell you, I'm still recovering from the last 25% of this book. I finished this in less than 24 hours, but that ending. There's throwing everything and the kitchen sink at something--- and then there is this which goes even further. You could tell me you rated this book literally any number, and I would understand. If it had about 2/3 less endings it still might be a five star read, but it's SO much. Also Jupiter starts making the most nonsensical decisions ever. WHY would you wear that red dress? And walk into the water? (drive with him anywhere really-you don't know him!) All in all, I certainly will remember this one, certainly that last bit; and what really more could I ask for in a thriller?

Let’s get this out of the way right off – this story contains a particularly horrendous illustration of a murder scene. This is not to imply it is not a good plot and worth the read by an author I’ve enjoyed before. It is a fairly short story that packs a punch.
The setting begins in frigid Minnesota, then travels to the historical southern charm of Savannah. Jupiter is in her thirties, a journalist for a paper and has recently gone through a traumatic episode when she became too involved with the subject of an exposé article. As an investigative journalist she knows how to dig deep. Once married to Bennett, he’s now her boss at the paper.
Bennett thinks he’s helping when he sends Jupiter to the home she’s avoided for many years. Her mother, Marie Nova, had been a flamboyant and popular actress. She was also the face of a skin care line, Luminescent. Jupiter’s mother was murdered and the fame changed directions. Bennett wants Jupiter to do a piece on Luminescent.
A man is in prison, convicted of Marie Nova’s murder. Jupiter was very young and continues to have doubts, questions, memories and flashbacks. Without telling Bennett, she does some investigating into her mother’s murder. She has to face her father and the house where It happened. She also runs into other people from that awful day.
The remaining family members of Luminescent agree to meet with Jupiter. This sets in motion more questions about her mother and a twisted spiral of events that climax in a clever ending. There’s even a dash of romance with many interesting characters. It was a mystery that kept me guessing until the conclusion and an author I will read again.

Jupiter Bellrose is an investigative journalist working in Minnesota. So when the latest article left her in such a mental state, Jupiter decides to go to Savannah, Georgia, where once when she was a teenager, her mother, who was an uprising actress was brutally murdered and dismembered. Together with Ian, who was a police cop at the time, they try to find the secret behind the murder even though the culprit is already caught and is already behind bars.

This was in my opinion, an OK thriller. Not fast paced as I liked it to be but not a slow burn either. There were some boring parts in the story but overall, it was OK. There were some twists and turns and the book mainly talks about Jupiter's past and mental state. Overall, it was a good thriller. Worth four stars.

This is a read that will truly keep you guessing. I ultimately found it comparatively slow to other entries in the genre, but the premise was great and I'd be intrigue to read more of Frasier's work.

For the most part, I enjoyed the pacing of the story and there was definitely enough intrigue present to keep me flipping pages, but I had a hard time with the protagonist, Jupiter. I'm all about suspending reality for the sake of a story (it's why I read fiction so much, after all) but the way Jupiter behaved was seriously so confounding to me.

I don't want to spoil anything, but we are told a story very early on that explains the title of the book, but then *several* conversations throughout the book completely contradict the story, and we don't get any resolution until almost the very end. I honestly felt it could have been left out entirely because it was unnecessarily confusing and, for me, didn't add to the story at all.

Review:

Jupiter is so extremely likable. She's not an oblivious main character walking into danger - her character is well aware of her surroundings, not timid, and a critical thinker. Those qualities plus her quick wit and humor won me over as a reader and I was so invested in her journey to uncover the truth.

My criticism of this thriller comes at the end. Before this reading experience I probably would have said "a thriller can't have too many twists!", but this proved me wrong. The ending had so many new revelations, and in such rapid succession, the resolution fell apart for me. I feel they could have been spread more through the novel, or even consolidated, and had a stronger impact.

Overall I enjoyed the story and the characters. At the length of 200 pages this would be a choice weekend-read for a thriller-enthusiast. If you think you know how it's going to end you'll be wrong (repeatedly).

Ann Fraser is a storyteller and her stories are filled with twists and turns, false endings, and surprises. Told in an easy-read, conversational style, Found Object, like the other books I’ve read by her, is a quick and enjoyable book. I do not know if this is the first book featuring Jupiter or if there will be others, but between her difficult childhood, the murder of her superstar mother, and all the questions surrounding who did it and why, she is a complex and interesting character. This book is a mystery and not a love story, which makes me happy. However, if love stories are your thing there is a slight hint of that as well. I would recommend this book and would like to thank NetGalley for the advanced read copy.

it was full of twists and turns regarding who could’ve done it and honestly i was pretty pleased with the ending, i had my suspicions and i had been half right.

i liked Ian, Poppy and even Jupiter’s characters and i liked the dual pov between Jupiter’s view and Ian’s view.

overall, it was a good mystery. i definitely recommend for people that like a mystery/thriller genre

I really enjoyed this book, even though there is A LOT going on. Jupiter is a journalist who fell in love with the last person she was investigating, and after publishing her exposé, the situation ends in tragedy. In order to get her back on her feet, her editor sends her back to her hometown of Savannah to cover the anniversary of Luminescent, a makeup company that Jupiter's mother, famous actress Marie Nova, represented at the time of her murder. Once home, Jupiter has to confront her fractured relationship with her father and her own memories of her mother's murder, come to grips with what happened to her former lover, and uncover the secrets of Luminescent.

There are a lot of parts to this story, and it could have gotten confusing quickly, but Frasier does a good job of keeping it all straight for the reader. The result is a fast-paced book with a satisfying ending. This is the first of Frasier's works that I have read, but it won't be the last.

I found a new author! Anne Frazier is new to me and she is now on my to-be-read list for her other and future books. Found Object is full of twists and danger. In the beginning, you feel sorry for the main character Investigative Journalist Jupiter. You soon learn what she made of, but could that excellence in her job put her in extreme danger? She goes back to Savannah and ends up trying to find answers to what there should have been questions years ago. It could be the answers shouldn’t be brought to light it could open a deadly Pandora’s box. You can’t help liking the cop, Ian, but he seems to have a connection to the murder. So many people could be involved other than the one who admitted to it and is in prison for it.
What an incredible writer she makes you love the characters and turn the pages long after you should have turned off the light. I recommend this book. Thank you, NetGalley, and publishers Thomas & Mercer for this eARC this is my honest opinion.
