A very generous 3 Stars.. The instagram trope is getting old to me so this is just my person opinion.
All the characters felt very one dimensional and obsessed with their BRAND.
The main character Millie's entire focus is becoming instragram famous after loosing her job in marketing, she moves to California to follow her dream of surfing.

Her "Friends" are not very good friends, they are more concerned about Millie ruining everything they've created in their small surfing town. And to be clear; what they've created is a "Perfect surfing destination" by exploiting their children's lives on social media and being completely fake.

I thought the narrator did a great job and I would listen to more from her. But there was a lot of areas this book could be improved in and I would only recommend it to someone who is looking for a influencer trope..

I enjoyed this book. It took me a bit to get into it, I enjoyed the second half much more than the first.

This book begins with our main character Millie Ward being let go from her marketing job and relocating to a beach town in California from New York. Her friend from college (Quincy) lives there and her super hot brother Pete - it seems like the perfect place to go after feeling she needs to reevaluate things. Before she goes she finds a black dress in a box in her apartment. This isn't any black dress - something good has happened to everyone of her friends when they wore this dress. She heads off with the dress curious if the theory around it is really true. I loved the the Sisterhood of the Travelling pants vibe the dress gave.

She starts an Instagram page to document her adventures. This proves to be a challenge as Quincy's new group of friends are big influencers in this town and she's causing some waves with one.

The sex scenes with Mille and Pete were HOT! I really enjoyed how their relationship developed.

I really like how the brought to light ADHD in adult women and how it can affect different aspects of their life. There were somethings I didn't know about myself.

I will definitely be recommending this book.

Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape media for the advanced audio copy of this book for my honest review.

This has some “sisterhood of the traveling pants” vibes to it, without the whole book’s premise centered on that one thing. I loved how the main character integrated into her found-community, and developed her relationships further.

I've recently learned that I love books where our main character works in social media, and this was no exception. I'm so happy I read this. I hadn't really heard anyone talk about it, so it was a pleasant surprise.

This was an okay summer read. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it either. The MC was extremely conflicted with her own thoughts and opinions and i did not vibe with her.

This was a cute and light hearted book for me. Perfect for a summer read by the water.

I don’t know what it is about stories that involve characters who have been friends and loved each other for years, but I just soak it right up with a goofy smile on my face.

I also enjoy reading books that have aspects of the social media world. I had no idea it could be so extreme and cut throat when it becomes your sole income (and a massive one at that). It’s such a foreign thing that boggles my mind!

I also loved that the main character showed her true self on social media and encouraged those around her to do the same 💜 it’s very easy to show the highlights on here and nothing else, which can make SM intimidating and cause you to feel lesser than others at times.

I recommend this book if you like romcoms, beach town settings, social media themes, and friends to lovers stories!

Thank you so much to @netgalley and @dreamscape_media for the audio arc in exchange for my honest review!

Millie is laid off from her job in marketing giving her another ‘failure’ to add to her list, which cause her parents another disappointment and further convincing them this is a result of her ADHD. Armed with a little black slip dress that has proven lucky to her closest college friends, Millie heads out to California to visit her best friend Quincy and her brother, Pete (Millie’s long time crush), to explore what the next for her and get in some surfing. and her friends in California are Instagrammers on a mission to save the town by keeping up the perfect images…..…..perhaps Millie can become an Instagrammer herself?

What I enjoyed about the book:

Millie and Pete! Although it was pretty easy for the reader/listener to see where this was going, it did not take away from the storyline.

Millie as a character. I thought Millie was a really great friend throughout the book and stood up for her friends, helped them and tried to make a difference while being true to herself.

The narrator! I think she did a fantastic job with the characters.

What I was indifferent to:

I did not feel the black dress really was needed. I was pretty indifferent to it, but I could see other readers having opinions over this if they read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

The surfing. I learned some things about it. I think it was needed in the book, but that is not something that kept me interested.

What could be an issue for some readers:

The Instagramming, small town business/eco-friendly, ADHD. Everyone has opinions and different levels of understanding of each topic, so this could bring out a variety of opinions on how these things were portrayed in the story. I personally was also indifferent to these things, but understand how they played a role in the story.

I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others. I thought it was a great debut.

