I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. There are amazing things all around us, but are we observant enough to notice them? Lovely story about a little girl who learns this lesson.

A young girl happens upon an animal with unnaturally large antlers and decides to climb to the top, just to see what she sees. The illustrations were very pretty, but it's a pretty uneventful story. The best part is when she happens upon the line for the shower and the animals think she is trying to skip the line, I feel like a lot of children will find that part funny. It has a positive message about exploration and nature, but it just didn't do much for me.

Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.

NetGalley ARC
Read-aloud? No. But good for one-on-ones (amount of text bubbles and details on each page)

This charming tale from Morgan de Cadier and illustrator Florian Pigé is both informative about male deer antlers and draws the reader into a whole world of curiosities. "Just to See" is full of laughter for kids and caregivers.

The book is printed on paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council with vegetable-based inks.

I have a girl who is curious and always up for an adventure. I couldn’t help but think of her as the main character in this slightly bizarre story. I am sure others will do the same thing.

This is a cute story about a little girl who finds a deer whose antlers haven’t shed and have kept growing. She climbs up them finding many interesting animals living on them. It was quite an adventure! With beautiful illustrations, this is great story to read to young children.

This is a short, sweet little picture book that has gentle thematic elements of exploration, wonderment, and nature. The text is legible, but small, so it may not be appropriate for larger storytimes. I could see the majority of the simple text working for early readers.

Parts of the story lost me visually, but overall the art style is soft and soothing and makes sense, and I was drawn back in by the ending arc.

This sweet book tells the story of a little girl who discovers a male deer who has not shed his antlers. She decides to climb the antlers and as she goes she meets several animals who are enjoying the antlers much like a tree. She gets to the top and can see far and wide, then returns to the ground to enjoy a meal with the deer and some of her new animal friends. The phrase "Just to see" is repeated throughout, for example "Can I climb your antlers, just to see?" The book sends the message that it is ok to try new things, just to see if you like them, or just to see what there is out there to discover. The illustrations are beautiful and tell much of the story. All of the text is in speech bubbles, with most pages having 1-2 speech bubbles and some pages just containing pictures.

I can definitely see this picture book in my grade 3 classroom library. I would recommend this book to teachers and parents of children in the age 4-8 range. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this lovely book!

How darling and whimsical are the illustrations.
How curious and joyful the story made us feel.

An intriguing tale of a little girl that observes and see all in her environment, and one day there is something new to investigate. What she finds is unique and beyond imagination. An inquisitive reader will be held in suspense and be rewarded with delights of creative images and ideas. The soft, colored pencil like illustrations help to create a soft and quaint place for the story to unfold.

Even as an adult reader I really enjoyed this playful and fantastic story.

Grateful to have received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley & Blue Dot Kid Press.