This book was adorable and hilarious, and I absolutely loved it. Millie's struggles with ADHD were so realistic and relatable, and the author did a really good job keeping the plot moving the whole time.

thank you to DreamScape Media, NetGalley and Gillian Libby for this advanced listeners copy in return for my honest and voluntary review.

this book was a fun, uplifting, feel good, beachy, summer read. It was super cheery and hopeful story of self discovery that everyone should read. It has so much that i feel everyone could relate to. this book shows that its okay to go your own way, do what makes you happy, even if it makes others unhappy. It's a story of self discovery that shows that you deserve to be happy even when the world tells you otherwise. This book was a wonderfully written (and narrated- the narrator did a perfect job bringing the story to life). It also gave me all the Sisterhood of the traveling pants vibe, but instead of pants being bounced between friends, it was a dress. Super cute adaptation.

We Meet Millie Ward, who has been fired , again. she feels awful and hates feeling like a failure (a trope that everyone can relate to at some point in their lives) but instead of letting this set back break her, she uses it as an excuse to visit her best friend- and instagram influenbcerr- Quincy in California. she also is quite intrigued at being able to spend more time with her best friends brother, Pete..

Best friends are wonderful- they help you celebrate your failures by packing up all your things to go visit other friends. Making the process much more enjoyable along the way. Millie and her best friends, Kate and Bree find the little black dress that they shared in college. They reminisced about the dress helping them with exams, boys and first dates and even job interviews- and with each girl who wore it came a little bit of extra luck and maybe a little bit of style :) (seeing the sisterhood of the traveling pants vibe now!) So the three friends think this dress will add a little confidence and luck to their girl Millie on her new adventure.

Peacock Bay is such a sweet beachside town full of Instagram influencers, including new local, Millie. She attempts to lure business and patrons to Pete's business and hotel by using him as her fake boyfriend on Instagram, all while attempting to Lauch her own influencer career in peacock bay in hopes of helping her feel a little less helpless. By using her failures to boost Pete's business and followers, could it be detrimental to the relationship she hopes to become more than a fake Instagram thing? pick up this cute, debut novel by Gillian Libby and find out more about Mille and Pete's fake Instagram relationship. You won't regret it. I would listen to this over and over again. 10/10 would recommend

This was such a cute, summery read!!

I really enjoyed listening to it, and I had a lot of fun getting into the story.

Millie gets fired from her marketing job and ends up going to a cute small town where one of her best friends, Quincy, lives…as well as her long time crush, Pete (aka Her bestfriends brother). This story follows Millie as she works to find herself, as he tries not to let her ADHD, or any negativity get her down. She tried to pick up on instagramming and find a whole new world among it.

OH. And let’s not forget the black dress that she happened to have stumbled upon back from college; the dress that all four of her closest friends shared to gain luck. It gave me sisterhood of the traveling pants vibes, but more adulty!

And I loved the voice narrator!! Definitely super easy to listen to, and she gets into the story so IM A FAN!

Definitely one to read if you’re trying to get in the summer mood, and can appreciate a small-town romance!

Four Ways to Wear a Dress feels like a grown-up version of "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and I'm here for it. This is a wonderful novel for those who also love the fake dating trope. A perfect mix of friendship, romance, finding your home, acceptance and real-life issues. I really enjoyed the inclusion of real-world events (pandemic) and showing how it affected the lives of families and us small-business owners.

I wish this had been dual POV so that we could have connected more with Pete and seen things from his perspective. I think it would have really pulled the story together and provided more juicy content.

Erika Schindele did a fantastic job narrating this novel. During scenes where multiple characters were conversing, I was able to easily distinguish between each one because of Erika's wonderful narration skills, giving each character their own voice. <3

This was a great "finding yourself" read. I love how this book focuses on a women discovering her talents and gaining confidence in herself.

Not only does this story have an adorable romance but it also shows her learning to love herself.

I thought this book was super cute and recommend it for a feel good read.

I loved this book. It was funny, steamy and the characters were easy to connect with.

Millie was fired and decides to slow down and visit her influencer friend in California.

Her friends in NYC help her pack and they find the long lost little black dress that the group of friends shared in college. It has given them good luck and is hoping she will get good luck on her trip.

When she gets to California she is picked up by her friends brother that she has always had a crush on. He shows her around and she realizes the feelings are still there but are they there for him?

It was a great book that was funny and real. I loved it. Great feel good book!!!!

Four Ways To Wear A Dress by debut author Gillian Libby is a socially aware rom com filled with very adult sexy scenes.

Millie leaves NYC for the beach after she's fired and packs the little black dress, a la Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, that her besties have shared since college.

Narrator Erika Schindele is remarkably believable with the emotions of dealing with ADHD and possible autism.

The writer used my favorite trope, fake romance, as Millie and Pete pretend to be together to boost her Instagram follows and his hotel. The insecurities they have prevent them from admitting their true feelings.

I loved the commentary of the pressure to keep up as an Instagram influencer. A sexy summer romp with some very real life moments.

I received a free copy of the audiobook from Dreamscape Media via #netgalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

This one fell flat for me! If you are into social media and steam this is a great book for you. I found the storyline to be unbelievable and the characters fell flat for me. As much as I wanted to, I couldn't find a connection.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.

I give this 3.5 stars!!

Four Ways to Wear a Dress is a modern romcom about the character Millie who lives in NYC. Millie ends up losing her job in marketing and decides to go out on a limb and travel to Peacock Bay, California where her friend Quincy lives. Quincy and other locals are IG influencers and Millie wants have a go at being one too. Did I forget to mention, Pete, Millie’s college crush, lives there as well? Who, is also Quincy’s brother!! Lets just say things get….interesting. We learn as the book goes on, that these influencer’s lives are not all sunshine and rainbows like they portray on IG. Millie is a sassy, witty, independent character who you love and laugh at A LOT. & if I’m being honest, I wanted to slap her a few times because she just would not take a hint!!!

This book is The Hating Game and Unhoneymooners if they had a baby. I enjoyed the characters and the spice. I also enjoyed the narrator for the audible book. If you liked the previous books listed or books similar to, then you will love this!

After Millie loses her job she moves to Peacock Bay where her friend, Quincy, and college crush, Pete, live. Quincy and her friends are all IG influencers, so Millie joins them. I really liked this book, it was a great listen. The characters were great and well written. I was hooked from the start. Now after the audio is over I'm wondering what happens now, I want more. I plan to check out more of this authors book, they look good.

I'm at a 3 ⭐ for this debut.

This story follows Millie as she moves to California to figure her life out after being fired from her marketing job due to downsizing. She has always been interested in surfing, so she embarks on an adventure of her true calling. And lucky for her that her bff's hot brother who she's always crushed on, Pete, lives there
The story was easy to follow along, but it was very slow going for me. I didn't find myself overly invested in the story really.
It's heavy on being an influencer and having a lot of social media followers, which leads Millie and Pete to begin fake dating to drum up business. Fake turns into some steaminess rather quickly. Spoiler alert, but not really ~ they really secretly like each other.

9 hour and 40 minute listen and Erika Schindele did a fine job narrating, easy listen at 2x.

If you like books about fake dating, surfing, going after what you want and/or having many followers than this story might be for you.

3/5 stars
This book started strong for me. I absolutely love the character of Millie. She is strong and independent, and the story starts out with her looking for a fresh start and doing what she wishes she would have done with her life years ago, and she makes a life for herself along the way. If I could describe the plot in a word, it would be scattered. There were so many themes and they just didn’t flow together. Surfing, retail and advertising, and social media influencing, it just felt kind of … undecided to me. It was a cute story overall I just found it unfocused.

Four Ways to Wear a Dress is a modern romantic comedy that combines the themes of friendship, finding one's self as a 20 something, social media, and of course... some spice that might raise the reader's heart rate a beat or two.

Millie Ward is trying to figure out her next steps as a 20s something who just was fired from the marketing job in NYC that she poured herself into. She makes the decision to take a chance, and visit her college best friend and her brother in the picture perfect California surf town of Peacock Bay, where she will try her hand at being a social media influencer. There she has to balance what image she is curating not only for herself, but also the old and new friends, and the town itself. To make matters more complicated, her long time crush on her best friend's brother Pete has become stronger than ever.

Overall, this is an enjoyable romantic comedy, that brings in elements of dealing with attention disorders, social media use and pressures, while delivering on some steamy scenes too. At times I felt the traits of some of the main characters were a little bit contradicting, and occasionally the dialogue was difficult to distinguish as actually being said out loud or internal dialogue, on the audiobook. That being said, the overall story was enjoyable and I'd recommend for listeners who enjoy the genre! Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I'd give this one 3.5 stars.
